Kevin Dillon, Bradley International Airport, Connecticut, New England
Kevin Dillon, Executive Director, Bradley International Airport, Connecticut Airports, New England, talking about the Aer Lingus direct service from Dublin Ireland to Bradley International Airport, Connecticut, New England. Kevin talks about the importance of Irish travel agents and the Irish travel industry.
Video transcript:
- - Aer Lingus service here at Bradley International Airport has been a major addition to our route menu here at the airport. It's given us access certainly to Ireland but to all of Europe, and that's an important component for a growing airport like Bradley International Airport. Well Bradley International Airport is a great alternative airport to access New England, but our unique location where we're equidistant between New York and Boston also gives travelers day trip access to both of those locations, so we feel we're a great entry point into new England. What we're selling here at Bradley is convenience. We're an extremely convenient airport to operate through, our access from gate to curb is extremely convenient, you can make that within minutes. All of our services here are oriented towards customer service and convenience, we always have that uppermost in mind. Well Bradley airport is located in the heart of New England, so we have access to all of the tourist venues in New England, but we're a primary access point to Connecticut. Connecticut has a lot of tourist attractions here, we have two of the largest casinos in the world, we have access to Mystic Seaport, is literally on our doorstep here at Bradley Airport. But the other thing that we can tout here at Bradley, is that we can also provide the day trip access to Boston and to New York, so we like to see our travelers come here, enjoy the benefits of Connecticut, but also have that access to two large metropolitan areas. Travel agents in Ireland are extremely important to us. We know the success of this route and the success of Bradley relies on you quite a bit. So we're here to provide you anything you need to make sure that your trip for your customers coming to the US and into New England in particular is as easy as possible. So anything you need, we're here for you.

Gov. Malloy announces new Aer Lingus service from Bradley International Airport to Dublin
Governor Dannel P. Malloy and officials from the Connecticut Airport Authority (CAA) today announced the reestablishment of transatlantic service at Bradley International Airport - a years-long effort that Governor Malloy has completed in order to support the economy, boost tourism, and improve travel for our to and from our state.
Joined at the airport this afternoon by CAA Board Chair Mary Ellen Jones, CAA Executive Director Kevin Dillon, Department of Economic and Community Development Commissioner (DECD) Catherine Smith, Aer Lingus Executive Vice President for North America Jack Foley, and members of the business community from across the state, the Governor unveiled new, nonstop Aer Lingus service between Windsor Locks, Connecticut and Dublin, Ireland.
The Aer Lingus-operated flight, using Boeing 757 aircraft, will be daily starting September 2016. It will include one evening departure from Bradley at 6:20 p.m. that arrives in Dublin at 5:20 a.m., and one afternoon departure from Dublin at 2:30 p.m. that arrives at Bradley at 4:40 p.m. Each flight will include 12 business class seats. The airline's current 757 fleet is powered by locally manufactured Pratt & Whitney PW2000 engines.
This is about growing our economy, boosting tourism, and building a Connecticut for the future. We have been working on this for years, and with today's announcement, it will soon become a reality, Governor Malloy said. Traveling to and from Connecticut will be easier with direct access to Europe, and the many international hubs that Aer Lingus serves throughout the world. This new flight will not just ease travel for residents, it opens the door to connecting our state to new business opportunities and new economic development initiatives. We have a significant corporate base within Connecticut and our surrounding states that have substantial regional and European connectivity needs. As a centrally located, major airport, Bradley will continue to be an important economic driver for Connecticut. We welcome Aer Lingus to Windsor Locks and we look forward to their many years of service in our state.
Aer Lingus is pleased to mark the beginning of this new partnership with Bradley International Airport and the State of Connecticut, Aer Lingus CEO Stephen Kavanagh said. The addition of daily two class service aboard B757 will connect Hartford directly with our Dublin gateway and provide convenient connections to a wide range of British and European cities. This opportunity to serve the business and tourism markets in Connecticut is something that Aer Lingus is uniquely positioned to deliver upon and I'd like to thank all those who have lent their support to this initiative. We look forward to welcoming our guests on-board in 2016.
The new flight comes after Governor Malloy created the Connecticut Airport Authority in 2011 with the specific aim of enhancing Bradley - as well as the state's five other general aviation airports - into vibrant economic drivers and attract flights and services like those announced today. As a result of the CAA's renewed focus on route development, passenger levels at Bradley increased 8.4% in 2014.
