An American Railfan in Poland: Elk museum and trainride
This chapter of ARinP takes us to the railroad museum at Elk, which features standard gauge plus 750mm and 600mm narrow gauge displays. Then we ride the 750 mm gauge railroad that was still providing local rail service in 2000, but nevermore.
IMHO, not many American rail enthusiasts realize the number and the quality of railfan experiences that are to be found scattered throughout Poland. Some have a vague knowledge of the Wolsztyn Experience, and a few of us have even enjoyed it, but few realize that it is possible to enjoy a great railfan holiday in Poland without even visiting Wolsztyn -- although I can't imagine why any railfan would go to Poland and not visit Wolsztyn. My goal in this series of videos (don't know yet how many there will be) is to share with my compatriots the railfan highlights of my visits to Poland in 2000 and 2003. I hope they will be interesting, entertaining, and maybe even inspire some of you to see it for yourself.
Steam railway. Elk. Poland 1991
1991 was the last year with a lot of steam locomotive traffic on the steam railways around Elk in eastern Poland.
We experienced steam locos on the line to Mikolajki/ Mragowo. Ruciane Nida. Goldap, Suwalki and some sidelines in direction of Korze.
Locomotives class Ty2 / Ty42 and Ol49.
This video have a scene from Elk station and scenes from the roundhouse , parowosowny, where locomotives arrived and left regurarly during the day.
I had a hired VHS camera, so big that i had to rest it on my shoulder. (!)
The quality of the VHS videos was not good and the camera man was a novice but i hope You like it anyway!

Durundur Railway
The Durunder Railway is a 2 foot (610mm) gauge tourist railway operated by the Australian Narrow Gauge Railway Museum Society (ANGRAMS) at their museum site a Woodford, 75km north of Brisbane in Queensland, Australia.
The railway operates on the trackbed of the former QR Wamuran - Kilkoy 3'6 gauge branch line.
As the name suggests, ANGRAMS preserves equipment from the extensive network of 2' gauge Shire and Suagr Mill owned tramways (railways) that operated in Queensland, with an emphasis on the steam era.

Bieszczadzka Forest Railway, Poland
The Bieszczady Forest Rail, Zubracze, Majdan, Poland 2016
In 1996 the Bieszczady Forest Rail Foundation (with a seat at Cisna) being the rail user until now was created85. The Foundation’s activity objective is the area tourist activation through the historic rail traffic retention which leads to natural environment
condition improvement in the UNESCO International Biosphere Reserve Eastern Carpathians. The rail uniqueness is stressed by the fact that it is currently the only rail in Poland (and one of few in Europe) whose route is running in the mountain area. Rides
on the BFR are only of tourist character – unfortunately, it is not an alternative sort of transport for the region’s inhabitants.
During the last years the foundation conducted a range of inventory activities,
including a station building renovation in Majdan. Gradually it also enlarged the rail’s “Sustainable transport: integration possibilities of existing narrow-gauge railways lines, traditional railway lines
and alternative transport routes in the Polish-Slovak border region with particular consideration of Podkarpackie Voivodeship in Poland and the Presov region in Slovakia”
