Walking with Elephants | Vlog 44
Therese & Tor traveling Cape Town, and then rest of the world.
Knysna Elephant Park, 6 hours drive from Cape Town. So worth it.
Plenty of information about Elephants, and you can feed them, and walk with them too.
The elephant rangers will look after you, provide you with information and aid you in having the best experience possible. We felt so safe that walking with our elephants (yes you get one assigned) was as natural as walking with your very huge dog.
You can find them at:
We would reccomend anybody going for a visit at this Elephant Sanctuary.
We said it: at one point we will come back and work as volunteers there. It's a safe haven for Elephants!

Knysna Elephant Park
Trip to Knysna Elephant Park, Western Cape of South Africa
Website
Knysna Elephant Sanctuary In South Africa.
We drove to Knysna, which is about 5 hours outside of Cape Town. It was a beautiful day and there was very little traffic. We got to the cottage around 8:30 at night. The office was closed and we had to get the keys to the cottage out of the lockbox in front of the office. Good thing I called ahead to let them know about our late arrival because there is a code for the lock box. The place is called Brenton on sea cottages. It is like a resort and a hotel is also built on the same property. The staff cleans the cottage every morning and we also get clean towels, but it is self catering, so we have to either cook or go to a restaurant for meals. It was $91 per night and the cottage sleeps 6. The Knysna Elephant sanctuary is a place where orphaned elephants or those rejected by their mother go. The elephants are kept in a huge covered area at night to protect them from poachers.
Most of the elephants are easy to interact with there was only one of them who is known as the bully and won't allow you to take any close up photos. The surprising thing about their skin is that it is actually soft.

Knysna elephant alive and well
The mysterious Knysna elephant, which was once hunted almost to extinction, is alive and well in the Garden Route National Park.
Scientists from SANParks have released fresh visual evidence of a lone female elephant roaming in the park. However, research also indicates that it could be the LAST remaining Knysna elephant.

We headed off to The Knysna Elephant Park to check out our new Project site, and meet the team behind this amazing place.
By going solar through The Sun Exchange, the park will be able to put more of their financial resources into the attractions and animal welfare rather than buying dirty fossil fuel based grid energy.
Each solar cell you buy will cut the park's energy bills by 10% and earn you 20 years of income backed by the power of the sun.

1 Knysna elephant remains
Sanparks last week released results of research conducted in the Knysna forest, which captured what may be the last free-ranging elephant roaming the area and moving along at least five different properties. The results of the project came with a powerful debunking of any theories advancing the view that there is more than one tusker left in the area.
