Jacob van Dijk is zijn hele leven al visser. Toen hij laatst in weer en wind met zijn vissersboot, “The Black Seagull”, op zee was heeft hij door een plotselinge, hoge golf zijn evenwicht verloren en is hij ten val gekomen. Hoewel het allemaal veel erger af had kunnen lopen bleek de ongelukkige val toch vervelende consequenties te hebben. Jacob heeft bij de val namelijk zijn been gebroken. Voorlopig kan hij onmogelijk de zee op en kan hij het vissen dus wel vergeten. Wat nu? Er zal toch brood op de plank moeten komen… Om “The Black Seagull” toch zo spoedig mogelijk uit te kunnen laten varen rest Jacob geen andere keuze dan snel capabele zeelui te vinden die bereid zijn om hem in deze situatie te helpen. De weersvoorspellingen zijn weliswaar gunstig voor de tijd van het jaar maar de Noordzee blijft onvoorspelbaar. Niets is zo veranderlijk als het weer… Een plotseling opkomende storm kan een kalme zee in korte tijd veranderen in een kolkende watermassa met woeste golven!
Vooralsnog gaat Jacob er van uit dat het zover niet komt. Hij gaat uit van een behouden vaart… Durven jullie de uitdaging aan en zijn jullie in staat om “The Black Seagull” veilig én op tijd terug naar de haven van IJmuiden te loodsen?
