The Ghost Room Ballygally Castle Hotel
We are up in the historic Ballygally Castle Hotel ( built 1625 ), found 6 miles north of Larne on the famous Antrim Coast Road.
This is the famous Castle Ghost Room and it's sad spooky story.
The friendly Ghost on the Antrim Coast
Every castle has to have at least one ghost of some kind, and the Ballygally has been recently reported to have as many as three! The one we know most about, The Ghost of Ballygally, has been around for the best part of 400 years. The popular theory is that the ghost is that of Lady Isabella Shaw, wife of Lord James Shaw.
Legend has it that Lord Shaw wanted a son, and when his wife delivered his heir, he snatched the baby from his wife and locked her in a room at the top of the castle. While trying to escape to search for her beloved child, Lady Isabella fell to her death from the tower window! Another theory is that she was actually thrown from the window by the cruel Lord Shaw or one of his henchmen!
Lady Isabella's ghost is reputed to be a friendly spirit who walks the corridors of the old castle. Over the years many guests have reported strange experiences and have felt a presence in their rooms! There are also endless stories of unexplained noises in the night and an eerie green mist over the castle!
At Ballygally Castle we are very proud of our permanent ghost resident and have even dedicated a bedroom to her, The Ghost Room in one of the turrets in the oldest part of the castle.
For those brave enough to visit the room of Lady Isabella, make your way to the top of the spiral staircase. if you would like to find our more about the Castle History and a Ghost Tour with a member of the Hotel staff please call +44 (0)28 2858 1066.

ABC cinemas - Escape to the Cinema (1980s) HD reconstruction
This little animated cinema info/policy package was used in ABC cinemas in the early 80s (I'd love to have more precise dates, should anyone happen to know!)
The existing copies I've seen have all been rather low quality, so this is my reworking in HD quality.
The music is 'Score' by Richard Myhill.

Belfast Air (TITANIC SHORT FILM about THOMAS ANDREWS)
Don't forget to subscribe and share!
For the last 5 minutes of the sinking of the Titanic, shipbuilder Thomas Andrews sits in the smoking room contemplating the disaster and the life he's leaving behind.
Filmed entirely on green screen, using CGI renders from our upcoming video game Titanic - Honor and Glory. Models by Matthew DeWinkeleer and Kyle Hudak.
I know the green screen quality isn't that great, but in order to improve it, I'd need $3,000 to upgrade that equipment. Any contribution would be greatly appreciated!
This film was done to honor Thomas Andrews, but please keep in mind that none of us are from Ireland, nor professional actors. Please look past the accent attempts, and understand that this was done to pay him respect.
Music arranged and composed by Joseph Falabella (
There is some debate as to whether or not Thomas Andrews was in the smoking room for the last moments of the sinking. None of us will ever know, so I chose to represent the most popular belief regarding him. Whether true or not, this film represents his legend.

