A ride up the elevator of the 185 meter Euromast Tower provides views of Rotterdam and the surrounding Netherlands area.
It was built from 1958 to 1960, for the Rotterdam Floriade, a celebrated international festival of gardening and flowers held once a decade.
Since its creation it has since been initiated into the World Federation of Great Towers.
The space tower was added to the structure in 1970 to ensure it continued to be the tallest structure in Rotterdam.
The elevator, called the Euroscoop, is equipped with seats and once at the top rotates to provide a incredible panorama of the landscape.
Along the height of the tower are a two room hotel, restaurant, gift shop, and observation deck.
For the truly daring there are activities such as abseiling and rope sliding that are sure to provide a exhilarating experience.
HOLLAND: Euromast, tower in Rotterdam
The Euromast is a tower in Rotterdam, overlooking the largest port in Europe.
Originally 101 meters in height it was the tallest building in Rotterdam. It lost this position for a while, but regained it when the Space Tower was added to the top of the building in 1970, giving an additional 85 meters.
With 185 meters it's the tallest tower in the Netherlands that's open to the public.
The Euroscoop is an revolving elevator around the Space Tower (with seats) that let you enjoy the view up to 185 meters.
The Euromast was designed by Hugh Maaskant. He also designed a number of notable buildings in Rotterdam and Amsterdam, notably the Hilton Hotel (1962) and Groothandelsgebouw (1951) in Rotterdam, and the Pier tower in Scheveningen (1961).
The Euromast was constructed between 1958 and 1960. For stability it is built on a concrete block so that the centre of gravity is below ground.
Euromast is a member of the World Federation of Great Towers.

Rotterdam is only 30 min from Amsterdam, and like most areas in The Netherlands/Holland, totally accessible by public transport. Add it to your list!

The Euromast is a tower in Rotterdam. It is the highest observation tower in the Netherlands, which is open to visitors. The Euromast was designed by H A Maaskant, in 1960. The first tower was 112 meters high, but later an additional tower was built on top. The reason is that more and more skyscrapers were built, resulting in the Euromast was no longer the tallest building in Rotterdam. The tower is 185 meters high now. Those who dared, can go to the highest point with a glass elevator, called the Euroscope, starting from the Euroscoopdek (at 112 meters height) to, an altitude of 180 meters. From Euroscope you have a beautiful view of the area of Rotterdam. The elevator slowly turns around so you can see everything around you well. You can see Madurodam near The Hague and in good weather you can even look into Belgium, because then you can see the city of Antwerp! For the real daredevils there is a spectacular attraction: you can abseil from the Euromast in Rotterdam! Enjoy this special way of the view of Rotterdam, while an experienced guide will give you explanations. You feel completely free when you make this particular descent! Also you can enjoy sliding down the Euromast. Perched on a pulley system you fly in a small 20 seconds 100 meters down. A unique experience! Everything can in the Euromast in Rotterdam Enjoy your food and the view of the Euromast in Rotterdam. It is possible to stay overnight in the Euromast. There are two beautiful suites available, called Heaven and Stars. From the suites you have a fantastic view over Rotterdam. Also you can eat in the Euromast. On the ground floor you can enjoy snacks and drinks at the restaurant Deli. If you prefer eating while enjoying a beautiful view, you can enjoy delicious food in the brasserie at 100 meters altitude.

My visit to the Euromast Observation Tower in Rotterdam The Netherlands last late December. It was a very cold winter day and we decided to take a day trip from Amsterdam to visit Rotterdam for one day. Rotterdam was colder than Amsterdam and this was a very fun activity to do on that day. You can see miles on end with the views from the Euromast Observation Tower. I highly recommend a visit to the Euromast Observation Tower in Rotterdam The Netherlands if you are visiting this city. It's loads of fun!

Euromast is an observation tower in Rotterdam, Netherlands, designed by Hugh Maaskant constructed between 1958 and 1960. The tower is a concrete structure with an internal diameter of 9 m (30 ft) and a wall thickness of 30 cm (12 in).For stability it is built on a concrete block of 1,900,000 kg (4,200,000 lb) so that the centre of gravity is below ground. It has a crow's nest observation platform 96 m (315 ft) above-ground and a restaurant. Originally 101 m (331 ft) in height it was the tallest building in Rotterdam. It lost this position to the high-rise of Erasmus MC (113.5 m, 372 ft)which was completed in 1968, but regained it when the Space Tower was added to the top of the building in 1970, giving an additional 85 m (279 ft). Euromast is a member of the World Federation of Great Towers. In 2008 and 2009, the tower hosted an extreme sports event which featured BASE jumping.
