Taipei - The Eslite Spectrum - Taiwan
Our first day in Taipei, Taiwan. After my morning walk to the park, Mrs Silverfox and I head out together, first to a local market and then to the Eslite Spectrum Mall. This place was awesome. It's right next to the Zhongshan MRT station and is a Mall that seems to be full of awesome. Unlike so many malls. It wasn't full of the same tired old brands we see everywhere around the world. Instead it was full of cool one off designs and local designers products. Add to that some amazing arts and crafts shops and you can be sure Mr's Silverfox was in heaven.

Here comes my #Vlogtober. Earlier this month I went to Le Hua Night Market for the first time after watching a taiwanese YouTube Chien Chien’s Video. I tried a lot of food for the first time and I’m truly impressed. This is by far my best night market experience in Taipei.

After a violent typhoon with furious winds and heavy showers of rain, it all finally came to a stop.
We came out immediately after the weather cleared up and headed for the Eslite in Taiwan Main station to shop for some ceramic cups.
Afterwards we headed to Shin Kong Mitsukoshi to tailor my dress pants. We were planning to go to Shi Lin Night market but it was too wet, so we decided not to. Captured by the cups McDonalds is giving away, we went inside to secure our 2nd cup of the 6 to collect. Then we headed to Guang Hua Digital Plaza where it is literally, nerd heaven.

Eslite Bookstore (Chinese: 誠品書店; pinyin: Chéngpǐn Shūdiàn) is one of the largest retail bookstore chains in Taiwan. It also provides one of the largest English language publications and translation materials in Taiwan. Its headquarters are in Xinyi District, Taipei.[1]

Underground Metro Mall plans to open to other vendors besides bookstores
The Zhongshan Metro Mall is an underground passageway connecting the Zhongshan and Shuanglian MRT stations. It previously catered to bookstores but poor business has led this facility to open to other retailers and food businesses. The news shocked bookstore operators and book lovers, who hoped the Metro Mall could stay the way it is.In the afternoon of this long holiday, many people enjoy spending time at bookstores in this Metro Mall located near MRT Zhongshan Station. The latest rumor has the Taipei Rapid Transit Corporation (TRTC), which oversees Metro Mall operations, allowing other retailers and food businesses to enter the area when the current lease ends in March next year. In an effort to develop the cultural and creative industry, Taipei City Government stipulated the Metro Mall at MRT Zhongshan Station only accommodate bookstores and businesses selling cultural and creative products. The monthly rent for such businesses is NT$877 per ping, far less than the typical price of NT$2,500 per ping. However, the TRTC has suffered staggering revenue losses associated with this mall over the years.Voice of Lu Chin-chengBusiness Operator There was no foot traffic in the beginning, now there is. The authorities didn’t thank us for that and even restrict our business. It’s frustrating. Business operators in the underground mall are frustrated by the situation as bookshops may soon be replaced by coffee shops and restaurants.
