The African nation’s awe-inspiring temples and pyramids have captured the imagination of travelers for thousands of years. Although most people come to Egypt to view its ancient monuments, natural attractions beckon travelers too. The Red Sea coast is known for its coral reefs and beach resorts while a trek through the Sahara can lead visitors to a refreshing oasis. Here’s a look at the best places to visit in Egypt:

Foreign Office updates latest Egypt travel advice after killing
The Foreign Office has updated their travel advice for Egypt following the death of Iranian General Qasem Soleimani. A warning was issued on Sunday stating that British nationals should remain vigilant and to keep up to date with latest developments. They say 'terrorists are very likely to try to carry out attacks in Egypt' - which saw an estimated 415,000 British nationals visit in 2018. The government body also advises against all travel to the Governorate of North Sinai - within the Sharm el Sheikh perimeter barrier, which includes the airport and the areas of Sharm el Maya, Hadaba, Naama Bay, Sharks Bay and Nabq. All but essential travel is also advised for the area west of the Nile Valley and Nile Delta regions - excluding the coastal areas between the Nile Delta and Marsa Matruh. Iranian General Qasem Soleimani was killed in a US strike in Baghdad on January 3. Iran's leaders have pledged to avenge the death of the man who led the Quds Force - an elite unit of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC). Terrorists are very likely to try to carry out attacks in Egypt, the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) said. There is considered to be a heightened threat of terrorist attack globally against UK interests and British nationals, from groups or individuals motivated by the conflict in Iraq and Syria. Travel information on the government website added: Although most attacks occur in North Sinai, there is a risk of terrorist attacks across the country. Attacks could be indiscriminate, affecting Egyptian security forces, religious sites, large public gatherings and places visited by foreigners. There is a heightened threat of terrorist attacks in or around religious sites and during religious festivals, such as the month of Ramadan and the Christmas period (including Coptic Christmas), when terrorist groups have sometimes called for attacks. Terrorist attacks have occurred over local holiday weekends. Terrorists have attacked tourists in Egypt in the past. There is a heightened threat of terrorist attacks targeting Coptic Christians from extremists linked to Daesh-Sinai in Egypt. Tourists are asked to follow the advice of Egyptian authorities. More information can be found on the UK Foreign Travel Advice website here.

Theres a street staple called koushari you can buy it for cheap, but theres a risk youll get sick if you buy it from street vendors. LOADED with carbs its pasta, rice and lentils with a special sauce.
Feteer widely available at coffee shops in Khan Khalili.
Um Ali this is a MAJOR diet buster, but you HAVE TO try it. Its pretty much milk, filo dough, nuts and raisins the best one Ive had is at a sweet stand/resto called Al Malki. Any cab driver can take you to one. Youll likely be standing and eating or taking it to go. You can have this at any restaurant, but I find Malkis so good!!

Originally from Nashville, Tennessee, we got married June 2013 and quickly caught the travel bug! We started “travel hacking” and taking more trips together and finally decided we wanted to travel for one year. After 2 years of saving $ and travel hacking over 2 million miles and points, we sold our cars and apartment and left home January 10, 2016. We started this YouTube channel to share our experiences with friends and family, then decided we really liked vlogging and traveling. So we extended our 1 year trip to THREE years :) Now we have a goal of traveling to 100 countries before Nate turns 30 (which is March 20, 2019)! We are incredibly thankful to do something we love every day. :)

EGYPT & JORDAN | Ep1: Solo Backpacking Egypt
Solo backpacking through Egypt in the first leg of my month long trip as I travel through Egypt & Jordan.
Egypt & Jordan are undoubtedly on most people's travel bucket lists, but I've always had the impression that the majority of people travel there on an organised tour.
So I wanted to give it a go by myself and see what it was like treating it like a normal backpacking trip, staying at hostel and booking everything on the go.
This first episode covers the 3 weeks I spent solo travelling around Egypt.
Starting out in Cairo, I visited the Great Pyramids at Giza as well as exploring Islamic Cairo.
Then I took the train down to Aswan, visited Abu Simbel before boarding a 2 day cruise on the Nile to Luxor.
At Luxor I visited the Valley of the Kings, Karnak and other temples.
Then I went snorkelling and scuba diving in the Red Sea at Hurghada, Sharm el Sheikh and Dahab.
