A day at Elsecar Heritage Centre near Barnsley, South Yorkshire sees passenger trains behind 250hp diesel shunter number 2895, built in 1965 by the Yorkshire Engine Company of Rotherham, and Peckett 0-6-0 saddle tank number 2150, named Mardy Monster, of 1954. Mardy Monster was one of 3 built of its class, the most powerful industrial steam locomotives ever built in Britain. Filmed 28/7/2013.

Francis MacDonald, the cafe manager at Elsecar Park, was given an 8 month suspended sentence and 100 hours community service after firing a shot gun in the air to scare off youths who, he claims, were vandalising the park. Today We have A Trip Out To Elsecar Heritage Centre In Barnsley , The Old iron Works is Now used For Events Like Antique Fairs Etc .
It Also has Its own train Station With Steam Trains And Carriages For The Public To Take Short trips on . Eslecar is A Beautiful Yorkshire Village And Also Has A Beautiful Park Area To Be Enjoyed .
Our channel is built up around motorhoming and the places we visit such has campsites we use or stopovers / wildcamping etc but occaisionaly we have day trips visiting events etc and make videos about them , we hope that some of you may be interested in these even though they are not specifically about motorhomes .

UK - 117 year old GWR tank loco at Elsecar Heritage Centre, 31st October 2018
Great Western Railway number 813 made a return visit to the county of its building briefly in October 2018. The 0-6-0 saddle tank was built in 1901 by Hudswell Clarke of Leeds for the Port Talbot Railway, later to be absorbed into the Great Western Railway.
The saddle tank was performing WW1 memorial trains at Elsecar Heritage Centre in Barnsley, South Yorkshire, accompanied by a North Eastern Railway autocoach of a similar vintage. The coach has tiny driving windows in one end, from which a guard/under driver can signal to the loco driver if any danger is spotted on the track. I'm not certain this meets modern health & safety requirements but all seemed to pass without disaster.
The opening shots are taken around the station and yard area at Elsecar and then, later, we see 813 passing through some of the beautiful autumn woodland scenes along the line.

Elsecar Heritage Centre : Tribute to the End of World War One
For the first week of November 2018, Elsecar Heritage Centre in Barnsley South Yorkshire, hosted an event called Home Front.
Actors were used to play local soldiers returning home from the war and tell their stories of life during World War One.
The event also featured a 25 minute train journey on a carriage that was authentic to the era.
It ran up to November 11th 2018, the 100th anniversary of the end of the conflict.
