Ram Falls Provincial Park Camping | Journey Alberta
Today I travel out to Ram Falls Provincial Park to stay at the campground there for a night! We have an awesome camp site and the campground was great. Our site was right near the bathroom and the sites were nicely spaced out from each other. While in the campground we noticed it is much quieter than some other places I've been to. The sites were nicely spaced apart and offered a decent amount of privacy. We ventured down to Ram Falls itself to take in the massive 30 meter waterfall. It's definitely one of those places you have to experience in person!

Kananaskis Peter Lougheed Provincial Park Camping (4K) | Journey Alberta
Today I go camping for a night in the Peter Lougheed Provincial Park section of Kananaskis Country! I camp with my Mom and her boyfriend Ken at the Boulton Creek Campground at site D-120/D-121. On our first day it rained a lot so we spent some time at the visitor center in the park, exploring the building. When the rain stopped, we headed to the North Interlakes Day Use area to do a short hike by the shore of the Upper Kananaskis Lake. Our second day takes us to the Elbow Sheep Wildland where we do the hike to the Rae Glacier! It takes us past the backcountry campground at Elbow Lake, and then up towards the glacier for an amazing hike.

Elbow Falls, Alberta, Canada
Elbow Falls is a beautiful place to stop and do some sight seeing, or just to enjoy being out of the city! If you live in the north end of Calgary, you can be there in as little at 40-50 minutes. Amenities include, parking lot, out houses, walking paths, hiking trails.
The area also features a few different look out points, trails to hike, and a cool little place to hang out by the water if you want to go where we were in the video. To get there, you go to the furthest lookout point, hop a small fence (easy), walk down the beaten path and make your way down to the water.
There are other cool places to check out on the way to and from Elbow Falls, so be sure to pack some food/water/sunscreen and try to make a day of it!

Camping in Kananaskis (Peter Lougheed Provincial Park) - 2018
We spent 4 days / 5 nights camping in Kananaskis (Peter Lougheed Provincial Park to be more precise) from July 12 to 17. We stayed at the Elkwood campground, site C70. We took two vehicles so that Dana could head back home early and I stayed with the boys. We did a number of hikes:
- To Sarrial Falls
- Ptarmigan Cirque
- Troll Falls
- Elbow Lake Trail (including around the lake)
- Marl Lake Trail
We wanted to go to Rawson Lake as well, but the hike was closed due to bear activity. As you will see, we also spent a LOT of time down by both Upper and Lower Lake as the boys love to throw rocks into the lakes. We went to the amphitheatre for the three nights that they had plays going on and they were really good. Jasper even participated one night as an elephant flower.
In the end, we had a lot of fun and had great weather!

Elbow River Falls, Alberta, Canada
Elbow Falls is a small waterfall about 40 minutes west of Calgary, Alberta, Canada. Easily accessible by car with no hiking or climbing required, paved pathways lead to the viewpoint this was shot from, though flood plain rockbeds need to be traversed to reach the river above the falls. (River below the falls is not accessible, as the cliff gets higher.) Great for day tripping from Calgary, though the picnic area took a real beating from the 2013 floods, a few tables remain on the far west end (opposite end of the parking lot from the falls).
Sorry for the poor quality iPhone video, I forgot my good camera.
Bragg Creek Visit - 2017
Take a tour of Bragg Creek to see what it it's like to live. work and play here. We live hidden in the forested foothills of the Rocky Mountains, 40 minutes west of Calgary, Alberta. The community has an interesting history, influenced by the Elbow River and the wild lands that surround us, providing a venue for outdoor adventure that sustains us and those who come to visit.
Troll Falls Landscape Photography | Kananaskis Country (EP.4)
I originally put this vlog together back in the fall without necessarily intending to publish it on youtube. I just wanted to have a look at the idea. Anyway, since I did decide to publish a few other landscape photography vlogs, I thought I would publish this one as well... In this video I head out to Troll Falls in the Canadian Rockies in an area called Kananaskis Country to photograph some amazingly waterfalls.
