In this 13th episode of our 2017 trip across the United States on the Trans America Trail (aka: TAT), we travel from Moab, a very popular town for off-road vehicles and mountain bikers, as well as the central point to Canyonlands and Arches National Parks. From here we move deep into the San Rafael Desert, a very desolated yet breathtaking area to then stay the night at a very magical place call Temple Mountain, with its pictographs believed to date as far back as 8,000 years ago. The next day we journey deeper into the canyons until we reached the town of Castle Dale where once again we stumble upon a delicious burger joint . Just another amazing section of the TAT. This Trans America Trail crosses the country from the Atlantic Coast to the Pacific Coast mostly off-road. Please stay tuned as we are committed to bringing you new episodes in the coming weeks. TAT Trans American Trail Utah
Fail is at 2:00 mark. The rest is TAT clips from Utah.
Tue Aug 8 - Day 4 Three Step (La Sal UT - Ferron UT
Great night at the 3 step. Took the hard line up Geyser pass and had my first get off. Stu made it up with no problems. The ride down into Moab was spectacular scenery. I went out on slickrock but ran into another TATer having some problems on a bigger bike a few miles in. Stu and I worked with Brad to get him lined up for the exit out of the wash he was in, and did it again a while later (in video). The extra activities heated me up and I bailed while Stu did some more of slickrock. In Moab we ate and headed out to Green River. Once off the highway you get a real nice climb and some good riding up on a mesa for 10 to 15 miles. After that it is just moderate to high speed gravel in the heat to Green River, worst part of the day. We headed out of Green River at 5:00. I was not feeling the best so I opted for the green line to stay on schedule. I'm glad I did, and had a great ride out on the green line, some really fun washes, rocks, and sand for the first hour. The deep ruts in the hard pack provided plenty of action to get a proper attitude back. I was happy for no rain for that part. High speed gravel for the next hour and stayed at Gillies in Ferron, no gas in town.
232 miles
Wed Aug 9 - Day 5 Ferron UT - Kanosh
Ferron to Emery was a fast 12 miles on slab. Gassed up in Emery. A few miles out of Emery you turn off the slab and start to climb. Weather was good and the trail was a mix of hard pack and rocks. As we climbed it became apparent that it had recently rained, and the trail turned to mud and rock. The trail turned from forest road to an ATV trail. Stu said with a happy tone this looks interesting, and it was. Fortunately for me there were more rock sections than mud; however, I made it through with only one get off. I didn't get too worked up about it as the sun was shining and up there the temps were cool. It took several hours to get to Richfield with no doldrums. Out of Richfield to Kanosh there was more great riding, and the mud had all but dried up. It was a low miles day as there was minimal fast gravel. Tomorrow it is Baker NV and beyond.
154 miles

Thu Aug 10 - Day 6 Kanosh - Lund
Had an early start out of Kanosh; loaded up the bikes in the dark and headed out at sunrise. A little bit of fun stuff to start off turned into fast gravel for the ride to Baker. We did the 125 mile run in well under 3 hours. Baker to Lund was a mix of everything. My favorite part was about midway to Lund, you make your way through a juniper and pinion stand following a wash with no discernible trail (that part will be in the NV video). Just follow the blue line. The rest of the ride was varied and kept my attention. Baker to Lund was very good run.
Miles 250.

HARDEST SECTION OF THE TAT?: Four-Up Coast to Coast Motorcycle Adventure (DAY 5)
Wow, we could have never predicted how hard today was going to be. We crashed a handful of times, had to pick the bike up more then we wanted and pushed our mental limits to the edge.

2017 Trans America Trail Maine to Oregon Trailer
A preview of a video series about 2 guys from Maine that rode DR650's from Maine to North Carolina then completed the entire Trans America Trail to Oregon.
Giant 390 Nevada bull elk rutting and bugling
I filmed this bull with my digascoping set up at about 3/4 of a mile. Audio is not great but it does pick up the 2 bulls bugling. This bull thrashes around and puts on a nice show. This is with a Swarovski spotting scope and a point and shoot camera. Better then no footage at all right.
Bull elk rutting in Nevada
Hear is a Bull I filmed last year in Nevada shortly after he wallowed and got caked in mud. You can hear several other bulls bugling in the distance as this big bull answers there challenges. I cant wait to get back there soon.

VLOG73 Walkabout and Scout Carleton college walking trails MN
VLOG73 Walkabout and Scout Carleton college walking trails MN. Cold and miserable day deserved a walk about. I had heard about these walking trails from a co-worker. So thought I would go walk about and look at these trails. Located close to downtown Northfield, Carleton College has a reserve that follows the Cannon River. A little noisey but still a nice walk about. Still looking for e regular walk about location close to home. Did get a few good pictures and even fitted in a 2 minute tip. A bad day made better.
