Enoshima Island, Fujisawa, Japan tour :)
It is a wonderful island where you can spend your whole day strolling and exploring the entire place. A lot of shops, food stalls, restaurants and spas around the area. You can learn some Japanese cultures, beliefs and practices here through the shrines along the way. However, you have to walk tons of steps uphill, downhill and several stairs but it's worth it once you've reached the top as you'll be able to see the breathtaking ocean view. There's this one spot also where you can see the Mt. Fuji, if you're lucky enough and it's not cloudy on the day of your visit. My most favorite part is the love bell and love locks on top of a hill, overlooking a cliff. It's a romantic place for couples specially during the time we went which was autumn season and you can really feel the breeze of the cold air with some warmth of the sun's rays on your skin. You can festive with mouthwatering fresh catch seafoods around the island also, may it be for lunch, dinner or even snacks and pair it with some good coffee. It's really relaxing to sip a cuppa after a long way and numb feet and while just staring at the infinite blue ocean. This experience was indeed fun and memorable.

Nestled at the entrance to historic Enoshima Island is Enoshima Island Spa. An hour from Tokyo but truly a world away. The only place in Japan where views of Mount Fuji can be seen across the ocean from an island while soaking in heated pools or natural hot spring water.

Fantastic Places in Cool Japan :
Enoshima is a land-bound island located in Fujisawa City, Kanagawa Prefecture. The nearest station is Katase-Enoshima Station on the Odakyu Line. Enoden runs along the coast, and the retro townscape attracts visitors.
There are various scenic spots on the natural rich island. The deep blue sea under the eyes and the cliffs with wild taste make you feel as if you are in a foreign country.

Japanese try hard to enjoy beach life
SHOTLIST
Enoshima beach, Fujisawa City, Japan - Aug 2, 2008
1. Zoom out pan right to left of people at Enoshima Station.
2. Wide of the crowded beach at Enoshima.
3. Mid shot of Enoshima Eastside Beach sign
4. Mid shot of crowded beach
5. Shot of young people laying on the beach
6. SOUNDBITE (Japanese) - Gen Ito, first time beach visitor
If you want to go to a beach in Kanagawa then Enoshima is very famous and so many people gather here.
7. Mid shot of marine debris
8. Shot of trash left on the beach
9. Set up shot of volunteer cleaning up the beach.
10. Set up shot of volunteer cleaning up the beach.
11. SOUNDBITE (Japanese) - Masashi Kimura, volunteer beach cleaner
Many Japanese only come to the beach in the summer they leave a lot of trash and just return to the city just like that. So the locals and even the fishermen are not happy that the sea is dirty and the beaches are crowded. Then there's the people who get injured. In general there's a problem with the lack of manners.
12. Shot of surfers in very calm waters.
13. SOUNDBITE (Japanese) - Masashi Kimura, volunteer beach cleaner
Well here you can't really compare it with overseas. It's not good at all but still I have fun working here while people have fun trying to surf. I think it's great.
14. Mid shot of people relaxing in the water.
15. Friends playing with the sand.
16. Shot of camera crew on the beach.
17. Shot of people at the beach.
18. Mid shot of sign indicating it costs JPY 2,000 to rent an umbrella.
19. Set up shot of a worker from the umbrella rental booth.
20. SOUNDBITE (Japanese) - Motohide Kagawa, umbrella rental shop worker.
Most stalls and facilities have been run by the same people for a long time. Some of the places are rented, but the owners never sell their place here. The way of thinking here is very old.
21. Shot of old facilities.
22. Shot of a recently opened bar on the beach
23. SOUNDBITE (Japanese) - Motohide Kagawa, umbrella rental shop worker.
You see some of the places look different and a bit more hip. Those have been rented out to some people who came from Tokyo and so on. They try to change things a little but old thinking prevails and therefore their impact is small.
24. Various people at the beach.
25. Mid shot of man casually sunbathing.
26. Wide shot of people in the water
27. Mid shot of couple coming out of the water
28. Wide shot of people riding a banana boat.
29. SOUNDBITE (Japanese) - Miki Yamagishi
Just yesterday we thought about coming here (for the first time) and I had more fun than I had expected. We even got on a banana boat.
30. Set up shot of manager at his bar.
31. SOUNDBITE (Japanese) - Takatoshi Fukuda, shop manager
There is a stack of problems to deal with here. Problems with locals, with trash, with where people park, drunk-driving, problems with noise. With all these problems it is impossible to keep bars open until night time. Then on top of this there's the economic crisis for example and other problems. Basically unless there is agreement for example between the locals, the police, tourism operators and then people like us who run the bars, and finally the visitors who come here. Basically the current situation here is that we're not at a level yet where an agreement can be reached.
32. Shot of people playing with small fireworks on the beach at night time.
33. SOUNDBITE (French) - Julian Chprengledski, tourist
It was strange because we came around one o'clock and there were a lot of people here and around five o'clock everyone went home. I don't know why but maybe because all the shops closed and maybe people live far away but the atmosphere is not really like summer time.
34. Shot of guy running with small fireworks as if it were an Olympic torch.

ENOSHIMA ISLAND JAPAN
ENOSHIMA ISLAND JAPAN
Enoshima is a small tidal island, about 4 km in circumference, at the mouth of the Katase River, which flows into Sagami Bay in Japan. Part of the city of Fujisawa, it is linked to the the mainland by a 600 meter-long bridge and during low tide you can walk to the island on the exposed sandbars. Adjacent to the closest beach to Tokyo and Yokohama, the island and the nearby coast are the hub of a popular resort area. A major attraction on the island is the botanical garden, which was developed by a British merchant in 1880 and attracts over half a million visitors a year.
