Ireland - The Emerald Isle
We took a somewhat impromptu trip to the Emerald Isle. Ireland had many great aspects that fit right into our interests. Beautiful landscapes, amazing pubs, great whiskey and such friendly people. I would return in a heartbeat. Hope you enjoy this cinematic video of some of the things we did there.

Kilkenny (Ireland) Vacation Travel Video Guide
Travel video about destination Kilkenny in Ireland.
Kilkenny is one of the most beautiful towns in the Republic Of Ireland and numerous historic buildings highlight the city’s colourful past. Since the end of the 12th century, Kilkenny Castle, located close to the Nore River, has been the town’s most prominent landmark. In 1391 the castle was acquired by the Butler’s, an aristocratic family that influenced Kilkenny right up until the 20th century. The city was founded by Saint Canice who in the 6th century had a monastery built close to the River Nore and at the time of the Anglo Norman invasion of Ireland in 1169 four church communities existed here. Located in Parliament Street, Rothe House dates back to 1594 and is another of the city’s popular historic sights. Renovated in 1966, the building complex contains three houses that are grouped around two tranquil inner courtyards. Kilkenny has retained its unique historic atmosphere right up to the present day and can thus justifiably be referred to as ‘The jewel of the Irish Middle Ages’.

Family Travel with Colleen Kelly - Ireland
Colleen Kelly will guide us from coast to coast across the Emerald Isle, the home of her ancestors. She meets up with several of her relatives and friends throughout the country starting with the hustle and bustle of Dublin. We begin on Grafton Street for some shopping and lunch with an American mom who is now living full time in Ireland. Colleen teaches us about the Gaelic sport of hurling, a combination of lacrosse and field hockey. She learns from her cousin who is a well-known hurler from Tipperary, Ireland. Now that's family travel!
Like any girl, Colleen has always dreamed of living in a castle. She takes us with her to fulfill her dream! At the castle, she joins her cousins from Galway to try their hand at falconry and even go on a fairy hunt on the castle grounds. The trip to Ireland continues in Westport, County Mayo where the majority of her relatives still live. They take her on an extensive tour of the Westport area where they climb to the top of Rockfleet Castle and bike on the Great Western Greenway trail. The fun continues with zip lining and closes with a musical performance while gathered in a family pub...only in Ireland!

Flying over Ireland, the Emerald Isle
Éire (Ireland) from the sky. The modern Irish Éire evolved from the Old Irish word Ériu, which was the name of a Gaelic goddess. Ériu is generally believed to have been the matron goddess of Ireland, a goddess of sovereignty. Emerald Isle is the poetic name for Ireland due to its green countryside. In some part of the video you can see a rainbow far on the horizon. Down there there's a pot of gold were a Leprechaun lives.
DOE CASTLE TOUR 15th Century | Donegal Ireland
The castle sits on a small peninsula, surrounded on three sides by water, with a moat cut into the rock of the landward side. Doe Castle was most likely built in the 15th century by the O'Donnell family, but by the 1440s it had come into the hands of the gallowglass MacSweeney family. The castle remained in the hands of the MacSweeney family for almost two hundred years until it fell into the hands of English settlers in the aftermath of the Plantation of Ulster in the early seventeenth century.
In 1932 the castle came into the hands of the Land Commission, and it 1934 was declared a national monument and was acquired by the Office of Public Works. The Towerhouse of the castle underwent a major restoration in the 1990s.
