Didim ya da eski ismiyle Yenihisar, Aydın'ın turistik bir ilçesidir. Doğuda Muğla il sınırı, Güllük Körfezi ve Akbük Koyu, batıda ve güneyde Ege Denizi, kuzeyde Bafa Gölü ve Menderes Nehri ile sınırlanmış bir yarımada şeklindedir. Yüzölçümü 402 km²'dir. 2015 yılı nüfus sayımı sonuçlarına göre 73.827 kişi yaşayan ilçede 16 mahalle bulunmaktadır.Didim ilçesinin ilk yerleşim izleri Neolitik Devre (MÖ 8000) uzanır. MÖ 16. yüzyılda Miken, Giritliler ve daha sonra da Aka kolonilerinin varlığı görülür. Persler, Romalılar ve Bizanslılardan sonra 1071 Malazgirt Meydan Muharebesi'nden sonra Anadolu'nun kapılarının Türklere açılmasından sonra ilk olarak Karia olarak anılan bu bölge Türklerin eline geçmiştir. 1. Haçlı Seferlerinin ardından yeniden Bizans'ın eline geçti. 1261 yılından sonra Karia’da Menteşe Beyliği'nin kurulmasıyla Didim ve çevresi bu beyliğin içine alınmıştır.
Osmanlı İmparatorluğu zamanında varlığını Yeronda - Yoran ismi ile sürdürmüştür. 1924'ün 23 Mart'ında Lozan Antlaşması gereği Selanik'in Pravuşta bölgesi ve köylerinden (Kuçkar, Devekıran) gelen mübadiller Didim'in ilk sahipleri olmuşlardır. Yoran'dan giden Rumlar ise gittikleri yerde Nea Yeronda yani Yeni Yoran anlamına gelen bir köy kurmuşlardır.
