I’m here at the Escape lounge T2 and I’m going to show you why airport lounges are a real money saving choice.
First of all you get to swap the busy terminal for this grown up chilled out hideaway. Let’s face it, it’s priceless. Soft and alcoholic drinks are included in the price. A couple of these in the terminal can cost you more than a tenner.
Foods free too and you’ll find it in abundance. There are breakfast rolls and a continental buffet in the morning. There are soups in the afternoon and evening, and plenty of savoury snacks for you to nibble on. There’s even free wifi, which will set you back if you buy it in the terminal.
I’m going to enjoy my free wifi, and my free coffee and cake, and a slice of smug money saving pie.

Manchester Airport (IATA: MAN, ICAO: EGCC) is an international airport at Ringway, Manchester, England, 7.5 nautical miles (13.9 km; 8.6 mi) south-west of Manchester city centre.[2][4] In 2016, it was the third busiest airport in the United Kingdom in terms of passenger numbers and the busiest outside London.[3][5] The airport comprises three passenger terminals and a goods terminal, and is the only airport in the UK other than Heathrow Airport to operate two runways over 3,280 yd (2,999 m) in length. Manchester Airport covers an area of 560 hectares (1,400 acres) and has flights to 199 destinations, placing the airport thirteenth globally for total destinations served.[6]
Officially opened on 25 June 1938,[7] it was initially known as Ringway Airport, and is still called this locally. In the Second World War, as RAF Ringway, it was a base for the Royal Air Force. The airport is owned and managed by the Manchester Airports Group (MAG), a holding company owned by the Australian finance house IFM Investors and the ten metropolitan borough councils of Greater Manchester, with Manchester City Council owning the largest stake. Ringway, after which the airport was named, is a village with a few buildings and church at the southern edge of the airport.
Future developments include the £800 million Manchester Airport City logistics, manufacturing, office and hotel space next to the airport. Ongoing and future transport improvements include the £290 million Eastern Link relief road, due to open in summer 2019. A High Speed 2 station known as Manchester Interchange, is earmarked for opening in 2033, and will directly connect the airport to Central London in under an hour and create a regular sub-10 minute shuttle service for connecting rail passengers from central Manchester to the Airport - relieving stress on the Styal Line to the Airport from Manchester which has become one of the most congested routes on the National Rail network.[8]
After the airport handled a record 27.8 million passengers in 2017,[3] the Airport is currently undergoing a major expansion programme to double the size of Terminal 2, with the first phase due to open in spring 2019. The £1 billion expansion will be completed in 2024 and enable the Terminal 2 to handle 35 million passengers.[9] Capacity exists for up to 50 million passengers annually with two runways,[10] however this potential figure is limited by the airport's restriction to 61 aircraft movements per hour as well as existing terminal sizes to effectively process arrivals and departures.[11]

Manchester airport full view landside-Version 1
One day I went out to the airport terminals just for a visit. Obviously I couldn't get to the airside areas of the terminals as I was not going on a flight, but don't worry as I'll soon be bringing out a video on terminal 1's landside and airside areas as I am going on a trip soon. Enjoy!

Sudlows - Manchester Airport Case Study
With the increasing expansion and development of the airport, Sudlows were commissioned to deliver a number of technical upgrades to the airports’ existing data centre. The mechanical team at Sudlows installed a series of upgrades to the airport’s infrastructure, installing two new cooling systems that will deliver carbon savings of over 31,000kg of CO2, every year, compared to the previous legacy equipment.
The new technology installed was not only resilient and reliable, but energy efficient with a much higher cooling capacity. Additional to this they were much quieter and had more air delivery, meaning the hot spots in the room were eradicated, making it a much safer option for such a critical environment. The works were carried out to a strict 6 week time scale to ensure minimal disruption to the airport, executed perfectly due to the intensive planning phase. The team successfully handed over to the airports maintenance team so they were able to manage the new cooling units themselves.

Hello, I’m Dan and I’m going to tell you these 7 things about the Britannia Country House, which is under 2 miles from the airport.
By car, Terminal 2 is 13 minutes away, while T1 and T3 take 14 minutes. A taxi costs around £15 and the shuttle bus is £6 per person. If you’re being savvy, use an Uber as they’re cheaper.
The bedrooms are very popular with our own guests. They’re described as compact, with basic ammenities and really comfortable beds.
Wifi is free in public areas. If you want to connect in your room, you’ll need to upgrade to an executive room from £10.
There are 2 restaurants. Jenny’s restaurant is large and full of character, with a warm and friendly atmosphere. Meals here range from burgers and currys and cost around £14.
The Overstuffed Pizzeria serves you guessed it… pizza! But there’s also pasta, steaks and salads. The average main is around £15.
A hot, buffet breakfast is served from 6:30am. It’s usually £10.50 per person, but you can add on breakfast with us and save £4.
This hotel has 3 bars, and a pint will normally cost around £3.40. Jenny’s has a daily happy hour until 8pm.
The Health and Leisure club has a pool, steam and sauna rooms, a gym and a beauty salon. It’s £5 per adult and £2 for under 16s for a day’s access.

Park 5 minutes from Terminal 2 at Manchester airports lowest priced car park. This is Long Stay 2, a firm favourite with our customers, and a great deal if you’re flying from terminal 2 or if you want to park your own car at the airport.
Our customers tell us they come here for the convenience of parking themselves and keeping their own keys. They also love that it’s only a short walk from the bus stop, where they’re picked up and whisked to the terminal in just 5 minutes.
They also love that they have the peace of mind, knowing their car is being watched over by Manchester car park security.
But don’t take our word for it, we caught up with some Holiday Extras customers who used Manchester airport Long Stay to see what they had to say.
“To be honest with you we got in and there was quite a lot of spaces for us to choose from but we opted for the nearest one to the bus stop, so it was very easy.”
“The directions that Holiday Extras gave us on the website and through the booking reference where great. So straight to the car park”
“I found the car park very easy to find, I always use SatNav, and it’s sort of fool proof really”.
“It’s been great, as soon as you come in you find your spot no problems”.
“The transfer bus was brilliant very easy, it was easy to get our cases on, the bus driver was helpful, it was just really really good, it was very convenient and would use this service again”.
“Yeah the car’s been great, just loaded the luggage up and checked it and it’s fine, no scratches, nothing, it’s been well looked after”.
“The connections from Manchester as so good that, yea, I’m always probably going to use Manchester, and I’m always going to use this car park”.