Under Governor Malloy's direction, there are several projects currently underway aimed at revitalizing Bradley's facilities, including the demolition of the airport's Murphy Terminal, which will be followed by a road realignment project and the construction of a consolidated rental car facility. And in the coming years, there are plans to increase public transit to the airport, including bus service to the Windsor Locks Train Station on the Hartford Line commuter rail service between New Haven and Springfield, which is currently under development.

Max Frankel. 9. Funeral
The audio on this video was overlaid with photos taken at the funeral of Max Meir ben Isak Frankel on May 15, 2011. In addition to an abiding faith in God and a commitment to Torah and Tradition, Max Frankel bequeathed to each of his four sons a wealth of memories that is treasured by each. He will be profoundly missed.
Obituary from American Israelite (Front Cover Article) May 26, 2011
The Israelite is saddened to learn of the death on May 13, 2011 (9 Iyar, 5771) of Max Frankel. Although some will remember with fondness how Frankel led the auxiliary services for the High Holidays for many years at Golf Manor Synagogue, and his extraordinary Jewish Culture & Arts program which featured noted artists and performers several times each year, Frankel is perhaps best remembered in local circles for his 25 years of dedicated service as the Executive Director of the Bureau of Jewish Education. At the time of his retirement 14 years ago, Frankel was the most senior in length of service of all directors of Bureaus and Central Agencies for Jewish Education in the United States. His administration of the BJE was marked by tireless effort and numerous innovations that made the now defunct Federation-funded agency an effective and respected partner of all area Jewish schools.
Many of the programs and services the BJE provided year-round, were introduced, developed or expanded during Frankel's tenure. Among the better-known of these were: the Jewish Teacher Center; the Jewish Media Center; the TIKVAH Juniors and Seniors programs for the developmentally disabled; the Florence Melton Adult Mini-School; the Jewish Heritage Seminars for public school teachers; Professional Enrichment and Growth Subsidies and Incentive Grant Programs for teachers in Cincinnati's religious schools; Teen programs e.g. the March of the Living trip to Poland and Israel, the Panim el Panim Youth Mission to Washington, and the Teacher Assistant Program, training day school Junior high school students for service in Cincinnati's congregational schools; the year-round Discount Jewish Book Store; and the much beloved Jewish Book Fair and Entertainment Series ... the list could go on.
As a Yiddish speaking twelve-year-old, Frankel immigrated with his parents to the United States in 1940 after experiencing two years of forced house arrest in Vienna, Austria during WWII. Only narrowly escaping with his parents on the last passenger ship out of the port of Trieste, Italy, Frankel's four older siblings were sent ahead of them to America, England and Holland to escape the escalating Nazi terror. Despite the fact that each survived the war (his older brother Hesh had harrowing stories of his near death experiences in several concentration camps), Frankel's oldest brother, Efraim, sadly died only shortly after arriving in America.
After arriving in America, and graduating from the Yeshiva Israel Salanter (now SAR Academy in Riverdale, NY), Frankel went on to attend Yeshiva University's high school and college. A cum laude graduate of the Teachers Institute of Yeshiva University and of Yeshiva College of Liberal Arts, Frankel went on to serve in several prominent educational settings in Rochester, Erie, Boston, Philadelphia, and finally, Cincinnati. All told, Frankel served 48 years as a master educator and educational administrator.
Described at his funeral as a gentle, kind-hearted, and affable man who loved a good joke and always had a book in his hand and a song in his heart, Frankel was laid to rest by his loving family at the Beth David Cemetery in Elmont, NY (the same cemetery as his oldest brother Efraim) and is survived by his wife of 58 years, Gloria Frankel of Cincinnati OH; their four sons, Edwin (Anna) Frankel of Columbus, OH; Jeffrey Frankel of Commack, NY; Daniel (Jodi) Frankel of Suwanee, GA; and David (Cindy) Frankel of Kew Gardens Hills, NY; his older brother Hesh (Miriam) Frankel of Givatayim, Israel; his oldest sibling Molly Frankel Neuman of Englewood, NJ; and his ten loving grandchildren, Joshua, Elisheva, Sara, Dustin, Kaitlyn, Sydney, Sarah, Shayna Laya, Shira, and Miriam. Shiva was held at David's home in Kew Gardens Hills, NY.
