Epping Ongar Railway, 1994. Last Train from Ongar (HQ vid)
The last day of Underground trains on the Epping - Ongar branch of the London Underground Central Line. Listen for the detonators on the track as the last ever Underground train leaves Ongar. This was filmed on an analogue video camera well before the days of HD, and then transferred to digital many years later. So the quality is as it is.

Epping Ongar Railway Western Steam Gala
Epping Ongar Railway Western Steam Gala 05/06/15
Locos featured
Large prairie tank 4141 (resident)
782O Dinmore Manor (Gloucester Warwickshire railway)
Pannier Tank 6430 (Llangollen Railway)
Auto Tank 1450 and Auto Trailer (Severn Valley Railway)
A glorious summer day greeted me upon arrival at North Weald for the first train of the day. A good days running was had with no major issues effecting the timetable as with EOR's last steam gala. All locomotives performed faultlessly and a credit must go to 1450 for a brilliant display on my journey from ongar to north weald the term pocket rocket springs to mind a surprisingly capable little tank engine.

PAW Patrol - Skye and Chase at the Epping-Ongar Railway (2018)
Well, today I was planning to visit the Epping-Ongar Railway and until this morning, I had absolutely no idea that Skye and Chase would be there! Best coincidence yet!
I only wish I could have gotten a hug, but just seeing them made me very happy. Especially when Chase was sad as some of the girls wanted only Skye in their pictures... Awww! Then he's being a bit of a silly pup later on, even participating in a dance with Skye on the platform! Heehee.
Epping Ongar Railway LT150 Celebrations
While the birds sing happily in the trees a GNR N2 class 0-6-2T runs light engine from North Weald to Ongar, then heads the first train of the day past Perrills Crossing, back to North Weald.
As N2 class 0-6-2T enters North Weald station it passes E class 0-4-4T Met No.1, built 1898 and 2-6-2T 'Small Prairie' tank LU150 at the head of a train consisting of an ex BR Mk1 brake third coach formally used on the Kings Cross suburban services, two Metropolitan Dreadnought coaches and the Metropolitan four wheel, 1st class carriage built 1892.
On board the Ex BR Mk1 brake third returning to to Ongar, the distinct beats of the two locos can be clearly heard. The recently restored platform at Blake Hall station is seen just before passing under Blake Hall Road bridge. The two locos make a fine sound as they continue their journey, sounding their whistles as they approach Perrills Crossing.
Back at Ongar, Met No.1 backs onto its train ready for the return to North Weald.
On departure from North Weald the GNR N2 briefly opens its cylinder cocks as it passes under the cast iron platform over-bridge that is undergoing restoration.
Met No.1 awaits its next duty at Ongar station.
Viewed from the signal box, Prairie tank LU150 arrives at Ongar.
Seen from the Blake Hall Road bridge and overlooking the station, the N2 heads for Ongar.
A little later, Met No.1 and Large Prairie tank 4141 (running as 6141) give a cheery whistle as they pass under the bridge.

End Of Tube Event @ Ongar station with 1980's-2014 Contrasts
Trains at Ongar station as seen between the early 1980's and 2014.
The 2014 footage was filmed as part of the Epping Ongar Railway's End Of Tube event commemorating it being 20 years since London Transport closed the railway line between Epping and Ongar.
2014 footage includes two trains - these being diesel locomotive Class 33 202 Dennis G Robinson with a rake of preserved ex-British Railways Mk1 and Mk2 passenger carriages, and the preserved ex-London Transport 1960 tube stock Craven train. This is painted in 1938 tube stock red and cream livery and comprises two driving motor (DM) cars from 1960 plus one original 1938 tube stock trailer car. As the Epping-Ongar route is no longer electrified the train is powered by some Schoma diesel engines which were at the far end of the train and therefore are not seen.
This film also shows the same train taking part in the April 1990 celebrations of it being 125 years since the Loughton - Ongar railway first opened.
Also seen in this film are some 1962 tube stock trains as filmed over several visits in the 1980's. This includes both silent super 8 film (with authentic sound taken from videotape filmed elsewhere) and 35mm still images.
Epping-Ongar Railway 'RE-OPENING WEEKEND' - 26/05/2012
The Epping Ongar Railway has now re-started operations after a long period which has seen the railway grow into Britain's newest steam attraction.
Friday 25th May saw the first steam-hauled services on the line between Ongar and North Weald for 55 years, although the motive power was very different. Instead of locomotives from the GER era, the railway has gained two Great Western Railway locos as well as a couple of Industrial saddle-tanks and a fleet of heritage diesels, DMUs and one of the former Lymington Branch EMUs.
For the railway's 're-opening weekend', the line's new flagship: GWR 4900-class 'Hall' 4-6-0 No.4953 Pitchford Hall was in action along with GWR 6400-class 0-6-0PT No.6430 (visiting from the Llangollen Railway). The 'Pannier' is currently on-loan until the overhaul of GWR 5101-class 'Large Prairie' 2-6-2T No.4141 is completed at Llangollen's workshops. Also in action were two of the line's large diesel locomotives: BR Class 31 'Goyle' A1A-A1A No.31438 and Class 37 'Growler' Co-Co No.D6729. On display in the yard were the two Class 03 0-6-0DE Shunters Nos.03119 and 03170 along with the latest addition to the fleet: former Colne Valley Railway-based 'Andrew Barclay' 0-4-0ST No.2199 Victory.
Two services were in operation. Pitchford Hall and the 'Pannier' top 'n' tailed workings between North Weald and Ongar whilst the Class 31 and Class 37 top 'n' tailed with the former Lymington EMU from North Weald towards Epping.
This footage is from Saturday 26th May 2012.
Cab ride DELTIC 55019 at Epping and Ongar 16th Sept 2016 EOR
The DELTIC 55019 was at the Epping and Ongar Railway (EOR) on Friday 16th Sept 2016 for a diesel weekend event. This massive engine is sure to be a major attraction but I went on the Friday whilst it was raining in the hope I could more easily get a cab ride, and I did. There were fewer people there.
So there are a few raindrops on the lens at times but the advantage was fewer people in the way of the shots, and choice of camera positions at the nearest windows in the coaches.
The cab ride was fantastic, and so was hearing that Napier Deltic Engine sound. It did sound strange as it struggled for traction (uphill I presume) on the wet rails. Once it got going it was a breeze and I could imagine it doing 100mph.
It is a fantastic locomotive, and this Type 55 and the DP1 prototype (especially) are my favourite diesels. The Cab was not as roomy as I was expecting, although still great.
The Driver for Royal Highland Fusilier was from the Deltic Preservation Society, the Pilot was a regular EOR driver and had track knowledge, and the lady was in the position of Secondman. Cost today for a cab ride was twice the normal cost but still a bargain I thought at £10. A ticket for the day was £18.
My camera defaulted to 4:3 format, hence it was filmed and then edited this way. Sorry for the occasional raindrop but this is a hazard when filming quickly and in the rain (it was drizzling all day). My tiny monitor means I cannot always notice. I decided to hand-hold as well for ease of movement around the cab, plus that meant I could have an umbrella rather than a tripod to carry.
There were many other diesels there but I did not film those, as my focus was on the Deltic today. Check out the Epping and Ongar Railway website for details of the weekend of Sept 16-18 2016.
