4 UPSCALE LIVING AT ENDVIEW PLANTATION, with Transcript, by Jack Gergely, NNCC, 9/24/19 1476
UPSCALE LIVING AT ENDVIEW PLANTATION
Enjoy luxurious living in an upscale community located on the remains of the historic Endview Plantation.
This luxurious community, located in upper Newport News is very near the borders of Williamsburg and York and James City Counties. Endview itself is serenely nestled between a 6 lane Interstate Highway and an EPA Superfund Site.
If you are in the military or a retiree, you and your children may fish in the ponds on the Superfund Site. But, all fish caught must be released because of possible contamination. Decontamination will be completed around 2045.
The surface water at the Superfund Site is considered to be of only a medium risk to humans. The groundwater though is high risk, but it is monitored every 5 years. It is considered doubtful that it drains into Endview.
At Endview, you can feel proud that you are doing your part for the better good of the City of Newport News. You can revel in the satisfaction that you are paying your fair share for the privilege of living in historic Endview, where Revolutionary and Civil War soldiers tread before you.
Your property tax rate will be a very generous $1.22 per hundred dollars of your property value. This tax base from your upscale property is deeply appreciated by the City Government for use to vitalize the less affluent parts of the City.
While you are paying your fair share, your neighbors in York County, directly to your east pay a paltry 80 cents, while James City County pays 84 cents. You will be happy knowing that you are also paying a much fairer share than your nearby Williamsburg neighbors. They greedily only pay 60 cents per hundred. Less than half of your Newport News real estate tax.
In the Newport News School System, your children will enjoy the experience of participation in an inner-city school system, which is rated 74th of the 131 school systems in Virginia. Unlike Williamsburg whose system is rated 14th in the State, or York County whose schools are pretentiously rated 8th in the state and are in the top 500 in the nation.
Shopping will be a breeze! Just hop on to the Interstate that you constantly hear, and you’ll be in the upscale shopping mecca of Williamsburg. There you can meet and have a nice lunch with all your friends and co-workers who live in Williamsburg and the neighboring Counties.
Enjoy your life at luxurious, historic Endview, and feel proud that you are daily doing your fair share to increase the tax base of the City of Newport News.

A very cold weekend at Endview Plantation for the boy scouts. We provided great service to the public, even though the reenactment itself was sort of anti-climactic. Other than that we had a good time.
The 70 second bit was not intentional. That was all the footage I had taken that weekend because I had low memory. (I forgot to clear off the ski trip footage from it)
Endview Plantation's Civil War Kid's Camp
Participants (boys and girls ages 8-13) will “join the army” and learn about how Civil War soldiers lived, marched and fought. Experiences include camp life, drills, battles and basic soldier's equipment. SUMMARY
=======
The Virginia Peninsula is a peninsula in southeast Virginia, USA, bounded by the York River, James River, Hampton Roads and Chesapeake Bay. It is sometimes known as the Lower Peninsula to distinguish it from two other peninsulas to the north, the Middle Peninsula and the Northern Neck.
It is the site of historic Jamestown, founded in 1607 as the first English settlement in North America. Geographically located at the northwestern reaches, Charles City and New Kent counties are part of the Virginia Peninsula. In the 21st century, they are also considered part of the Richmond-Petersburg region. The rest of the Virginia Peninsula is all part of the Virginia Beach-Norfolk-Newport News, VA-NC MSA (Metropolitan Statistical Area) with a population of about 1.8 million. The Hampton Roads MSA is the common name for the metropolitan area that surrounds the body of water of the same name. It is the seventh-largest metropolitan area in the Southeast and the 32nd largest in the United States.
The land portion of Hampton Roads has been historically divided into two regions, the Virginia Peninsula or Peninsula on the north side, and South Hampton Roads on the south side. (Locally, South Hampton Roads is commonly called the Southside, but this is not to be confused with Southside Virginia, a separate region of the south central portion of Virginia located farther inland.) More recently, the boundaries of the Hampton Roads metropolitan area have expanded to include the two southernmost counties of the Middle Peninsula, across the York River from the Virginia Peninsula.
