6 Jagger Road, Encounter Bay
Rosetta Head Retreat - a special place in history
Rosetta Head Retreat is tied to the history of Victor Harbor by more than its name and the bluestone foundations which bind it to this special location.
Sitting proudly above Encounter Bay on 2,522 m2 of gardens, it has seen whaling vessels give way to pleasure craft and bare hills give way to homes but in keeping with its origins is surrounded on two sides by a State Park giving access to The Bluff and Petrel Cove and still enjoys those extensive views.
The original residence was built by the Jagger family In about 1901 in white rendered bluestone and now comprises 10 generously proportioned main rooms. Features are many, but chief among them is the light filled Great Room with six glorious east facing sash windows capturing amazing sunrises and views of Wright and Granite Islands and beyond to Port Elliot. There is no better view than to watch the powerful sets of waves passing between Wright Island and The Bluff.
High ceilings, elaborate cornicing and ceiling roses, high skirting boards and an amazing variety of window shapes and design, all go to capture the majesty and intrigue of this amazing home.
The kitchen is a gourmet's delight with expansive Caesarstone benchtops, Italian appliances and magnificent cabinetry providing masses of storage space. The fully renovated kitchen has been designed with a feature pressed metal wall and Blackbutt timber floor, facing the Great Room and ensuring magical views of the ocean.
Off the kitchen is a warm and inviting sitting room - The Library with fire place and built in bookcase, leadlight windows and French doors through to the entry foyer.
Pass through the Great Room and kitchen via a beautiful glass arched doorway with brass hinges to an intimate sitting room or den, which in turn connects to a breezeway joining what was an original one room cottage to the rest of the home. This area is the inspirational space used by the current owners as their art studio which also enjoys amazing views through semi circular windows to the ocean.
To the right of the front verandah (opposite the Great Room) is another doorway/entry leading to the accommodation wing. Bedrooms peel out from the large hallway with magnificent chandelier - forming what is a wonderful space to showcase an art collection. There are five bedrooms and three bathrooms in all - one a beautiful master suite with its own gorgeous sitting room and fireplace, bedroom with large picture windows where you can lie in bed and watch the horse drawn tram cross to Granite Island and designer marble en suite bathroom which adds yet another level of sophistication to the home.
Another of the bedrooms faces south and has glorious rural views of the State Park through leadlight windows and access to the second bathroom, making this the ideal guest suite.
The home is set in beautiful French inspired gardens - the Parterre consisting of symmetrical patterns connected by pathways and the Tapis Vert an unbroken expanse of lawn and surrounding pebble pathway used as a major element of the garden design, with beautiful garden pond and fountain.
On the western side of the home is the Allee - a landscaped walkway connecting front to back, flanked by shrubs and trees being both a promenade and an extension of the views.
On the eastern side is the gravel driveway providing access to the four car garage and open studio.
For al fresco living, there is the gorgeous slate paved atrium - an extension of the Great Room (with those glorious ocean and island views) connecting to the terrace, beautifully paved with wide slate steps connecting to the garden.
There is a herb kitchen garden and orchard and so much more.
The pride of place in Encounter Bay nestled between the sheltered waters of Encounter Bay in one direction and the raw beauty of the rugged coastline facing Petrel Cove and the Waitpinga Cliffs in the other.
Above all, Rosetta Head Retreat offers an enviable lifestyle - for permanent residents or to enjoy on holiday. Boaties will love the address being so close to the Encounter Bay ramp. Foodies and coffee lovers will be rewarded with a short walk to Eat at Whalers restaurant. Nature lovers will adore the birdlife and the spectacular walking trails which begin here - to Goolwa heading east, and off to Cape Jervis west along the Heysen trail.
Rosetta Head Retreat - a piece of history and a great place to enjoy life to the fullest now!
4WD Balladonia Track - Esperance to the Nullarbor Plain
Series 2 - Australia The Giant Loop
...
An additional episode using footage filmed between Esperance and the Eyre Highway in the Nullarbor Plain. This video gives some idea of our experience on the Balladonia Track. Filming was tough over such rough terrain and in the difficult situation we found ourselves in. During the day of travelling the 171km track we only saw one other vehicle.
After breaking down and managing to find the electrical fault and fix it with a bodge, we find ourselves driving through our first bush fire.
How to survive in the outback if your car breaks down...
...
Filmed on DJI Spark, GoPro Hero3+, iPhone 5s, iPhone 8s. Produced and edited in Final Cut Pro.

AMAZING Solar Eclipse INDIA,CHINA,JAPAN 2009
The total solar eclipse on the 22nd of July 2009 will be the longest of the 21st century. Lasting over six and a half minutes at the maximum duration (in the same Saros as the long 1991 eclipse). Starting in India along the western shore near Surat the path of the shadow heads towards Butan touching the southern tip of Nepal and the northern edge of Bangladesh. The eclipse passes over the Chinese cities of Chengdu, Suining, Chonging, Wuhan, Xiaogan, Hangzhou, and Shanghai by which time the duration of the eclipse is over five minutes of totality. Leaving Shanghai the path continues into the ocean encountering islands such as Toshima and Akusaki south of Japan and eventually the Marshall islands.
The maximum eclipse duration of 6 minutes and 43 seconds occurs far off the coast in the Pacific Ocean.
Your NDIS questions answered: Minister Paul Fletcher MP & Every Australian Counts
We took your NDIS questions to Minister for Families and Social Services Paul Fletcher MP a couple of days after the 2019/20 Federal Budget was announced.
You asked him:
What are you going to do to make the system more responsive and quicker?
How can you make the system more flexible and more person friendly?
How will you ensure that there is adequate understanding of complex needs when assessing NDIS applications? What’s being done to provide LAC’s and planners with more training?
What can you do to make sure there is more consistency and fairness in the system?
When will the NDIS adequately fund transport so participants can actually use their funded community access?
Why are second and subsequent plans are being cut? What are you going to do to make sure the NDIS is fair?
What are you going to do to make sure unpaid carers get the support they need so they can keep providing care?
What do you plan to do about creating more housing for people with disability?
What are you going to do to make sure the people who aren’t eligible for the NDIS get the support they need?
Why is it that advocacy is so poorly supported and what will you do to address it?
Why isn’t it possible to invest the NDIS underspend back into the scheme to get it working the way we all want it to?
