MASSIVE Erawan Museum: BANGKOK:
The Erawan Museum is a fascinating attraction on the outskirts of Bangkok in Samut Prakan Province. It is well known for its giant three-headed elephant art display. The museum was the creation of Thai businessman Khun Lek Viriyaphant, who also created the Sanctuary of Truth in Pattaya and the Ancient City Muang Boran, a large open air museum nearby south of Bangkok. Khun Lek built the museum to conserve a large number of priceless antiques, items of arts and religious objects that are part of Thailands heritage

We had a day to go sight seeing but wasn't up for traveling too far, so ancient City, otherwise known as Muang Boran is the place to go to. There are amazing architectures through out Thailand, temples and palaces, shrines and statues but if you only had a day then I'd recommend this massive outdoors museum. oh, we also stopped by The Erawan Museum with was near by.

The Erawan Museum Is a floating sculpture of a 3-headed elephant, created by the first and largest hand knock method in the world Considered as an important and sacred tourist attraction Not to be missed.
This Erawan Elephant Museum has been under construction for over 20 years. It has been officially opened to the general public since 2013. The elephant body, including the support building, is equivalent to the 14th building. The weight of the elephant body is 150. The ton and weight of the 100-ton elephant's head, the outer copper elephant's entire body sheet Tap to decorate hundreds of thousands of pieces of patterns together with delicacy. Within the main area is divided into three parts. Which has come to come from the scripture That divides the landscape Are the three most important parts: the world, the human world and the heaven, which are beautifully decorated, magnificently.

This is the giant 3 headed elephant shrine, known as the Erawan Museum Shrine near Chang Erawan BTS station in Samut Prakan Province, Thailand.
The elephant structure is made of bronze, weighs 250 tons, 29 meters high, 39 meters long and stands on a 15-meter high pedestal.
Admission fee to this shrine is 400thb per adult & 200thb per child.
HOW TO GET HERE
1. Take the BTS Skytrain to CHANG ERAWAN BTS STATION
2. Walk up north along Sukhumvit Rd and just follow the road until you see the museum.
It should be about 10-15 min walk from the BTS Station.

It was Friday and Ian suggested we go visit the Erawan Museum near Bang Na, and I had nothing else planned so it seemed like a good idea.

Erawan Museum is a museum in Bangkok on the east side of the river in the Samut Prakan Province. It is well known for its giant three-headed elephant art display. The three storeys inside the elephant contain antiquities and priceless collections of ancient religious objects belonging to Khun Lek Viriyapant who is the museum owner.
The museum houses a wide range of architectural symbols combined with fine arts and craftsmanship, structural layout and natural environment that integrate harmoniously, the Erawan Museum creates a kind of atmosphere that induces visitors to perceive and appreciate the continuity of history, cultures, religions, arts and customs of faith from past. The museum is built from the inspiration of Khun Lek Viriyaphant, creator of the Ancient Siam and Sanctuary of Truth Pattaya City, Chonburi to provide a storage place for artifacts and heritage conservation areas and to continue to preserve traced artwork.
Aside from the new and somewhat confusing policy of video and photo-taking, I found the place to be very well cared for and the grounds were kept in pristine condition. Some might argue the 400 baht entry fee as being on the expensive side, but the care and attention to the grounds seem to suggest that the price of admission is to maintain the grounds and not line the pockets of the Thai elite.

In the south-side of Bangkok stands an enormous 44 metre tall, 250 ton, three-headed elephant surrounded by a beautiful tropical flower garden filled with sculptures from Thai legend. Within the elephant itself is a museum which charts the religious influence that has shaped Thai culture. You can easily spend the best part of a day lost in the serene tranquillity of the place.

With the new Skytrain Extention that just opened to Samut Prakan, it is now easier than ever to get to the Ancient City in Bangkok, Thailand.
DIRECTIONS:
1. Take the BTS Skytrain to KHEHA station,
2. Go down EXIT 1 or 3
3. Wave down one of the cars you see in the video.
4. Keep an eye out for MIAMI BAYSIDE
5. PRESS the BUZZER a little shortly after you pass the FOOTBRIDGE as shown in the video.
6: You will arrive at the front entrance of the Ancient City, just walk straight through to the ticket office.

Is well known for its giant three-headed elephant art display. The three storey's inside the elephant contains antiquities and priceless collections of ancient religious objects belonging to Khun Lek Viriyapant who was the museum owner until his death on November 17th 2000 . This same person was instrumental in constructing the Ancient City - Murang Boran ( see article in this web site )
The Elephant of the Universe. This three-headed elephant (Airavata) was born of Khun Lek Viriyapant's ideas and imagination.Over ten years of perseverance, common clay and dust were finally formed into the massive 43-metre tall sculpture which today stands on a long stretch of Sukhumvit road. The elephant's massive body, made of pure bronze, is set on the top of a huge round base painted in pastel pink. Inside the breathtaking museum hall invaluable reminders of Thailand's ancient heritage are kept, while its captivating interior is lavishly adorned with elegant decorative pieces of contemporary art.
It was inspired by his wish to preserve his collection of antiques as a contribution to Thai cultural heritage. Many of these were priceless objects of art; they were also held as sacred objects for people of ancient cultures. According to ancient traditions, they were believed to bring blessing and prosperity to the land and its people, and therefore must not be lost to outsiders. It had been Mr. Viriyapant's concern to find a way that would keep these objects safe and that would also be suitable to their traditional functions. One day he had a visit from a Westerner who, during the conversation, suggested the idea of constructing the most important building in the town in the form of an apple which, according to Western traditions of belief, played a crucial part in the shaping of human destiny.
