GEF SGP Environmental Research Institute Charlotteville (ERIC) Forest Check
The Main Ridge Forest Reserve, Tobago is the oldest forest reserve in the Western Hemisphere and is of significant conservation importance. As part of their GEF SGP UNDP funded project, the Environmental Research Institute Charlotteville (ERIC) launched Forest Check in August 2017. Forest Check is an innovative, globally unique initiative that offers tourists the opportunity to work with local tour guides and make a direct and tangible contributions to improving conservation and co-management of the Main Ridge Forest Reserve.

Green turtle on a night dive Charlotteville, Tobago, Caribbean
A green turtle that joined us on a night dive at the Environmental Research Institute Charlotteville, Tobago, Caribbean. So named due to the colour of their flesh as a result of feeding primarily on algae and seagrass, the green turtle Chelonia mydas is listed as Endangered on the IUCN Red List and uses a number of local beaches to nest.
Charlotteville Bioblitz 2015
An account of the Charlotteville Bioblitz 2015 by Mike G. Rutherford. This was the fourth annual T&T Bioblitz and the first Bioblitz ever conducted in Tobago The event was organised by Mike G. Rutherford, curator of the University of the West Indies Zoology Museum, along with members of the Department of Life Sciences, UWI, St. Augustine and the Trinidad & Tobago Field Naturalists' Club. The Environmental Research Institute Charlotteville (ERIC) acted as the basecamp. 1044 species were found in the sea and on land.

ERIC Tobago: King's Bay Reef Check coral reef monitoring
A short video from the Environmental Research Institute Charlotteville of one of our Reef Check monitoring sites. As part of our long-term coral reef monitoring programme in northeast Tobago the site was selected as one of the popular Tobago dive sites and showcases some highlights of diving in Tobago, with sponges, soft corals and healthy fish assemblages that characterise diving in the Caribbean.

Forest Check Tobago
Forest Check Tobago is a citizen science programme launched under the Small Grants Programme of the United Nations Development Programme in the Main Ridge Forest Reserve, Tobago. It is a unique Caribbean ecotourism venture, giving participants the opportunity to work with Tobago's leading tour guides to collect key data on indicator species in the forest and contribute to environmental monitoring in the face of climate change.

St Giles is a well known Tobago dive site, highlighting the importance of our work in the development of sustainable tourism for diving in Tobago and diving in the Caribbean.
