Inside the Lancaster County Prison [Lancaster, PA]
Lancaster County Prison, built on high ground at the eastern edge of Lancaster, PA in 1851, was patterned on a castle in Lancashire, England. Builders designed its massive stone facade to assure the public that the bad guys could not escape. That prison could hold up to 160 men. A number of expansions, both outward to fill a city block and upward to seven stories, have been designed to house an ideal prison population of 1,029.

The year is 1950. Families are growing, the economy is booming, and America is as strong as it’s ever been. But somewhere across the Lancaster countryside 2 young newlyweds are running from the law. This fearless couple has been accused of one of the most well-crafted and elaborately planned robberies the state has ever seen. Betty, a bank teller, and Paul the unassuming customer have made off with more cash than imaginable. They’ve been dubbed the “Banker Bandits” and now it’s your job to find them. You’ll have 1 hour to search their latest presumed “Hideout,” the Hess barn located amongst crops and cattle. Although the bandits have not been seen, farmer John Hess, called authorities after seeing signs that his barn had been their latest refuge. He has now turned the property over to you and your team of investigators for a thorough search. Do you see the signs? Can you uncover the stolen cash and get out before encountering the deceitful duo? The clock is ticking. These two are smart and calculating so if they sense your team hot on their trail they’ll be off and running…
I hope it’s not too late to find the missing money and confirm that this is the Banker Bandits’ “Hideout!”
Good luck and hurry up...

They tend to keep to themselves, so most of us don’t know much about the Amish. We know that they wear out-of-date clothing, and drive horses and buggies - but that’s about it. Today we are going to let you in on some hidden secrets that Amish families would prefer to keep to themselves. You may have heard about the tradition known as rumspringa, since it’s generally portrayed in pop culture as a form of Amish spring break. However, the reality is far less tantalizing than you might think, and occasionally involves some drunken buggy driving. Different Amish settlements follow different sets of rules, which are called Ordnung. Some of the rules are universal, while others vary and control everything from what you wear to whether or not the settlement has a vehicle. Amish children do have their own schools, but they only go up to the eighth grade, meaning that all of their teachers only have an eighth grade education themselves. Courtship tends to be a quick affair in Amish culture. One day an Amish boy gives a girl a buggy ride home, and the next thing you know her parents are bundling them up to for bed, literally. Having your parents tuck you in when you’re no longer a child is awkward, but having them also tuck in your boyfriend and then place a board between the two of you is something else! You might be surprised to learn that not all Amish completely shun technology on principle, and they come up with some rather ingenious ways to get power while staying off the grid.

Arrest made in New Holland hit and run case
By: CBS 21 Web Staff
NEW HOLLAND, Pa. -- Police made an arrest Thursday in the hit and run case that left a teenager in critical condition.
Police filed numerous charges against Joshua Padilla-Gonzalez, 20, of New Holland, for the accident that happened Wednesday night on the 600 block of West Main Street.
Meanwhile, a Lancaster County teenager continues to fight for his life.
Fifteen-year-old Ryan Sherman remained in critical condition Monday at Penn State Hershey Medical Center after being struck by a vehicle Wednesday night in New Holland.
Police said Padilla-Gonzalez was driving a vehicle that hit the teen while riding his skateboard around 10 p.m.
Surveillance footage was provided to New Holland Police by area businesses and residents. Officers reviewed the video and lead to the discovery of Padilla-Gonzalez's vehicle.
According to police, Padilla-Gonzalez admitted in an interview that he was driving the vehicle that was involved in the accident, with a suspended license, and left the scene.
Padilla-Gonzalez was arraigned Thursday and was unable to post $40,000 bail. He was sent to Lancaster County Prison.
Sherman has undergone surgery for a broken leg and is suffering from various internal and external injuries.
The family has established a fund to help cover medical costs associated with Sherman's recovery. (
History of Woodside Lodge, Spring Mountain, Schwenksville, PA - Unravel Travel TV
The Woodside Lodge at Spring Mountain is situated near Spring Mountain Ski Area ideal for skiing, snowboarding or tubing or it's year round activities which include: Zipline/Canopy Tours, GeoCaching, Rock Climbing and Downhill Mountain Biking. The Woodside Lodge is a Restaurant and Bed and Breakfast with Banquet Facilities that is centrally located for the many travelers who tour the attractions of Philadelphia, Lancaster, Montgomery, Chester, Berks and Bucks Counties.
The History of The Woodside Lodge: On April 1, 2011, owners Rick and Gayle Buckman, purchased the Woodside Lodge, formerly know as the Woodside Inn and The Woodside Manor. As owners of Spring Mountain Ski Area located nearby, it seemed the perfect addition.
The Woodside Lodge is located on the back side of Spring Mountain. It was built in the early 1920's and is the last standing Inn among several that catered to that period's travelers who came by train to Schwenksville to escape Philadelphia 's Summer heat. The cool winds and the beaches then located along the Perkiomen Creek made Spring Mountain the place to be for the first half of the twentieth century. In fact, Rick Buckman's father worked as a bus-boy during his teenage years at the Woodside and his Aunt had her wedding reception there. In poor condition, the vision was to restore the Woodside Lodge to the wonderful meeting place that so many travelers and locals remember and to compliment our existing businesses by providing overnight lodging and breakfast for our guests. A full bar, Buckman Tavern, and Restaurant are open to the public and a Banquet Room that holds up to 100 people is available for meetings and special events. There are 8 two-room suites and a bunk room each with their own fireplace for a restful nights sleep before or after your special event or activity.
