Car Camera - Lincoln, NE - NE 2: U.S. 77 to Bennet Interchanges . 2013 ( ネブラスカ州リンカーン )
Ah, what can be said about today's road trip??? It's been a long time coming. A major trucking artery between Interstate 80 and Kansas City (I-29), Nebraska Highway 2 has been in long need of a bypass around south Lincoln, Nebraska, U.S.A... a.k.a. South Beltway - which has been over 10 years in the making and will take over another 10.
Ah well, what am I saying, the truck traffic isn't all that bad today anyways ;p . Any-ways, Hwy. 2 is what it is. Rush hour is a real drag! There really isn't another road in Lincoln that goes from Downtown to SE Lincoln, besides Capital Parkway/Normal Boulevard, but that road stops at S. 70th St. The city is planning a six-lane expansion of some sections of Hwy. 2 here in Lincoln at some point, but that will be in a few years over a period of years and how much is contingent on the South Beltway being built. Concrete is so expensive now-a-days :p !
...but besides all of that stuff, I hit today on a solid white late fall day with snow on the ground ^_^ (what a difference a weekend makes :p ). Luckily the roads aren't too slushy yet because of the super cold temperatures we're having. Nebraska, gott'a love the weather! Like they say here, You don't like the weather? Wait ten minutes. ^_~
One note to make... in the past, we've been on a section or two of Hwy. 2 in other videos, but in the other direction. It's hard to miss 2 when going into south Lincoln ^_~ .
So, please enjoy the ride and the white ^^ !
The eastern half of NE Hwy. 2 in Nebraska is now complete video-wise except for a very small segment from U.S. Hwy. 75 into Iowa at Nebraska City. Woo-hoo!

Wild Hogs Attack, Kill Woman In Texas
Health Care Professional Attacked And Killed By Wild Hogs In Texas
#Texas #WildHogs #FeralHogs
A caretaker found dead Sunday outside a home near Anahuac, Texas in Chambers County, Texas was killed by feral hogs, a tragic and very rare case that initially puzzled investigators, Chambers County Sheriff Brian Hawthorne said Monday afternoon.
Liberty native Christine Rollins, 59, worked as the caretaker for an elderly couple at their home along State Highway 61 in rural Chambers County. One of her clients, an 84-year-old woman, waited for her to show up Sunday, but Rollins never arrived.
When the elderly woman went outside her front door, she found Rollins dead in the yard between her car and the front door, according to the sheriff’s office. She suffered a severe head injury and several other injuries on her body consistent with animal bites, Hawthorne said.
The Jefferson County Coroner's Office officially ruled Monday that a feral hog assault caused her death, he said. The death was ruled an accident.
Only four fatal wild pig attacks have ever been reported in the United States, including three instances where the pig was injured during a hunt, according to a study published in 2013 from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
Feral hogs are considered an invasive species or nuisance animals in Texas. Their takeover of the state has been well documented. They tear up lawns and plants, poop in the water supply and skulk around highways, according to a 2017 report in the Dallas Morning News.
Texas landowners can get rid of a hog in their property by any means necessary, including shooting, snaring, trapping and capture with dogs trained for that purpose, according the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension website.
The sheriff passed his condolences along to Rollins' family and the elderly couple she was caring for. The couple lived on about 10 or 12 acres of pasture and woods, and the feral hogs had taken over part of their land, he said.
Wild pigs (also known as wild hogs, wild boar, or feral swine) are an Old World species and are not native to the Americas. The first wild pigs in the United States originated solely from domestic stock brought to North America by early European explorers and settlers.
In the centuries following European exploration and colonization of the eastern U.S., free-range livestock management practices and escapes from enclosures resulted in the establishment of wild pig populations and promoted their spread.

Why Is Costco Opening Its Own Chicken Farm?
In fall 2019, Costco will open a chicken farming operation in eastern Nebraska. This venture will provide Costco with 100 million chickens, or 40 percent of its yearly chicken needs, allowing it to partially escape the American chicken oligopoly run by the likes of Tyson, Pilgrim's Pride and Perdue.
One of the brand's iconic products is the Costco rotisserie chicken. Costco sells about 60 million of them every year, but they're a loss leader. Costco sells these chickens at a loss sometimes up to 30 to 40 million dollars per year. The chickens are a lure to get customers in the door. They're placed strategically at the back of every Costco so customers might pick up other items along the way.
That's why Costco wants to keep the price so low.
The trouble is that chicken prices have crept up over the last 10 years and the industry is practically an oligopoly run by the likes of Tyson and Perdue. Costco like most American Grocers buys from these behemoth companies because there's no other option. But not anymore. In 2016 Costco announced its plans to open a chicken farming operation in eastern Nebraska. It will own the whole supply chain from baby chicks to feed to the final product. This operation will provide Costco with 40 percent of its yearly chicken needs about 100 million chickens.

Why Is Costco Opening Its Own Chicken Farm?
Did Abraham Lincoln Smoke Weed?
Abraham Lincoln was an American politician and lawyer most known because he served as the 16th president of the United States. At the time that he was elected in 1860, no one would’ve predicted his success, but today he’s known as one of the greatest presidents of the United States. Before becoming successful, Lincoln had very little formal schooling as he spent most of his time working to support his family. After settling in New Salem, Illinois, Lincoln got involved in politics as a supporter of the Whig Party when he was elected to the state legislature in 1834. Lincoln opposed the spread of slavery, which eventually paved the way for slavery’s abolition with his Emancipation Proclamation. In 1846, Lincoln won the election to the U.S. House of Representatives. He was then elected to Congress, which led him to take a break from politics, promising not to seek election, which he ultimately sought after the Kansas-Nebraska Act gave each state the right to be free or slave. Lincoln joined the new Republican Party in opposition of slavery in 1848 and ran for Senate that same year. After losing that election, he continued to gain popularity, eventually earning the Republican nomination for president. Lincoln carried the Electoral College to win the presidency in 1860.
Many people argue Abraham Lincoln smoked marijuana because in a letter he writes, “Two of my favorite things are sitting on my front porch smoking a pipe of sweet hemp, and playing my Hohner harmonica. Many dispute this because apparently Hohner Harmonica Company didn’t start making harmonicas until after this letter was sent, which the curator of the Hohner museum denies ever existed. Also, Lincoln has no history of smoking, so there’s no other evidence indicating he smoked marijuana.

Goodhue designed state capitol building was completed in 1932 and is the second tallest capitol in the United States. As the city is the seat of government for the state of Nebraska, the state and the United States government are major employers. The University of Nebraska was founded in Lincoln in 1867. The university is the largest in Nebraska with 26,079 students enrolled and is the city's third-largest employer. Other primary employers fall within the service and manufacturing industries, including a growing high-tech sector. The region makes up a part of what is known as the greater Midwest Silicon Prairie.
Designated as a refugee-friendly city by the U.S. Department of State in the 1970s, the city was the twelfth-largest resettlement site per capita in the United States by 2000. Refugee Vietnamese, Karen (Burmese ethnic minority), Sudanese and Yazidi (Iraqi ethnic minority) people, as well as other refugees from Iraq & the Middle East, have been resettled in the city.
