HIKING EHUKAI PILLBOXES TRAIL - HALEIWA - OAHU - HAWAII
Randonnée sur le sentier des bunkers d'Ehukai - Haleiwa - Oahu - Hawaii
Coordonnées GPS: 21°39'52.2N 158°02'58.2W
Vous trouverez plusieurs espaces de stationnement et des toilettes au parc Sunset Beach situé juste à côté de l'école primaire.
Le sentier, d'une longueur de 2,5 km aller-retour, débute à proximité de ce stationnement. Vous verrez une panneau orange à l'orée de la forêt sur lequel est indiqué entre autres Mahalo! C'est à cet endroit que débute le sentier.
Le sentier est situé dans une forêt et il est ombragé la majorité du temps.
L'ascension vers les bunkers (pillboxes) est tout de même assez laborieuse car la pente est raide et le sentier est envahi par les racines des arbres et les souches.
A certains endroits, des escaliers ont été creusés à même le sol et des cordes ont été installées pour nous aider à maintenir notre équilibre en cas de besoin.
Heureusement que le sol est sec car par temps de pluie, il devient certainement très glissant.
Environ à mi-chemin, une petite éclaircie dans la forêt nous permet d'avoir une vue partielle du littoral.
Le temps d'une petite pause pour admirer le panorama, nous repartons ensuite vers le premier bunker. Celui-ci offre également une vue partielle de la côte Nord de l'île d'Oahu.
Karine et Mélanie profitent du moment présent pour faire une petite danse endiablée! La folie des hauteurs!
Nous savons qu'il y a un second bunker à environ 5 à 10 minutes de marche. Nous poursuivons donc notre route vers celui-ci.
Le chemin n'est pas très bien identifié, mais comme le bunker est situé en bordure du littoral, nous continuons notre chemin. Nous finirons bien par trouver le second bunker.
Nous arrivons sur le dessus d'une petite colline et nous hésitons à poursuivre notre chemin. Finalement, nous amorçons la descente et apercevons le second bunker.
Celui-ci offre une superbe vue panoramique de la plage Ehukai appelée également Pipeline Banzai, l'un des endroits de surf les plus renommés mondialement.
Nous avons repris ensuite le même sentier et avons fait un petit arrêt près d'un curieux abri confectionné dans la forêt. Peut-être servait-il à un sans abri! Qui sait!
Lorsque nous avons atteint la petite éclaircie dans la forêt, l'océan revêtait de belles couleurs turquoises.
La descente est plutôt rocambolesque avec toutes ces racines qui entravent le sentier. Il faut être très prudent dans nos déplacements.
Notre randonnée a duré environ 90 minutes, comprenant toutes les pauses que nous avons prises.

Hiking ↑UP↑ Ehukia Pillbox - HAWAII 2018
On this day (February 2018), I hiked/explored Ehukia Pillbox in the state of Hawaii (Oahu). This hike (Dirt Trail) is fairly easy with an elevation gain of 600 feet (183 Meters) to the pillbox. The Trail begins next to the Pupakea Elementary school parking lot and the hike varies from 30 minutes to 1 hour based on environmental conditions. Once at the pillbox, there will be a breathtaking view of the North Shore.

The Ehukai Pillboxes hike is relatively short at only 2 miles and can be completed in around an hour to an 1.5 hours depending on how much time you spend at the summit. The summit is an old World War 2 bunker that over looks the Banzai Pipeline.

Hey guys! In this vlog, we hiked Kealia Trail on Dillingham Airfield in Hawaii's North Shore. The trail offers a panorama view of the ocean and a fun location to watch planes, gliders, and skydivers. On a mildly overcast day, this relatively new hike introduced us to the entire 1,100 acres of the Pupukea Paumalu State Park. We hiked old ranch roads, mountain bike trails, footpaths, and equestrian trails. At the 30 plus junctions, we asked, which way? so many times we should rename it the Which Way hike. But by carefully following the hike coordinator's many ribbons we ended up back where we parked our cars.

Pillbox Trail, Kailua
This is an unwell planning trip, but it comes out really good. Start off the day trip with Pillbox trail, then Lanikai beach, then drive to North Shore for Giovani's Garlic Shrimp after. The traffic is really terrible because of an huge accident, but we all enjoy it.

This week we went on a nice easy hike up Puu Maelieli. Bit of a rainy day but still fun hike. At the bunker at the end, I wanted to do a bit of exploring beyond it so followed the trail down towards the water. I think the HTMC just cleared this trail since it was so nice and easy! Didn't get to finish the loop since a few of the hikers stayed at the bunker to wait for us.

Hiking Kaena Point WWII Pill Box
This is the northern most point of Oahu, Hawaii. 1 mile to the top and 2100 steps! Check out more HIKING HAWAII videos from GREEN BERET UNLIMITED
There are actually 2 ways you can get to Ka‘ena Point. From the Wai‘anae side at the Keawaula Section of Ka‘ena Point State Park, take the trailhead to the far end of the paved road and follow the dirt path for approximately 2.5miles. At that point, you'll be at the Ka‘ena Point Natural Area Reserve. This route follows the shoreline on the southwest side. There are tide-pools, and sheer cliffs that rise above you to the Northeast. About half way, you'll see 2 small blowholes.
From the North Shore or Mokule‘ia side, park your vehicle near the end of the paved road and follow the bumpy dirt road for 2.5 miles. at the end of the road, there is a trail that extends along a flat coastal plain with sand dunes and raised limestone. The reserve is peaceful and protected, so be careful where you walk and stay on the path - there are signs to guide you. Endangered seabirds next here in the native flora. A navigational light is visible at the point.
This is a family friendly hike, and can be done at a leisurely pace. No pets are allowed in the Ka‘ena Point Natural Area Reserve.
