Elephant Adventures in Phuket, Thailand
My family and I took a trip across the world to the beautiful country of Thailand. Once we arrived our adventure began. We bathed with elephants, took boats to the Phi Phi Islands, spent time in Patong Beach, and so much more. This was definitely a bucket list vacation and I hope these vlogs capture the beauty that is Thailand.

This is a tradition that's about to disappear. The buffalo is a part of our rice-growing culture, they are used to plough the land. We need to preserve the tradition of showing our gratitude to the animals.
12. Various buffaloes ploughing the land in the village
13. Mid shot the two animals eating together
STORYLINE:
Boonpan and Meegnu got married in a rice field in northern Thailand on Saturday - nothing unusual in that, except that the bride and groom were water buffaloes.
The two beasts of burden were joined together in a ceremony to honour the special place the animals occupy in the life of rural Thailand.
The two hadn't met before their big day; Meegnu is a native of the village of Ban Mae Kanin, where the ceremony was held, while Boonpan was brought in from a neighbouring province.
As in many weddings, musicians played to get everyone in the party mood. Several hundred people turned out to watch the spectacle, along with more than a hundred buffaloes.
The couple didn't seem too enamoured of each at their first introduction, but it wasn't long before they were happily getting to know each other over their favourite food.
The union had more than a semblance of legality about it; the village headman and an official from the Livestock Department signed papers to register the nuptials.
For centuries, the water buffalo was the key animal in the economy of the countryside, dragging a plough through the paddy fields to prepare for the planting of the rice.
These days, many Thai farmers use machinery instead and the result has been a significant drop in the buffalo population.
A decade ago, there were 10 million of them in Thailand, now there are only 1.7 million. The village of Ban Mae Khanin has about a hundred water buffaloes.
Villagers say they want to do all they can to keep the animals as part of their everyday lives. That means a similar wedding every year, with the added hope it'll become a tourist attraction.
This sort of wedding ceremony is nothing new in Thailand; in recent years elephants have got married on Valentine's Day and two orangutans had a huge wedding in 1996.
