Dirt Bikes, Four Wheelers vs Boston and Massachusetts State Police
When you do something illegal you need a camera so you can upload your illegal stuff to the internet.
A trooper shot and wounded a Randolph man and five people were arrested after a chaotic scene involving dozens of people riding off-road bikes and all-terrain-vehicles dangerously on Interstate 93, state police said.
Exit 18 on Interstate-93 southbound near Albany Street was closed for several hours Saturday night after the police-involved shooting.
The shooting and arrests occurred as authorities were responding to numerous 911 calls from motorists and witnesses reporting a large group of masked riders recklessly doing “wheelies” across the city and causing traffic dangers, state police said.

“Approximately 25 to 35 people were riding off-road bikes, motorcycles, and ATVs in a reckless manner in Boston,” Massachusetts State Police spokesman David Procopio said in a statement. “Police received numerous 911 calls reporting reckless operation by this group that was endangering the public.”
The riders “were mostly wearing masks, their faces were obscured, almost every rider,” said Sean, a witness who recorded video of the large group of riders in traffic.
“They scared us,” recounted another witness who saw the riders weaving in and out of traffic and doing “wheelies.”
Around 5 p.m., troopers saw the group traveling in an erratic and dangerous manner on I-93 southbound, and they encountered the group on the ramp to Exit 18 (Mass Avenue) and tried to make arrests, Procopio said.
“During that encounter, a trooper discharged his weapon, striking one of the riders, a 28-year-old Randolph man,” Procopio said.
That man was sent to Boston Medical Center for treatment of what is believed to be a non-life-threatening injury. Another rider who was not shot complained of pain and was sent to an area hospital for evaluation.

A trooper sustained a knee injury during the incident and was transported to Massachusetts General Hospital for treatment, Procopio said.
Sources tell the I-Team’s Cheryl Fiandaca that a state trooper shot a person in the foot, and the person is expected to survive.
At the scene Saturday night, investigators appeared to be focused on a light-colored four-wheeler. Around 7 p.m., a flatbed truck carrying several motorcycles was seen leaving the scene of the shooting.
State Police seized approximately 20 motorcycles and ATVs. Several riders fled the scene during the incident, Procopio said.
A witness named Sean who spotted a group of motorcyclists on Massachusetts Avenue earlier Saturday told WBZ-TV that the riders “looked like they were out for fun, for sure.”
“A lot of wheelies. I’ve seen the bikes ride as a big group before, but this was the largest, which is why I put my phone up (to record video), because it was just an extra large group of riders,” said Sean, who tweeted out video of what he saw.
Five suspects were arrested and charged with various offenses, Procopio said. They are expected to be arraigned in Boston Municipal Court next week.
The two suspects who were hospitalized are also expected to be charged.
The incident remains under investigation by the State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section and Crime Scene Services Section and the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office. Boston Police are assisting in the investigation.
Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call the State Police Detective Unit for Suffolk County at 617-727-8817.

Mark Essex
At 10:15 a.m. on January 7, 1973, Essex shot grocer Joe Perniciaro with his .44 Magnum carbine and next carjacked Marvin Albert as he sat in his 1968 Chevrolet Chevelle outside his house on South White Street. Essex drove Albert's stolen vehicle to the Downtown Howard Johnson's Hotel at 330 Loyola Avenue in New Orleans' Central Business District, across the street from City Hall and Orleans Parish Civil District Court. After almost hitting a startled motorist in the hotel's parking garage, Essex began to climb the stairs, only to find the fire doors locked on floor after floor.
Gaining entry from a fire stairwell on the 18th floor, the top floor of the building, Essex startled three Howard Johnson's employees, all of whom were African-American. Essex told them not to worry, as he was only there to kill white people. The employees promptly notified the authorities. In the hallway in front of room 1829, Essex found 27-year-old vacationing Dr. Robert Steagall and his wife Betty, a couple from Virginia enjoying a belated honeymoon. After a struggle with Dr. Steagall, Essex shot him in the chest and shot Betty in the back of the head. The Steagalls both died of their injuries. In the room, he soaked telephone books with lighter fluid and set them ablaze under the curtains. Essex dropped a Pan-African flag onto the floor beside the bodies of the couple as he left. On the 11th floor, Essex shot his way into several rooms and set more fires. On the 11th floor, he shot and killed Frank Schneider, the hotel's assistant manager, and shot Walter Collins, the hotel's general manager. Collins died in the hospital three weeks later as a result of his gunshot wounds.
The police and fire department quickly arrived. Two officers tried to use a fire truck's ladder to enter the building, but were shot at by Essex. A few minutes later, Essex shot and killed NOPD Officers Phillip Coleman and Paul Persigo from his perch on the 18th floor. Times-Picayune photographer G.E. Arnold took an iconic photo as Coleman died of a head wound in Duncan Plaza. Arnold also captured a shot of a wounded Eighth District NOPD officer, Ken Solis, shot in the shoulder and leaning against a tree as another officer, Dave McCann, was trying to stop the bleeding, all while other police and bystanders take cover. While trying to rescue trapped officers, Deputy Superintendent Louis Sirgo was fatally shot in the spine by Essex. Lt. Lewis Townsend, a Tulane medical student, walked into the open field to carry Sirgo out of the line of fire, then returned to class.
Seeing the story on TV, Lt. General Chuck Pitman of the United States Marine Corps offered the use of a CH-46 military helicopter to assist the police officers. The helicopter was loaded with armed men and dispatched to the hotel. By this time, Essex had retreated up to the roof of the building where he and the helicopter exchanged many rounds over many hours. As nightfall came, Essex managed to hole himself up in a concrete cubicle that would protect him in the southeast side of the roof. As he stepped out once again in the open to fire again on the helicopter, and after hitting the helicopter's transmission, Essex was barraged with fatal gunfire from police sharpshooters on the roofs of adjacent buildings as well as the automatic weapons aboard the helicopter. An autopsy later revealed more than 200 gunshot wounds.

3 officers injured in attack involving gang members at Souza-Baranowski Maximum Security Prison
Two correction officers remain hospitalized after being injured in an attack at the Souza-Baranowski Maximum Security Prison, 5 Investigates has learned.
A third officer was also injured in the Friday attack but has since been released from a hospital.
Multiple ambulances were called to the prison around 11 a.m.
Surveillance video from the prison shows the attack, which sources said involved members of a gang known as the Latin Kings. 5 Investigates reports that one officer was jumped by members of the gang and two other officers who tried to help were also attacked.
One of the correction officers involved in this incident immediately radioed for assistance. Additional correction officers responded and within minutes secured the area, the Department of Correction said in a statement.
Among the two officers who remain hospitalized, one suffered a broken jaw and other facial and head injuries. Sources told 5 Investigates that the officer will need surgery, which may not happen until early next week.
The other, who suffered neck and spine injuries, is expected to be released this weekend, sources said.
Six inmates were removed from the unit, DOC officials said.
These inmates will be facing internal discipline and DOC staff will provide the Worcester District Attorney’s Office with all available facts and evidence relating to the assaults, the department said.
The incident remains under investigation by authorities, including the Worcester County DA.
The facility, which houses more than 1,000 prisoners, was placed in lockdown after the incident. Lockdown means inmate movements and visits are restricted.
According to the correction officers' union, attacks on staff are up 150 percent in the past year at the prison. Union officials suggest that a new criminal justice reform law is to blame because it grants inmates more freedom and the chance to plan violence.
