Fossil Museum at Wadi El Hitan, Egypt
Fossil Museum at Wadi El Hitan, Egypt, January 14, 2016
The Egyptian Ministry of Environment inaugurated the Fossil and Climate Change Museum at the Wadi El Hitan world heritage site in cooperation with the Italian government and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).
According to the UNDP, the new museum features a “unique collection” of fossils, including the largest intact Basilosaurus isis whale fossil.
The UNDP built the museum in cooperation with the Egyptian government and with the financial support of the Italian government through the Egyptian-Italian Environmental Cooperation Programme (EIECP). Through the museum, all three parties hope to raise awareness and educate the public about climate change, including methods to mitigate its effects on the planet.

Did This Technology Power Ancient Egypt?
Did this technology power ancient Egypt. In this video we take a look at this technology and whether it powered ancient Egypt.
At the Temple of Hathor, Dendera, are stone reliefs showing a large lightbulb being used by Egyptians. Also referred to as the Dendera Light Bulb, the depiction is similar to the early lightbulb known as the Crookes tube. The relief's version of this light bulb shows a snake Inside the glass bulb in the form of a wavy line. This is believed to represent the hot filament. Snakes have been used to represent god-like knowledge and wisdom and are often used to represent rocket ships or space crafts that brought ancient aliens from the stars.

The Mystery Of The Egyptian Desert Glass - BBC Documentary
Horizon follows a team of scientists set out to solve the mystery of chunks of ancient glass scattered in a remote part of the Sahara Desert. Their quest takes them on a perilous journey into the Great Sand Sea, the wastes of Siberia and the test site of the world's first atomic bomb in New Mexico.

In 1996 in the Egyptian Museum in Cairo, Italian mineralogist Vincenzo de Michele spotted an unusual yellow-green gem in the middle of one of Tutankhamun's necklaces.
The jewel was tested and found to be glass, but intriguingly it is older than the earliest Egyptian civilization.
Working with Egyptian geologist Aly Barakat, they traced its origins to unexplained chunks of glass found scattered in the sand in a remote region of the Sahara Desert.
But the glass is itself a scientific enigma. How did it get to be there and who or what made it?
The BBC Horizon program has reported an extraordinary new theory linking Tutankhamen gem with a meteor.
Ancient Egyptian Mummy Tomb in amazing condition and shape!
Here's an Egyptian mummy (from 185BC) displayed at the Canterbury Museum and which is in amazing condition and shape. Her name is Tash Pan Khonsu.
DETERMINING THE ANTIQUITY OF THE CANTERBURY MUSEUM MUMMY,
TASH PEN KHONSU
The inscriptions and decoration of both the sarcophagus
and the body cartonage of the mummy Tash pen Khonsu
(EA1989.13) suggest that she was from the late Ptolemaic
Period of Egyptian history, ca 150 BC (Dennison 1999;
Hutton 1895, 1900; Price 1893; Sullivan 1999; Waite
1906).
Obtaining accurate dates for the mummy and
sarcophagus was an important part of a larger research
project that examined the medical and social history of
Tash pen Khonsu (see Dennison 1999). In March 2003 a
sample of linen cloth from the mummy wrapping
(Fig. 1) and one from the cloth lining of the sarcophagus
base were taken for radiocarbon dating. Wood from
the body of the sarcophagus was not sampled for two
reasons, (1) it may have affected the appearance of the
sarcophagus (2) ‘in built’ ages of wood from mature trees
may have given a date older than the true age. Linen
samples could be taken with minor visible intrusion and
the subsequent radiocarbon analysis was likely to give an
accurate date.
SUMMARY OF RADIOCARBON DATING
Both samples taken in 2003 were divided into three
sub-samples, each of which was individually radiocarbon
dated by accelerator mass spectrometry (AMS) at the
Rafter Radiocarbon Laboratory, Institute of Geological
and Nuclear Sciences, Lower Hutt, New Zealand. The
weighted mean, of these three conventional radiocarbon
ages (CRA), for each sample was taken for calibration to
calendar years.
Because the radiocarbon dates for the samples from
2003 gave the unexpected result that the sarcophagus
was older than the mummy, two additional samples of
linen from the sarcophagus and mummy were sent to the
Rafter Laboratory in July 2005 for dating.
The Egyptian mummy Tash pen Khonsu, EA1989.13
(Fig. 1), was originally part of the Hilton Price collection
and purchased in London for £24 by Sir Julius von
Haast for Canterbury Museum in November 1887. The
second mummy obtained by Haast, A.R.1002.1 (which
was subsequently exchanged with Auckland Institute
and Museum in 1957) was almost certainly obtained,
with some assistance from Giglioli and Schiapparelli,
from Emile Brugsch of the Boulaq Museum in Cairo in
1887 for the sum of £5. The cost of the acquisitions was
funded by John Tinline. The only issue of provenance
that remains unanswered is establishing how, when and
where Hilton Price first obtained the mummy. A search
of the archives at the British Museum has not located

