Families have been enjoying Elie Holiday Park for generations. Nestled behind dunes and a sandy beach, the park is a popular destination for people of all ages. Bordered by a sweeping sandy beach and forest, it’s also home to the UK’s only Robinson Crusoe Adventure Park which pays a fitting tribute to a remarkable Scottish adventurer, whose life became immortalised as Robinson Crusoe. Surrounded by palm trees and complete with an exhilarating zip-wire the two-masted sailing ship has been shipwrecked on a remote fantasy desert island.
Holidaymakers can enjoy the Fife Coastal Path, go rock-pooling or simply take in the breathtaking views. The area is also home to an array of wildlife, including seals, the rare red squirrel, many young deer and is a haven for birdwatchers. David Bellamy recently awarded Elie Holiday Park a Gold Conservation Award. The team at Abbeyford Leisure work hard with the local community and encourage school groups to enjoy the park and beach for free.
The park has an on-site eatery, Kincraig View Restaurant which offers a wide range of delicious, locally sourced dishes. Families can also enjoy regular live entertainment at Ruddons Bar.
Here’s a flavour of what some of the visitors to Elie Holiday Park had to say about the attraction:
“It’s where memories that last a lifetime are created – it’s a true hidden gem!”
“A great location that’s close to the beach. Our kids love the children’s play area”
Return To Shell Bay
Shell Bay is a mostly sandy beach with some pebbles closer to the water's edge. It lies in a secluded area of the Fife coastline, looking south onto the Firth of Forth.
Behind the beach there is a caravan park with children's play area, shop, café and toilets. The beach is popular for swimming as well as walking, with the 117-mile Fife Coastal Path passing the beach.

Old Photographs Of Elie East Neuk Of Fife Scotland
Tour Scotland wee video of old photographs of Elie, Scottish Gaelic, èaladh, a coastal town in the East Neuk of Fife, on the north coast of the Firth of Forth. Little is known of the foundation of Elie, but it had become sufficiently important to merit the building of Elie Parish Church in 1639. Elie's harbour was expanded in 1850. The nearby railway, part of the Fife Coast Railway, was built in 1857, and extended through Elie to Anstruther in 1863. The villages opened up to the affluent tourist trade of Victorian times in the 1870s, which saw regular steamers from North Berwick and Leith in Edinburgh. The explosion of modern communications saw the nature of the local economy change. Coal mining dwindled after the railway came to the area. Cotton weavers abandoned their trade after the switch to linen made from imported flax. Fishing gradually declined. The growing tourist trade caused a local building boom, which would have provided work for stonemasons. There were also golf club makers in the village for many years. The film The Winter Guest, starring Emma Thompson and Phyllida Law, directed by Alan Rickman, was filmed here. A notable landmark is Lady's Tower, built in 1760 for Lady Janet Anstruther to use as a changing room prior to her morning bathing routine. She was the daughter of a Scottish merchant and renowned for her beauty and reputation as a flirt. Prior to her skinny dipping she sent out one of her servants into the town of Elie to advise local residents of her imminent skinny dipping so they would stay away from her private tower.
Fife Coastal Route / Top 7 attractions / Scotland road trip
With a total distance of 77 miles (124km), the Fife Coastal Route runs as you’d expect almost entirely along the coast. It takes in the historic Kingdom of Fife and rather neatly, it starts and ends on bridges crossing two of Scotland’s greatest rivers: the Firth of Forth and the Tay. The bridges over the Forth rank among some of the finest in the UK.
Charming cobbled streets tumble down to the miniature harbour, which is sheltered by cliffs and surrounded by historic fishing cottages. Crail is a historic fishing village on the East Neuk of Fife coast and is well worth a visit.
Only 90 minutes by car from Edinburgh and 10 miles south of St Andrews, the Home of Golf.
Crail is the most easterly of the line of coastal settlements along the south side of the East Neuk of Fife. Many would also say it is also the most attractive of them, though each has its own unique character. Crail is a wonderful place to visit at any time of year, though it's probably at its best on a bright day in Winter when you stand more chance of having it to yourself.
Anstruther is a charming fishing village in the East Neuk of Fife, popular with day-trippers and holidaymakers.
Located south of St Andrews, Anstruther is the largest in a string of pretty, old-fashioned fishing villages along the stretch of Fife coast known as the East Neuk.
Perhaps the top attraction is simply tucking into a quality fish supper from the Anstruther Fish Bar, which in recent years has won a number of awards including UK Fish and Chip Shop of the year. Enjoy the locally caught fish by the harbour as fishing boats land their catch.
In the 1790s, salt was Scotland’s third-largest export, after wool and fish. The ruins at St Monans saltworks, adjacent to the Fife Coastal Path, is a reminder of this industry that was once very important to the Scottish economy. The windmill at St Monans—the last remaining windmill in Fife—was used to pump sea water into the salt pans, which were then heated by local coal.
Elie is a popular seaside town in the East Neuk of Fife.
A picturesque seaside resort, Elie is gathered around a curve of golden sand. The harbour, established in the 16th century, is a popular with yachts and small pleasure craft while the surrounding bay is popular with windsurfers and bathers.
The town is also home to two fantastic golf courses. James Braid, celebrated golf course designer and five times winner of the British Open Golf Championship in the early 20th century was born in Elie.
Aberdour Silver Sands is one of the most popular and attractive beaches on the Fife coast.
Silver Sands offers the freshness and variety of the seaside as well as the peace and tranquillity of the countryside. The shore, in its charming setting, looks out to the islands of Inchmickery and Inchcolm, where there is a famous abbey.
Aberdour Silver Sands is a great place for a family day out, with a kids’ putting green and a bouncy castle in the summer.
Historic Culross is one of Scotland's most picturesque towns.
It is believed that Culross was founded by St Serf, and is located in the south west of Fife, overlooking the Firth of Forth.
Wandering around this charming town is about as close to stepping back in time to the 16th century as possible. The whitewashed, red-tiled buildings are well preserved, such as the Town House, where witches were tried and held while awaiting execution.
