Places to see in ( Girona - Spain ) Bridge of Besalu
Places to see in ( Girona - Spain ) Bridge of Besalu
Touring Besalu doesn’t take more than a few hours, as it is pretty small. Logically, you could start your visit at the end of the famous medieval bridge that overlooks the area. Its foundations go back to the Roman times, as does the rest of the town. Besalu was actually a kingdom before Barcelona became the capital of Catalonia, and it was quite wealthy due to its geographical position.
Once you have crossed the bridge, there are various paths that lead to the river from which you can enjoy the bridge in its entire splendor. Take the time, along the way, to observe the many little quirks of the medieval streets and Plaça de la Libertat – that’s the best part.
Located on the Fluvía river.Passing through the towered entrance accesses the county's capital.Bridge of Besalu is believed to have been built in the 11th century on a Roman bridge and rebuilt during the 14th century. After being destroyed during the Civil War it was reconstructed again.
There are two angular sections and in the centre a tower with a small arch. The bridge has eight pointed arches. Access to the town is protected by two towers joined to the wall. These fortifications are used to defend access to the town and to collect tolls.

The Famous Bridge Over Girona(Made by Gostav Eiffel), Barcelona (Full HD)
GOSTAV EIFFEL
Girona Collection – Teaser
This, the most famous of Girona bridges, has three names: the Iron Bridge, the Fish Bridge, and the Eiffel Bridge, the latter giving away the name of its constructor, Gustave Eiffel. It was built in 1876, thirteen years before the inauguration of his most famous work, the Eiffel Tower of Paris.
Made with a riveted iron lattice work structure, with a length of 41.5 meters and 2.62 meters wide, it sits 7 meters above the Onyar river. The bridge gave a great deal of vitality to the city of Girona as it bridged La Rambla of the old city with the street of Santa Clara in the new. It replaced a historical wooden bridge, the only similarity between the two is the colour red, the same colour the wooden bridge had been painted.
When the sun shines, as it often does in Girona, the footbridge becomes emblazoned with the same shadows as the year it was built in 1877. It is these shadows that have served as the design inspiration for this first edition of our CHPT3 GIRONA collection, and whereas the greatest bike race in the world finishes under Eiffel’s shadow, our daily rides start under it.

Today we visit the charming Pont de les Peixateries Velles in Girona.
Built on a framework of iron and painted red, the Pont de les Peixateries Velles (Old Fishmongers bridge) crosses the Onyar river and connects the old town of Girona with the most modern area of the city.
In 1876, the City hired Gustave Eiffel, known for his work with iron, to replace a temporary wooden bridge. Once the bridge was finished, the town people named it the Pont de les Peixateries Velles, in memory of the fish market that was once near the river.
From the bridge, you can see the houses hanging over the river Onyar. These buildings have facades painted in different colors that make up one of the most emblematic images of the city of Girona.

Places to see in ( Girona - Spain ) Esglesia de Sant Feliu
The Collegiate Church of St. Felix is a basilica dedicated to St. Felix in the Spanish city of Girona, dating to the early days of Christianity. It houses the offices of the Parish of Sant Feliu, the Roman Catholic Diocese of Girona, so called because it was the main church of Girona before the construction of the cathedral.
Esglesia de Sant Feliu construction, in honor of Felix of Girona (Sant Feliu), occurred from the 12th century until the 17th century. It retains much of the Romanesque construction, completed later with a Gothic nave and a covered baroque facade.
Esglesia de Sant Feliu is notable for its eight Roman and early Christian sarcophagi of the 3rd and 4th centuries, along with the Gothic tomb of Narcissus of Girona who, according to tradition, was one of the early bishops of the see.
