For me, this film shows the poetic way of the amazing sport of rock climbing.
It’s a difficult task to explain and teach the spirit of rock climbing without showing many images of the climbing and it’s technique.
There where the beauty of the imperfections of nature will never be ignored by humans and by the obsession of the obstinate man about perfections.There in the salvage nature is where I made my first short film, on the shores of an island, of a mystical and historical sea; Majorca. And I feel very proud to be working with these global athletes on my first film experience.
Disconnecting from the sport that I liked most has not been easy and it has taken me years to understand and assimilate the absence of climbing and mountaineering in my life. Getting excited again with the poetry of climbing is very exciting. As a poet, in my first experience of making a film, obviously what is most perceived is poetry and nature.
It is a simple short film where poetry tells a story. The magic of nature´s special rock is explained through the poetry that exists on the shores of a beautiful island in the Mediterranean Sea; It is Es Pontàs.
I hope that the friends of the world of technical and athletic climbing will forgive me, but I have not resisted the temptation, there is more poetry than climbing ...
In some future works, there may be more climbing, but my first film I have wanted to expose the poetry by which many people have become rock climbers.
It is a documentary film in the format of a short film that tries to convey my perception of Es Pontàs (a unique rock formation), from a perspective that is more poetic than sports and more sentimental than action.
I am very grateful to the only three climbers in the world who have climbed this legendary route of Es Pontàs: Chris Sharma, Jernej Kruder and Jan Hojer, for the participation of each one in this film that, above all, highlights the magic of a unique stone. Many thanks to you for this experience within the noblest scenario of climbing with great difficulty.
In many of the impressive films starring athletes like Chris Sharma performing real feats on this rock, as well as in footage of other great climbers of the world, you can appreciate the beauty of climbing difficulty. My film contains poetry, because my heart asked for it.
This artistic work has been an important and exciting challenge for me and I hope that you can enjoy it as much as I do.
