This holiday season my wife and I got the chance to travel to Ella Town, Sri Lanka ඇල්ල නගරය, we traveled by car till Nanu Oya train station and caught the most Instagramed train journey and we where lucky to get into the Blue train. We vlogged our experience in the train and in Ella whilst staying 2 nights at this Cabin with the most amazing views of the Nine Arch Bridge.

Hi travellers,
Yes, going from Kandy to Ella is pretty common. However, in this video I show the long ride from Ella to Kandy in the 2nd class carriage.
I stood pretty much the whole way. Gee, do not make my mistake and go on a weekend. Bank holidays are apparently worse. It is a lonnnnng time to be standing.
This particular train left Ella at 9:23 and arrived in Kandy at 4:30. I arrived at Ella train station a little bit before 9am.
I bought my ticket within the hour of departure and just pitched up to the station. As you can see there might be a line. In 2nd class they will not run out of tickets as you just squish on.
You carry your luggage onto the carriage and most people put it above the heads. However, this was a full train and most of the space was taken. Mine stood in the aisle and it was fine.
Have fun, its a beautiful trip with plenty of photo opportunities and friendly fellow passengers.

- comfy shoes, in case you have to stand
- a light sweater in case the weather cools off

Today's train from Kandy to Ella was a MUST on our Sri Lanka bucket list. We initially thought we would do as many tourists have a peak our head out of the train's doors but something we NEVER expected happened. We got invited to enjoy the rest of the train ride from the CONDUCTOR'S CAB!
