This spectacular waterfall is where the Beaver River takes its plunge over the sheer Escarpment cliff.
If you've never stood at the top of a waterfall, for a droplet-eye view down the gorge, Eugenia Falls will take your breath away. Plunging into Cuckoo Valley, the Beaver River drops 23 metres over the Niagara Escarpment. One of the highest in Eastern Canada, this waterfall was the site of an early hydroelectric power station. Now, a dam upstream of the falls directs most of the flow through huge pipes, but even the trickle that remains creates a musical background to the dramatic view from Eugenia Falls Conservation Area

Hello again, folks! In an effort to film footage for June's DYL, I ended up capturing enough for an entire video. This is from mid-June, when Greg and I had some time to ourselves with a car, a camera, and no particular place to go. We ran some errands throughout God's country, and made a pit-stop at the waterfalls. Enjoy!

Video and photos taken in April, 2012 at Eugenia Falls in Eugenia, Ontario. The waterfall is located just below Lake Eugenia on the Beaver River, a short drive northeast from Flesherton. Flesherton is located between Toronto and Owen Sound on highway 10.
The water flow over the falls is controlled by a dam just upstream at Lake Eugenia. This video depicts the normal water flow, a far cry from its pre-dam days.
To get to the base, you must hike downstream along the Bruce Trail until the cliffs of the Niagara Escarpment subside enough to allow access to the river. The hike back up the Beaver River to the waterfal can be a little challenging, especially in wet weather.
