Walked in the old town of Plovdiv in Bulgaria.ブルガリア第二の都市であるプロヴディフの旧市街。世界遺産申請しましたが、ある理由から世界遺産になりませんでしたが、欧州内の美しい旧市街の上位にきています。綺麗でのどかな旧市街で落ちつきます。
プロヴディフは、ブルガリア中部に位置するブルガリア第2の都市、およびそれを中心とした基礎自治体であり、プロヴディフ州の州都である。その人口は2010年3月時点の推計で376,103人であり、ブルガリアでは首都のソフィアに次いで2番目に大きい。
プロヴディフは新石器時代に遡る、6千年に及ぶ歴史を有しており、紀元前4千年ごろの居住跡が見つかっている。
平成28年(2016年）8月23日～31日にブルガリア政府観光庁の招待旅行（ファムトリップ）に参加しました。ブルガリアは平成24年(2012年）7月に訪問して以来2回目の訪問です。前回はソフィアだけですが、今回は、多くの都市を訪問しました。
訪問した都市は、ソフィア→プロヴディフ→シプカ峠付近→カザンラク→カルロヴォ→ヒサリャと訪問。ソフィアからブルガリア中部を周りました。政府観光庁がミニバスを手配してくれたので、それに乗り、日本に13年間住んでいたブルガリア人の日本語ガイドの方に案内してもらえました。
ブルガリアは、東ヨーロッパの共和制国家です。 バルカン半島に位置し、北にルーマニア、西にセルビア、マケドニア共和国、南にギリシャ、トルコと隣接し、東は黒海に面しています。首都はソフィアです。住民は、 スラヴ系のブルガリア人が83.9%、トルコ人が9.4%、移動型民族のロマ人が4.7%。
ブルガリアの料理は、周辺のバルカン半島諸国と類似するものが多く、ひき肉料理や煮込み料理、シレネと呼ばれるヤギの乳からつくられるチーズ、ヨーグルトなどが代表的。ヨーグルトに相当する醗酵乳食品は他の国にも存在するが、ブルガリアのヨーグルトが日本のみならず世界的に有名になっている。これはロシアの微生物学者イリヤ・メチニコフが、ヨーグルトは長寿に効果があるとしてヨーロッパ中に広めたからである。

The Open Air Architectural - Ethnographic Museum Complex Etara in Gabrovo, Bulgaria presents the Bulgarian customs, culture and craftsmanship. The park features typical Bulgarian revival houses with two floors, bay windows and a clock tower. Using original instruments and following the old traditions, locals represent around 20 characteristics of the regional crafts such as wood-carving, pottery, coppersmith crafts, furriery, cutlery making, needlework etc. There are visitors to the park, from all over the world, all the year round.
Етнографски музей на открито Етър (или Етъра) в Габрово, България представлява възстановка на българския бит, култура и занаятчийство. Той е първият по рода си музей в България. Открит е на 7 септември 1964 г. Най-важната особеност на сбирката е, че всички обекти са в действие, така както в миналото. Занаятчийска чаршия представя 16 образци на балканската архитектура, разкриващи самобитния талант на възрожденските строители. Номер 19 от 100 национални туристически обекта.

Old Town of Plovdiv, Bulgaria
Plovdiv's Old Town is a city within a city and is effectively an open-air museum of Bulgaria's Renaissance Period. Most of the buildings date from the mid to late 19th century and many have been painstakingly restored to their former glory using traditional techniques and materials relying on the works of the local Architect and Historian Hristo D Peev as guides.
Several of the buildings are House Museums whose interiors have been recreated to illustrate the lifestyles of the time. This makes for an interesting wander and even without visiting the museums themselves there are plenty of informative plaques around giving the history and details of individual residences.
Also within the Old Town are the four main sites of the City Gallery of Fine Arts, the Ethnographic Museum (itself a museum piece and former residence of the local notable Argir Kuyumdzhiouglu), several restaurants (including the well-known Hemus) as well as cafes, hotels and souvenir shops.

The old city of Plovdiv is very beautiful and diverse!
On the territory of the old city there are a huge number of ancient Roman sights of Plovdiv, like the ancient Roman amphitheater, the ancient Roman stadium, ancient Roman mosaics, Orthodox churches, ethnographic and other museums, ancient fortress walls and many others.
In this video you will see the highest point of the ancient city of Philipopolis, so called Trimontium.
Here also was an ancient Thracian city. This place is called Nebet Tepe, and from here there is an amazingly beautiful view of the whole of Plovdiv and the Rhodope Mountains. Also here you can see part of the ancient Roman city walls and a large reservoir built almost 2,000 years ago.
