During the summer you can hike along the paths of Otepää nature park, admire rolling hills and lakes, winding village roads and small rivers. The nearby Pühajärve is one of the largest lakes in Estonia and is perfectly suited for a quiet weekend camping trip in the wild.
Otepää is first and foremost known as a ski resort and here you can enjoy cross country and downhill skiing, as well as snowboarding and snowtubing.
While holidaying in Otepää, you might just come across Olympic medalists sliding by during a daily training session. From sportsmen to romantic souls and photographers, this quiet little town is loved by many.

The biggest motorsports event in the Baltics, Rally Estonia, will return in 2018 bigger and better than before. In addition to the best drivers of Estonia and the Baltics, the curvy and bumpy South-Estonian gravel roads will welcome some of the world’s top drivers. Shell Helix Rally Estonia 2018 is a round FIA Baltic Rally Trophy, Estonian Rally Championship and Latvian Rally Championship.
The 3 rally days will keep the whole family entertained. With the help of innovative solutions the rally will be made even more convenient and safe for the spectators to watch from the spectator spots. The start and finish ceremony will take place in the centre of Tartu next to an LHV autolaen AUTOEXPO and entertainment area. An exciting city special stage will be run at the Song Festival Ground in Tartu, followed by an open air concert. Service Park and Rally Headquarters are located at Otepää.

Tartu linnas toimuvate jooksude ajalooline pärl ehk Tartu Linnamaraton taastati 2012. aastal. Joosta saab nii täispikka 42km distants kui ka 21km pikkust poolmaratoni ja 10km jooksu. Tartu Linnamaraton on Eestis unikaalne jooks, kuna distants joostakse ühel ringil ja suurem osa sellest linna südames. 5. Tartu Linnamaraton toimub 1. oktoobril 2016.

The tradition of Tartu City Run was reinstated four years ago for the 30th anniversary of Club Tartu Marathon running events. On 2nd of October, 1983 the first Tartu City Run was held with a distance of 19,2km. In 1999 Tartu City Run was moved to Elva and from the year 2000 it is known as Tartu Jooksumaraton and takes place in the spring.
