Cathedral of the Epiphany in Yelokhovo
Epiphany Cathedral in Yelokhovo 1991 Cathedral of the Moscow Patriarchate in 1938 - 91 - Patriarchal Cathedral. Never closed. In the name of the Epiphany in Moscow, the old cathedral was consecrated in the current Yelokhovo. Epiphany celebration called because during the Epiphany was a phenomenon of the Holy Trinity in three persons: the Voice of God the Father that speaketh from heaven: Behold my Beloved Son, hear him, Son of God - Jesus Christ, entered into the Jordan and the Holy Spirit in the form of a dove. The establishment of the celebration of Epiphany and the Epiphany was to the ancient Church, and to confront the heretics who denied the Trinity, the sacrament of confession and baptism. In the churches on the eve of the Epiphany, many were baptized catechumens, and for this purpose in the temples consecrated water. Hence comes the tradition of the Great Blessing of the Waters (Vodoosvyascheniya), committed to the Orthodox churches in the eve of Epiphany Eve. From around the XIII century vodoosvyaschenie performed twice - the second time after the liturgy in the feast of Epiphany. Usually this was done Blessing of the Waters ceremony, with a procession on the river, lake or source. This custom was first introduced in the Church of Jerusalem, where Jordan went on to make Blessing of the Waters in memory of the baptism of the Savior. Especially solemn celebration of the Epiphany and the Blessing of the Waters performed in Moscow in the XVII century, where the service was attended by the Patriarch and the Tsar. Jordan - in commemoration of the Baptism of the Lord in the Jordan River - arranged in the hole on the Moscow River near the Kremlin wall. From the Kremlin to her heading the procession, made a prayer, and after it in the hole plunged into the icy water and scooped it into buckets. Therefore, the Epiphany Church in ancient times were built near rivers or streams - Epiphany monastery near Neglinnaya Dorogomilovo Cathedral - on the Moscow River, or near the Bloch Yauza. Cathedral of the Epiphany in Yelokhovo is Bloch space, the old border Basman and German settlements. In the XIV - XVII centuries this small village located Elohim. Elohim, Elohim, Dahl's dictionary, means alder, and probably once there grew a dense alder forest. And yet, alder in the old days was called wet, flooding the place. In the 2nd half of the XV century was Yelokhovo suburban village near Moscow, where stood the church of the Vladimir Mother of God. In her arrival in 1468 was born the famous St. Basil's in Moscow fool. The church was dismantled long before the Revolution. There is a version that she was a little more modern Yelokhovsky Cathedral - in place of the neighboring church of Martyr Nikita on Old Basman, who was originally consecrated in the name of the Presentation of the Virgin of Vladimir. Old Basmannaya to-heaven, and led Yelokhovo and stretches followed by German settlement was the main street Basman court settlement, which settled the royal bakers, (from the Tartar, Basman a palace or a government-bread), or the old, less likely version, the master silversmith. And Epiphany Rifle Brigade in antiquity may have been an ordinary village church. Documented, he is known to 1687, and in 1712 -31 was rebuilt in stone, at the expense of his parishioner, Colonel Voronetsky and Princess Praskovia Ivanovna. Brick bestowed on him personally, Peter I. The construction of long stretches, and it was consecrated only in 1731.

My name is Zahi Shaked
In 2000 I became a registered liscenced tourist guide.
My dedication in life is to pass on the ancient history of the Holy Land.
Following upon many years of travel around the world, which was highlighted by a very exciting emotional and soul-searching meeting with the Dalai Lama, I realized that I had a mission. To pass on the the history of the Holy Land, its religions, and in particular, the birth and development of Christianity.
In order to fulfill this calling in the best way possible, I studied in depth, visited, and personally experienced each and every important site of the ancient Christians. I studied for and received my first bachelors degree in the ancient history of the Holy Land, and am presently completing my studies for my second degree.(Masters)
Parralel to my studies, and in order to earn a living, I was employed for many years in advertising. What I learned there was how to attract the publics attention, generate and, increase interest, and assimilate information. All this I use as tools to describe, explain and deepen the interest in the sites that we visit. From my experience, I have learned that in this way, the Holy Land becomes more than just history, and that the large stones that we see scattered about in dissaray, join together one by one until they become - a Byzantine Church. This also happens when I lead a group of Pilgrims in the Steps of Jesus. We climb to the peak of Mount Precipice, glide over the land to the Sea of Galilee, land on the water and see the miracle which enfolds before us. This is a many faceted experience. Not only history which you will remember and cherish, but an experience which I hope will be inplanted in your hearts and minds, and will accompany you all the days of your life.

