El Faro Lighthouse

El Faro
El Faro Lighthouse Tour - Mazatlan Mexico Drones
The Mazatlan lighthouse was first built in 1879, and at the time was the highest in the world. Our lighthouse still holds onto second place today not because the structure itself is all that impressive but because of the 515 ft. hill it is perched on. The hike takes from 10-30 minutes depending on your fitness starting with a steep dirt road, then trail and finally 325 steps.
It's well worth the hike as you will find the best view in the city. The ideal time is sunrise or sunset and you find the trail scattered with both locals using the hill for their daily workout and a few tourist as well. The view is spectacular and the lighthouse is staffed with security around the clock offering water and gatorade when you reach the summit.
Use caution as the climb is fairly steep and there are some areas that could use railings near the top.

EL FARO (The Lighthouse) en Mazatlan
Sunrise at Mazatlan's Lighthouse El Faro on my bday 10-9-2012! This is where I live and serve. Claiming this city for Jesus! Praying for the violence, corruption and injustices to end and for all to come to the saving grace of Jesus, as Lord and Savior of Mazatlan and all of Mexico (and USA). May we bow only to Him and say we believe.
Started the more than 300 concrete stair climb around 7am (523 feet) after half way up of a dirt path, so this video is after getting to the top as I filmed and snapped photos all along the way up this is the beginning of my descent. This has been on my to do bucket list for 16 yrs. after being here. Ended the day at the Mirador Restaurant on yonder hill at sunset with the same view including the Faro.
Mazatlán's famous lighthouse began operating in mid-1879. The maritime signals had been manufactured in Paris, France, and consisted of a large oil lamp with mirrors to reflect and enhance light. Because the light was static, in the distance the light was often mistaken for a star. It was not until 1905, when the lamp was replaced by a turntable. Therefore the Mazatlan lighthouse was the highest in the world. The Mirador restaurant says it is the highest. El Faro is the second naturally highest lighthouse in the world and the highest WORKING lighthouse (Gibraltor is the highest, but it's now a bed and breakfast)
The song is from You Tube choices. Say You Believe with Amanda Kaletsky. I wish I could get it to repeat or add another one to finish the video.

Mazatlan light house tour 2019
While staying in Mazatlan over Christmas break, we decided to hike the highest lighthouse aka El Faro! We saved energy and time on taking a red truck directly to the light house. Climbing up the mountain takes much longer than walking down. Do not plan too many activities that day. I highly recommend bringing lots of water and a hat.
Hilltop lighthouse in west Mexico becomes world’s tallest
Hilltop lighthouse in west Mexico becomes world’s tallest
This lighthouse built on the mountain in Mexico’s west state of Sinaloa silently watches over 60 ships ferry into the Pacific port of Mazatlan day and night from Europe and the Far East.
Local people and scholars now allege it as the world’s tallest lighthouse built on natural terrains, 157 meters above the sea level.
(Soundbite) Dolores Hernandez, College Professor
This lighthouse is the world's tallest natural lighthouse. Formerly it was the second tallest as the lighthouse on Rock of Gibraltar (in Spain) was the first. After it stopped working, ours became the world's tallest natural lighthouse.
Situated over the largest port and sight-seeing spot along Mexico’s Pacific coast, the lighthouse has been a landmark since its maiden operation around 1828, and attracted boats as well as visitors incessantly.
(Soundbite) Omar Montion, Businessman
As for Mazatlan, it is an icon. It is the No. 1 lighthouse built naturally. It is our privilege to have it here.
Surviving decades of erosion and vandalism, the Mazatlan lighthouse still retains its rotating vigor, brightening the way for brave seamen and telling visitors about the splendor of Mexico’s long maritime history.
La Jolla Boutique Resort And El Faro the Lighthouse
This video captured by La Jolla Boutique Resort is another installment video of the series of videos brought by La Jolla Boutique Resort management so tourists like you can have a peek of the many interesting and beautiful places that hides in Mazatlan. Featured here in this La Jolla Boutique Resort video is the famous Mazatlan lighthouse called El Faro.
The signs that can be seen around Mazatlan that says Faro will lead you to this place. The lighthouse is confidently built atop the Creston mountain just opposite where La Jolla Boutique Resort is recording this footage. The location is in the extreme southwest of Mazatlan few kilometers away from La Jolla Boutique Resort property.
Creston mountain stands one-hundred and fifty-seven meters high, considered for many years as the highest lighthouse in the world. Though many lighthouses have surpassed El faro's record by now, nothing can beat the part played by this magnificent lighthouse to Mazatlan's history. Just as nothing can beat La Jolla Boutique Resort from giving you a premier class service comforts when you come to the dazzling city of Mazatlan and stay right at La Jolla Boutique Resort timeshare units.
On the way to the top of Creston mountain is a zigzag road which can be seen from the video courtesy of La Jolla Boutique Resort. At the top is where you can marvel the picturesque view of the city of Mazatlan. Seen from above is also the view of fishing fleets down at your right when standing at El Faro. Some La Jolla Boutique Resort guests who are seasoned and amateur anglers come here and rent fishing boats to try out the fun-filled luck that fishing reserves.
This Mazatlan lighthouse began its service in the middle of 1879 which lights are manually crafted in Paris. At that time, the lights coming from the large oil lamp with mirrors to reflect its bright illumination is mistaken by most as a star afar since it was stationary by then. But in early 1900's it was converted into a revolving lamp, just like the usual lighthouse that operates today. From 60 kilometers in the ocean, about 30 nautical miles, the light can be seen brightened by the powerful 1000 watt bulb that makes El Faro today.
This magnificent view of the historical lighthouse in Mazatlan is one tour destination of the arranged treat of sight-seeing schedules of La Jolla Boutique Resort management to all La Jolla Boutique Resort vacationers.
Surely your stay at La Jolla Boutique Resort will be an unforgettable experience of a lifetime. All the many things are waiting for you to discover and marvel upon.

Would You Live on this Island!? (Mazatlán Ep. 3)
Welcome to Rock Island!
In today's Mazatlán vlog we hike to the top of the lighthouse, explore the island de piedra, and eat some amazing food. Over our last few days in Mazatlán we have had the pleasure of getting to know another gem of a Mexican town. If you are considering retiring in Mexico or moving to Mexico, Mazatlán deserves to be on your list! It has many of the same benefits and qualities of a town like Puerto Vallarta- but it isn't nearly as popular with international tourism- so you might find it a little more peaceful. Though, it is important to note that our amigos Sinaloenses know how to party so don't be surprised to find the Malecon packed with locals and Mexican tourists on the weekends!
