Rochford - 1 Eve Street, Erskineville
More information:
You only live once. Live it in style
You might never have heard of Erskineville – and that’s certainly not an accident. Locals have long been eager to keep their little jewel of a suburb a secret.
Rochford is located in this tightly held pocket of Sydney’s inner-city, which has undergone a dramatic transformation in recent years. Erskineville has grown from its working-class roots to become one of the most charming and desirable areas in the city.
Perhaps less well known than the larger and busier neighbouring suburb of Newtown, Erskineville has just as much to offer in terms of amenity and atmosphere, but with an added and slightly unexpected village vibe.
The home of your dreams
As wonderful as its surrounds may be, the best thing about Rochford is the building itself.
Designed with ease and modernity in mind, every detail of this beautiful development has been carefully thought out.
From the warm timber accents, to the bright and airy living spaces, each apartment is just the right balance of homely and chic.
Whether soaking up some morning sunshine on your private sun drenched balcony or enjoying a quiet moment in the landscaped communal garden areas, you’ll always find a place to relax at Rochford.
At the centre of it all
One of the best aspects about Erskineville is its unbeatable location. It has a village atmosphere and it’s located centrally to many of Sydney’s offerings.
Wander up to King Street, Newtown for it’s cafés, restaurants and cinema or catch a show at The Enmore Theatre. Head to the lush green Sydney Park for a picnic or Marrickville Metro for groceries.
Erskineville’s proximity to the Sydney CBD means commuting to work in the city is a breeze. With a well-serviced local train line, as well as numerous buses on offer, it means getting around is hassle free. The suburb is also well placed for accessing Sydney University as well as the main campuses of several other major universities.
Better Man - Theatre Trailer

Better Man
A professional tennis player.
A professional drug dealer.
A childhood friendship tested.
And a proud Greek family shattered.
JIMMY has it all: the fastest car on the road, his choice of beautiful women and a thriving drug dealing business in inner city Marrickville. He is handsome, charismatic and stylish...a 'role model' to many young men. His God fearing Greek parents are proud as can be as they are under the impression their son is running a legitimate Book Shop.
Jimmy is rocked, however, by the return of his childhood best friend and fellow teenage tennis prodigy RICKY. Ricky, a 'champion' tennis player has spent the last 7 years in America playing with the best, and has flown back to Australia to make his professional debut at the Australian Open.
As the two men try to rekindle a once unbreakable friendship, Jimmy tries to illustrate that he is every bit as successful as Ricky and expands his drug dealing business in an attempt to become 'champion' of his trade. However, his ambitious actions ignite a territorial war with rival drug dealers. While in self-improvement mode, Jimmy does the unthinkable and dates GEMMA, a bohemian actress, his total opposite.

Save Enmore School Rally - John Kaye Greens MLC
NSW Greens MLC John Kaye addressing a public meeting on the 8th May, 2009 outside the former Enmore School , Metropolitan Road, Enmore NSW. This school site has been put up for sale by the NSW Education Department despite strong community objection .There are many urgent community uses for this building including preschool, TAFE annexe, Distance Education Unit and community meeting rooms. The site has been rezoned to allow sale for residental use by the NSW Government despite Marrickville Council's refusal to rezone it previously. It is owned by the community and should be kept for the local community - this sale is against the public interest and part of the ongoing sell-off of public assets by the NSW Labor Government.
Save Our School and the Petersham Newtown Greens are working to try to stop the sale.

Enmore was named after Enmore House, built in 1835 by Captain Sylvester Browne, a master mariner with the British East India Company. Browne named his house after the Guyana estate of a business associate, the head of James Cavan & Co, which in turn took its name from Enmore in Somerset, England. Browne's son wrote several Australian classics, including Robbery Under Arms, under the name of Rolf Boldrewood.
In 1836, there was a report of snowfall in the suburb. Weather observer T.A Browne stated, the years 1836, 1837 and 1838 were years of drought, and in one of these years [1836] a remarkable thing happened. There was a fall of snow; we made snowballs at Enmore and enjoyed the usual schoolboy amusements therewith.[4]
Enmore House was the home of the Josephson family from 1842 to 1883, when it was demolished. After Josephson's death, his son Joshua Frey Josephson lived there until 1883. Joshua Frey Josephson had four sons and nine daughters from three marriages. One son, Joshua Percy Josephson, was Mayor of Marrickville in 1901. Five streets are named after five of the daughters: Clara, Laura, Marian, Pearl and Sarah.[5]
The house at 75 London Street is listed on the Register of the National Estate. It was built circa 1900 and stands out as a notable example of the Federation Queen Anne style, with elaborate Art Nouveau elements.[6]
Enmore is home to Sydney's oldest running live theatre. Built in 1908, the Enmore Theatre is a heritage listed building that plays host to many international bands including; KISS, Nas, Pulp, Massive Attack, Morrissey, Grizzly Bear, Brandy, The Rolling Stones, Oasis, Paramore, Coldplay, Ween, The Offspring, Arctic Monkeys, The White Stripes, Gillian Welch, Noel Gallagher, Kraftwerk, Marilyn Manson, The Tea Party and Nightwish. Up until the 1980s, the theatre also served as a revival cinema screening classic and contemporary films.
tanmore was named by a prosperous saddler, John Jones, who purchased land in 1835 where Newington College now stands and called it the Stanmore Estate. Jones named it after his birthplace of Stanmore, now a north west suburb of London. Land in the present Stanmore area was first allocated to colonial officers by Governor Phillip between 1793 and 1810. Thomas Rowley owned Kingston Farm which occupied the eastern half of Stanmore and much of Newtown, and a portion of George Johnston's Annandale Farm estate covered the area south of Parramatta Road containing Annandale House built in 1799 on the hill between Macaulay and Albany Roads. It was from here where Johnston marched with his troops to Castle Hill on 5 March 1804 to quell the convict revolt and where he rode on 26 January 1808 to arrest Governor Bligh during the Rum Rebellion.[2] The first Norfolk pines on the Australian mainland were planted along the line of Percival Road, leading to Parramatta Road by Lt Colonel George Johnston.