STORYLINE
Thousands of young men are plunging into icy rivers and lakes across Bulgaria and Romania to retrieve crucifixes thrown by clergymen in an old ritual marking the Orthodox feast of Epiphany.
By tradition, a wooden cross is cast into the water and it is believed that the person who retrieves it will be freed from evil spirits.
In the Romanian Black Sea port of Constanta, some 3,000 Orthodox Christian believers turned out to watch priests hurl three crosses into the icy sea.
Dozens - some wearing wet suits - dived into the waters to retrieve the crosses.
The large crowd received bottles of blessed holy water after the contest.
The water is blessed during Epiphany and is said to help believers to cope with diseases and difficulties in life.

St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church Epiphany Theophany Celebration 2016
Usually held in the Harbor, this year we celebrated at the Ventura Dive & Sport. The recent storm runoff brought too many pollutants into the Harbor along with high amounts of bacteria.
About the beginning of our Lord's thirtieth year, John the Forerunner, who was some six months older than Our Saviour according to the flesh, and had lived in the wilderness since his childhood, received a command from God and came into the parts of the Jordan, preaching the baptism of repentance unto the remission of sins. Then our Saviour also came from Galilee to the Jordan, and sought and received baptism though He was the Master and John was but a servant. Whereupon, there came to pass those marvellous deeds, great and beyond nature: the Heavens were opened, the Spirit descended in the form of a dove upon Him that was being baptized and the voice was heard from the Heavens hearing witness that this was the beloved Son of God, now baptized as a man (Matt. 3:13-17; Mark 1:9-11; Luke 3:1-22). From these events the Divinity of the Lord Jesus Christ and the great mystery of the Trinity were demonstrated. It is also from this that the present feast is called Theophany, that is, the divine manifestation, God's appearance among men. On this venerable day the sacred mystery of Christian baptism was inaugurated; henceforth also began the saving preaching of the Kingdom of the Heavens.
Apolytikion of Holy Epiphany in the First Tone
Lord, when You were baptized in the Jordan, the veneration of the Trinity was revealed. For the voice of the Father gave witness to You, calling You Beloved, and the Spirit, in the guise of a dove, confirmed the certainty of His words. Glory to You, Christ our God, who appeared and enlightened the world.
Kontakion of Holy Epiphany in the Fourth Tone
You appeared to the world today, and Your light, O Lord, has left its mark upon us. With fuller understanding we sing to You: You came, You were made manifest, the unapproachable light.

Theophany- Stichera during Procession Jan 18, 2013 St. Elias Church
St. Elias Church, Brampton, ON Canada.
(Ukrainian Catholic--Eparchy of Toronto),
Today the nature of the waters is sanctified, and the Jordan is parted in two. It holds back the streams of its own waters, seeing the Master wash Himself.
On the Feast of Theophany (also known as Epiphany ) we celebrate the Baptism of our Lord, Christ Jesus. In the Gospels we read:
It was at this time that Jesus come from Nazareth in Galilee and was baptised in the Jordan by John. And at once, as he was coming up out of the water, he saw the heavens torn apart and the Spirit, like a dove, descending on him. And a voice came from heaven, You are my Son, the Beloved; my favour rests on you. Mark 1:9-11
This Feast - together with Pascha and Pentecost - make up the three great Feasts of the ancient Church. Through the Baptism of the Lord the Most Holy Trinity has been revealed to the world. God the Father spoke from Heaven about the Son. The Son was baptised by the Lord's holy Forerunner, John. And the Holy Spirit descended upon the Son in the form of a Dove.
The voice of the Lord upon the waters cries aloud saying: Come ye all, and receive the Spirit of Wisdom, the Spirit of understanding, the Spirit of the Fear of God, from Christ who is made manifest.
