Kuşadası is a resort town on Turkey's Aegean coast, and the center of the seaside district of the same name within Aydın Province. Kuşadası is 95 km (59 mi) south of İzmir, and 71 km (44 mi) from Aydın. The municipality's primary industry is tourism.
The city walls – There were once three gates; one remains.
Kaleiçi Mosque – Built in 1618 by Grand Vizier Öküz Kara Mehmed Pasha.
The Öküz Mehmed Pasha Caravanserai is near the docks. It was built in 1618 as a strong-room for the goods of seamen.
Güvercin Adası (Pigeon Island in English) – The peninsula/island at the end of the bay, which has a castle and swimming beaches, including a private beach and cafe with a view back across the bay to the harbour of Kuşadası. Public beaches are located at the back of the peninsula, towards the open sea.
Kirazli – Traditional Turkish village 12 kilometres (7.5 mi) from Kuşadası.
Yılancı Burnu – A second peninsula beyond Güvercin Ada. Possibly the location of the original settlement of Neopolis. Some walls are visible. There are beaches and beach clubs here.
Several aqua-parks with wave-pools and white-water slides are located near the town.
Ladies Beach – Very close to the town center, one of the primary tourist attractions.
Kadıkalesi – Venetian/Byzantine castle, 10 kilometres (6.2 mi) along the Kuşadası-Davutlar road.[24]
Panionium – 25 km (16 mi) south of Kuşadası, situated along the Davutlar-Güzelçamlı road. Once the central meeting place of the Ionian League. The ruins are in poor condition and their authenticity is disputed.
Dilek Peninsula-Büyük Menderes Delta National Park – About 30 kilometres (19 mi) south of the city centre, the national park is adjacent to the town of Güzelçamlı. It has several coves, beaches, canyons, and a sink cave. It is one of the most diverse and protected national parks in Turkey.

Although we were only in Kusadasi Turkey for a short time, we really got the chance to experience the best parts of the city. Ephesus was by far one of the most impressive sites we visited in all of Greece and Turkey combined and is definitely worth seeing if you have the chance! We visited Kusadasi and Ephesus, Turkey, while cruising on the Mariner of the Seas. It was absolutely amazing! While still not quite as impressive as Pompeii, (I can't imagine that anything is), visiting the ruins of Ephesus gives you a great insight into what life was like 2,000 years ago.

Ephesus is considered to be the most important Archaeological Site in Turkey. Founded over 3,000 years ago, Ephesus has a long history of invasions and disasters it has survived but what finally put an end to this once great city of the Ancient World is shallow water when the river and port silted up. Now the nearest port is over 6 miles away.
Ephesus was also home to one of the 7 Wonders of the Ancient World, the temple of Dianna, said to rival the Hanging Gardens of Babylon and the Great Pyramids in Egypt.
Today Ephesus is a popular cruise port destination for major cruise lines with the greatest attractions being the ruins of Ephesus and the Virgin Mary's home purported to be where the Virgin Mary spent the remainder of her years. If you're going to Mary's House in hopes of seeing Jesus' old room you may be disappointed but still the stone cottage is well worth a visit. As part of the tour you are given a souvenir vessel to fill with water from the springs that still run outside the Ancient cottage.
The port of Kusadasi where the cruise ships stop is a modern and lively seaside resort with numerous restaurants, shops and attractions along the waterfront. Having never been to Turkey, we didn't know what to expect but we came away very impressed with everything we saw. Kusadasi is very clean, friendly and we only wished we had more time to enjoy the city.