MOST CRAZY Things The Ancient Egyptians Did
You won't BELIEVE some of the craziest things ancient Egyptians did; from strange forms a bug repellent, to cat worship that maybe went a little too far !
Subscribe to American Eye
5. Head Shaving
In Ancient Egypt, it was quite common for everyone to keep their heads completely shaved for hygienic reasons. We might find this to be a little bizarre in modern times, but it was the norm during this period of time and both males and females had no problem with it. Head lice was a common problem and in order to get rid of the lice, hair was just razored off. Lice remedies proved to be quite ineffective and this was before the times of shampoo that we have today. What seems to be kind of strange about this whole thing is that while having hair that grew from your head was seen as unhygienic, hair in the form of wigs was perfectly fine. In fact, the wigs were seen as useful objects that were used to block the strong desert sun.
4. Cat Crazed
As we all know, in modern times, pretty much everyone out there with the internet is obsessed with cats! But in ancient Egypt these were the most sacred animal who had their own religious cult going for them. So it was much more serious back in this time. Egypt also had a problem with mice and they were seen as even more useful when they could capture these pests and get help them get rid of them. When someone lost their pet cat in these times, they would shave off their own eyebrows in mourning. Seems a little bit drastic. If someone was accused of killing a cat they would be given the capital punishment and sometimes, be thrown into a pit of snakes. Cats who were taken by foreign armies would have search parties trying to rescue them. The persians even released cats onto the battlefield knowing the egyptians would rather surrender than to put the cats in danger. It wasn’t just humans who were mummified either. There were over 80,000 cats discovered in 1888 at Beni Hasan 160 miles south of Cairo. Apparently someone fell into a tunnel of thousands of mummified cats! As if cats weren’t already creepy enough! As soon as locals heard word of this, they began flocking to the site immediately, hoping to find gold!. They would even occasionally come across some gold sarcophaguses built for the beloved cats. But it was really more a like an underground river of cat mummies
1.Meteorite Daggers
One of the most remarkable artifacts that was discovered in King Tut’s tomb was the meteor dagger. A new study of King Tut’s knives, proves that the iron in which it’s made from is not metal from this planet, and came from a fallen meteorite. In this photo, you can see the one and only meteorite dagger of King Tut. The iron blade was found wrapped around his right thigh, so that means it must have been a precious item to him. The only other dagger found on him was made of gold. What leads archaeologists to believe that this is dagger is from outer space, is that the iron was an extremely rare substance to come across during the bronze age. Researchers at the Polytechnic University in Milan in the 1970’s, had inconclusive results originally but taking advantage of new technology, they decided to test this theory again. The blade closely matched elements found in meteorites containing mostly iron, but cobalt and nickel as well. What else might we discover from this young man’s tomb?

Egypt reopens pyramid of pharaoh Unas
Egypt has reopened a pyramid after 20 years of closing.
The pyramid belongs to pharaoh Unas, the ninth and final king of the Fifth Dynasty about 4,400 years ago.
Though it is small in size, the pyramid is considered as one of the most important Egyptian pyramids, as it is believed the first pyramid to record the Pyramids Texts, a collection of ancient Egyptian religious texts from the time of the Old Kingdom.
