Ephesus was by far one of the most impressive sites we visited in all of Greece and Turkey combined and is definitely worth seeing if you have the chance! EXPLORING the historic city of EPHESUS (EFES, ΕΦΕΣΟΣ), a complete tour (TURKEY)
SUBSCRIBE: - Let's go visit Ephesus (Greek: Ἔφεσος Ephesos; Turkish: Efes) which was an ancient Greek city[ on the coast of Ionia, three kilometres southwest of present-day Selçuk in İzmir Province, Turkey. It was built in the 10th century BC by Attic and Ionian Greek colonists. During the Classical Greek era it was one of the twelve cities of the Ionian League. The city flourished after it came under the control of the Roman Republic in 129 BC.
The city was famed for the nearby Temple of Artemis (completed around 550 BC), one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World.[6] Among many other monumental buildings are the Library of Celsus, and a theatre capable of holding 25,000 spectators.
The ruins of Ephesus are a favourite international and local tourist attraction, partly owing to their easy access from Adnan Menderes Airport or from the cruise ship port of Kuşadası, some 30 km to the South.

Kusadasi Turkey From Port to Ephesus
We get off The Celebrity Silhouette, Cruise ship in Turkey and we find a tour guide and cabbie and he shows us the surrounding areas. When you are crushing around the world and have to hail a cab it helps to haggle and shop around for a good price. Many cab drivers are really pushy in the area of the port exit so it helps to have a little patience, and don't be afraid to walk away. The cab driver we got was parked away from all of the other cab drivers. He was much nicer and spoke better English than the others and the best part he took us to Ephesus and back for the cheapest price. He became our tour guide for the day taking us to many other important historical sites around the area. The area near the port has a lot of tourist type stores. Almost every listed price in the markets is available for negotiation. They have lots of knock off items, and plenty of turkish delight, and hand woven Turkish rugs. The weather here is very similar to southern California, semi arid temperate climate. They grow lots of olives, grapes and citrus trees

Kuşadası
Kuşadası is a resort town on Turkey's Aegean coast and the center of the seaside district of the same name in Aydın Province. Kuşadası lies at a distance of 95 km (59 mi) to the south from the region's largest metropolitan center of İzmir, and 71 km (44 mi) from the provincial seat of Aydın situated inland. Its primary industry is tourism. The district neighbours on the northeast to Germencik district, on the southeast to Söke district, on the west to the Aegean Sea, and on the north to Selçuk district.
The city stands on a bay in the Aegean with the peninsula of Guvercin Ada sticking out into the sea at one end, and the mountain of Pilav Dağı behind.
It is 95 km (59 mi) south of İzmir, the region's largest metropolitan center. It is 71 km (44 mi) from the provincial seat of Aydın situated inland.
Kuşadası has a residential population of 64,359 rising to over half a million during the summer when the large resort fills with tourists (from Turkey itself, northern Europe and the Balkans), plus the hotel staff, bar staff, construction workers, and drivers who are needed to work in the restaurants servicing all these visitors. In addition to the visitors from overseas there is a substantial community of foreigners resident in the area.
Kuşadası caters to tourists, arriving by land, and as the port for cruise ship passengers heading to Ephesus. In a controversial deal in 2003 the previously public-owned port was leased to a private company and renovated to attract luxury cruise liners. The Grand Princess docks here, along with other cruise ships.
There are beaches including the Ladies Beach, the beach at the centrum, the beaches between the Batıhan Hotel and the Nazilli Site, Guzelcamli Town beach and the Dilek Peninsula National Park beach. There are vendors of ice-cream, carpets, leather, and software, and bookshops selling books in English, German, Russian and other languages.
Old houses near the seafront, some of them converted to bars and cafes, are the remnants of old Kuşadası, which has become a modern-European looking town. The hills behind are built up with big hotels and blocks of holiday flats. The building boom in the late 80s and onwards has been continued into the hinterland of Kuşadası.
Transport around the town is by dolmuş (minibus). There are bus and taxi services to the nearest airports, in İzmir and Bodrum. Day trips are available by boat from Kuşadası and Güzelçamlı.
The city is a port of call for cruise ships. The port is linked by a six-lane highway to İzmir's Adnan Menderes Airport
There are daily ferry services to the nearby Greek island of Samos.
Kuşadası's bus station acts as a transport hub. Buses connect to various parts of the country.
Wheelchair Accessible Ephesus Tour from Kusadasi Cruise Port