Port of Call Kusadasi Turkey And Ephesus
This is our Port of Call visit to Kusadasi, Turkey and our visit to the ancient city of Ephesus.
Kusadasi Turkey From Port to Ephesus
We get off The Celebrity Silhouette, Cruise ship in Turkey and we find a tour guide and cabbie and he shows us the surrounding areas. When you are crushing around the world and have to hail a cab it helps to haggle and shop around for a good price. Many cab drivers are really pushy in the area of the port exit so it helps to have a little patience, and don't be afraid to walk away. The cab driver we got was parked away from all of the other cab drivers. He was much nicer and spoke better English than the others and the best part he took us to Ephesus and back for the cheapest price. He became our tour guide for the day taking us to many other important historical sites around the area. The area near the port has a lot of tourist type stores. Almost every listed price in the markets is available for negotiation. They have lots of knock off items, and plenty of turkish delight, and hand woven Turkish rugs. The weather here is very similar to southern California, semi arid temperate climate. They grow lots of olives, grapes and citrus trees
Traveling from Kusadasi to Ancient Ephesus - The History of Turkey from our Guide
We departed from Athens by sea and met our guide in Turkey where we traveled from Kusadasi to Ancient Ephesus. In this video, our guide tells us some history of Turkey before we arrive for our tour of Ephesus, the city where Paul the Apostle preached in the synagogue. But the Apostle Paul was not able to preach in the theater due to a silversmith named Demetrius, who made silver shrines of Artemis, a Greek goddess, and caused his fellow tradesmen to riot and shout, “Great is Artemis of the Ephesians!”, causing an uproar in the city and disciples and friends of the Apostle Paul begged him not to venture into the theater. (See the Book of Acts 19 in the Bible.)

Kuşadası is a resort town on Turkey's Aegean coast, and the center of the seaside district of the same name within Aydın Province. Kuşadası is 95 km (59 mi) south of İzmir, and 71 km (44 mi) from Aydın. The municipality's primary industry is tourism.
The city is situated along a gulf of the same name in the Aegean, with the island of Güvercin Ada connected to the mainland by a narrow passage on one end, and the mountain of Kese Dağı behind.
It is located 95 km (59 mi) south of İzmir, the area's metropolitan centre, and 71 km (44 mi) from the provincial seat of Aydın. Its neighbours are Selçuk from north, Germencik from north-east and Söke from east and south.
The area has been a centre of art and culture since some of the earliest recorded history, and has been settled by many civilizations since being founded by the Leleges people in 3000 BC. Later settlers include the Aeolians in the 11th century BC and Ionians in the 9th. Originally, seamen and traders built a number of settlements along the coastline, including Neopolis.
An outpost of Ephesus in ancient Ionia, known as Pygela (Πύγελα), the area between the Büyük Menderes (Maeander) and Gediz (Hermos) rivers, the original Neopolis, is thought to have been founded on the nearby point of Yılancı Burnu. Later settlements were probably built on the hillside of Pilavtepe, in the district called Andızkulesi today. Kuşadası was a minor port frequented by vessels trading along the Aegean coast. In antiquity it was overshadowed by Ephesus, until Ephesus' harbor silted up. From the 7th century BC onwards the coast was ruled by Lydians from their capital at Sardis, then from 546 BC the Persians, and from 334 BC, along with all of Anatolia, the coast was conquered by Alexander the Great. From that point on the coastal cities in Anatolia became a centre of Hellenistic culture.
Kuşadası caters to tourists arriving by land, or from the port for cruise ship passengers heading to Ephesus. In a controversial deal in 2003, the previously public-owned port was leased to a private company and renovated to attract luxury cruise liners. The Grand Princess docks here, along with other cruise ships.
The area features several well-known local beaches, including Ladies Beach, the beach at the centrum, the beaches between the Batıhan Hotel and the Nazilli Site, the beach at Güzelçamlı, and the Dilek Peninsula National Park beach, referred to by locals as simply Milli Park.[3]

There are ice-cream, carpet, leather, and software vendors, as well as bookshops selling books in English, German, Russian and other languages.
Relatively old houses near the seafront, some of them converted to bars and cafes, are the remnants of old Kuşadası, which has with time become a modern, European-like town in appearance. The hills behind have been settled with large hotels and blocks of holiday flats. The building boom in the late 1980s and onwards has continued well into the hinterlands of Kuşadası.