About my new YouTube channel:
The official BRIAN MAY CHANNEL is designed to carry anything on film or video that relates to me [Brian May] outside Queen - to replace all the bits and pieces of music video that are currently around out there with new highest quality versions, and fill in the gaps; and to cover under one umbrella the other areas that I operate in … Stereoscopy, Astronomy, and my animal welfare work through my charity the Save Me Trust. Each of these areas will have their own playlist on the Brian May channel. But the intended pivot of it all is the entirely new part that we’re calling Brian Talks. This section will carry current ‘to the camera’ comments, updates and communications, and I’m hoping it will be a proper ‘voice’ for me, an outlet, as well as a way of glueing together the rest of the channel.
Gerry Kelly, The Escape
Gerry Kelly was one of 38 republican prisoners who escaped the high security facility on 25 September 1983 - the biggest mass breakout in British penal history.
In his new book, The Escape, he gives his version of events explaining how it was planned and how the weapons were smuggled into the H Blocks.
The North Belfast MLA goes on to detail how one screw was shot and wounded in the control room as the inmates made their getaway - but does not reveal who fired the gun.
I chose not to say anything more about it,
I accept that there was a number of people in the circle and clearly one of the prisoners shot the prison officer. I was charged with it and found not guilty and that is where I leave it.
I think what happened on the day - and there was another prison officer shot and there was a small number of people injured, and there was a screw- James Ferris - who died of a heart attack, but if you look at it in the whole there was minimal violence used for the type of IRA operation involved and the number of weapons involved.
While half of those involved were recaptured within days, the mass escape drew headlines around the world and led to humiliation for the government and prison authorities.
Mr Kelly, who had been serving time for his role in 1973 bombing of the Old Bailey, went on the run in Europe before being caught in Amsterdam some years later in 1986.
Asked was the escape a kind of revenge for the deaths of 10 republican hunger strikers, he instead described it as the answer.
It was the answer to the hunger strikes because it was more than an escape, it was to say 'you think you've beaten us but you haven't', he said.
The boast was that this was the most secure prison in Europe, that was the boast, our slogan at the time was 'smash the H Blocks' and this was it.
The news that Gerry Kelly was writing a book about the Maze escape proved controversial and there were accusations by some that he is glorifying terrorism.
Former screw Dessie Waterworth said the timing of the book's release stinks.
He continued: They had their 25th anniversary in Letterkenny and they were giving medals, now they've had their 30th anniversary and a book out. It's just a propaganda exercise.
However the Sinn Féin politician maintains it was an important event in republican history.
He said: This was, in the scheme of things, a huge event in republican history. Escapes are generally told from the point of view of the prisoner and I'm telling this from the view of a republican prisoner. It was 30 years ago but I think it is relevant to now.
Describing his book, he adds: I think it's a good yarn - if it was about Colditz, or some other group besides republicans, the unionists would actually enjoy it as well.

Hampton at Hilton Horror Show
How the Hilton shafted an Honours Member.
SHOCKING
On Sunday night landing at Stansted I lost my wallet and with it my credit cards and cash. I was unable to get my hire car and now needed to stop the night so I phoned my wife and asked her to book the Hilton. I no longer live in the UK and only my elderly relatives are based here and they live in Nottinghamshire. This is what happened...
1. My wife phoned to make a payment and sent me the reservation via email. My wife was also sent a form to fill and scan back.
2. When I went to the desk I wxplained the situation and they said it was fine but I would need the card. They would not process the booking without the form. My wife couldn’t scan it so we offered to take a photo and send by sms, the Hilton said that was not good enough.
3. I asked if they would take cash and they said yes. Earlier I had phoned a client of mine who lives 90 mins away, he came to lend me money. When he gave me the cash I went to pay for the room with the cash, they wouldn’t take it because I needed a credit card on me
4. Again I explained I was stranded, I’m a member, it was about -1c outside but still they wouldn’t help
5. Before my client arrived to lend me money I asked if I could stay in their bar area, yes that was ok and the receptionist told me to get a drink. Knowing that I had no cash I thought she meant on the house, until she said “ooops I forgot you had no money”
6. I did have my mobile and charger so asked if I could plug it in, there are a number of electric points in the bar area and I was refused.
7. During all of this I remained calm despite it being very stressful. Other customers waiting a shearing my story shared their disgust.
8. I asked to see the duty manager but they refused to meet me.
9. Fortunately my client offered me a room for the night! The following day I went back to the hotel to register a complaint, they said they would look into it. Today I phoned the hotel for an answer and they said they did nothing wrong and will not even refund me!
10. Whe I phoned the hotel to get my slap in the face they said if My wife had booked with Expedia the payment is taken straight away and I wouldn’t have needed a card upon arrival.
TONIGHT I’m on a bus on my way back to Stansted for my return flight tomorrow. Because I’m lacking transport I’ve reluctantly booked a room at the Hilton through Expedia
I will never, ever again use these people. You can draw your own conclusions and make your own choice. I was stranded.l with no money or credit cards. I am a member. My wife made an over the phone booking and I was denied.
TO ADD INSULT TO INJURY, on that night when I left reception to wait in the bar area for me clients the receptionist said “enjoy”
Words escape me!