Hi! In this 4 minute video I will try to explain what you can expect from an Accessible Tour of Ephesus from Kusadasi Cruise Port
In the picture the arrows show the exact points where you will meet with your tour guide that would be only a Hundred yard distance from your Cruise Ship and also where you can find the accessible restrooms at the Port Premises and where you will meet with your accessible vehicle which is about 200 yards of walking distance from the cruise ship
And once you meet with your vehicle you will enter from it’s rear door where we have the electric lift and once you’re inside the vehicle your wheelchair will safely be fixed to the floor of the van with tie-downs for a safe and comfy ride which will be around 40 minutes.
Ephesus Ancient city has two entrances, we prefer the lower entrance for accessibility issues.
The admission fee to the site is around 12USD/person.
Admission will be free of charge for Visitors in wheelchairs and their caretakers in case the disability of the person is visible or with the presentment of an ID stating the disability.
Make sure to carry some sort of an ID that indicates the Physical disability it could be driver’s license or doctor’s report.
Right after we enter the site from it’s lower entrance there will be a Six hundred feet long path paved with cobblestone which causes a slightly bumpy ride for wheelchairs.
And at the end of this path there will be a Thirty feet long slope with a Twenty five degree angle steepness. This slope will lead you towards the Harbor Street.
The Harbor Street has a fairly flat surface paved with smooth marble.
There will be a Twenty feet long ramp with a fifteen degree angle which will lead us towards the theater.
Although we do not recommend this but if you have an electric wheelchair and determined enough you may even be able to make your way into the theater.
After the Harbor Street and the Theater, we will be heading towards the main highlights of the city, The Library.
There will be a Seven hundred feet long slightly challenging but still doable path through the Ancient Market Place towards the Library. The path is paved with Wooden Railroad Ties which are laid horizontally.
Because of the Horizontal positioning and half an inch wide space left between these logs the ride will be fairly bumpy for the wheelchairs.
There is an alternate path to this which is a 300 feet long path with half an inch size pebble stones with a 5 degree inclining angle.
And the final destination for the wheelchair accessible portion of the city will be the area where the Library is located.
There will be fairly uneven and steep surface paved with marble slabs.
There is a Twentyfive feet long ramp with an eighteen degree angle for accessing from the one part of the Library to where some other highlight attractions such as Gate of Hadrian and the Temple of Hadrian which are very picturesque.
And the return journey will be from the Marble Street which is fairly doable with a smoothly paved flat marble surface.
Another attraction of this tour is the Indoor Museum located 3 miles from Ephesus.
This attraction is %100 wheelchair accessible with a flat and smooth surface and wheelchair accessible restrooms available.
Another optional attraction is the Mother Mary’s House located 5 miles away from Ephesus, takes 20 minutes to drive.
The path towards the Chapel is paved with concrete blocks with space in between hence the uncomfortable ride for wheelchairs.
And the Chapel’s entrance door is 35 inches wide and a 3 inch step right after the first 5 foot entrance hallway to the chapel.
The only wheelchair accessible portion is the outdoor yard of the Chapel where the candles are lit.
And also the Holy Spring where people also make wishes and hang on the wishing wall.
There are no wheelchair accessible restrooms at Mother Mary’s House.
After the tour the ride back to Kusadasi will take another half an hour and you will be dropped off at the entrance gate to the Cruise Port which will be only 200 yards distance to the cruise ship. And this place is also considered as the downtown market where you can find the main bazaar and the shops.
