G.I. Joe Retaliation 3D - RED CARPET PREMIERE SYDNEY - eVent Cinemas George St - 14th March 2013
A Team of Ninjas from different parts of town were called upon to pull off some live action for the Australian premiere of G.I. Joe Retaliation 3D. It was a high caliber collection of male and female Martial Artists, Acrobats and Freerunners, all bringing their experience and skills to make the special event one for audiences to remember. The evening was jam-packed with media, celebrities and anticipated fans, all stunned by the live action that took place.
Here are the highlights of the event captured by our very own Simon Huynh, it was an absolute thrill for all of us to be a part of the event and especially to work alongside other talented performers and artists.

The Q4JC crew (Maria Tran, Andy Minh Trieu, Steve Ada, along with Shaun Chang) headed off to Macquarie Park to watch Jackie Chans feature Little Big Soldier at Event Cinemas, Macquarie Centre. Known as one of the few cinemas to screen Asian Cinema, Macquarie Centres Event Cinemas is one of the largest complexes in Sydney.
From Maria Tran:
One is an old soldier who only wants to survive. The other is a young general who is aspiring to conquer. After a bloody battle, the two are the only ones alive.When the soldier finds the injured general, he decides to kidnap him and brings him on a long journey to collect a reward, thinking by doing so he will no longer need to fight a war
The general, feeling insulted, attempts suicide but is saved by the soldier every time.Somewhere along the way, the soldier and the general find themselves becoming allies in a fight against the real villains.The story of Little Big Soldier is mapped out by Jackie Chan who had conceived it for 20 years.
Chan told Sohu.com in an interview that he has talked about the story with many people. But director Ding Sheng was the only one who has translated the colloquial story into a screenplay.Ding Sheng also directs the comedic road film, starring Jackie Chan as the soldier and Lee-Hom Wang as the general. Jackie Chan, who supervises the production, says the film is about lives during wartime and is a strong message that peace is priceless.
My (Marie Setiawan) thoughts on the film: I grew up watching Jackie Chan films, and this one didnt disappoint. Famous for his action choreography mixed with comic relief, Jackie Chan delivered. The film was entertaining, but not stagnant that it would slow its pace. It wasnt as punchy as his Hollywood counterparts, such as Rush Hour or Shanghai Noon, but it brought back the roots of Asian cinema again. It brought me back to the films I adored and loved as a kid. But what I really admired was the underlying message that was coming across through the entertainment. I agree that Jackie had successfully pulled it off and it came across so powerfully in the end.
Overall, what do I say about the film? Its MARVELOUS!

St Leonards was named after English statesman Thomas Townshend, 1st Viscount Sydney of St Leonards. Originally, St Leonards applied to the whole area from the present suburb of North Sydney to Gore Hill. The township of St Leonards in 1883 is now North Sydney.
The oldest railway station on the North Shore line opened in 1890 in St Leonards and originally only ran to Hornsby.[2]
The Gore Hill cemetery was established on the Pacific Highway in 1868 and was the main burial site for the area until its closure in 1975. It is still maintained as a heritage site by the Department of Local Government and Lands, Willoughby Municipal Council and the Heritage Council of New South Wales.
In the 1960s Grace Bros. planned to build a shopping centre. Rival department store David Jones had plans to build their own shopping centre known as Garden City at Epping Road, Macquarie Park on what was industrial land. David Jones had difficulty seeking approval with the plans rejected by Ryde Council and they were forced to lodge their plans with the State Planning Authority. Garden City was designed by Donald Crone, one of the leading architects who had designed the Sydney Tower. The plans included 80 speciality stores, an office tower and a distribution centre which would replace the one at Alexandria. In November 1969, the State Government approved the Grace Bros proposal while David Jones proposal on zoning grounds was rejected.[4]
The Grace Bros. centre eventually opened as Macquarie Centre in 1981 on a 9.4 hectare site adjoining the university and was developed by Grace Bros.[5] Macquarie Centre was anchored by Grace Bros, Big W, Woolworths, Target and Greater Union. Franklins Big Fresh was added to the centre in 1992 and was renamed to Franklins in 2001 and operated until its closure in 2012.
In 2000 the 'Escape' and 'Loft' areas were opened, which included a major facelift in 1999 to the centre's entrances, extra parking and new retail stores. These included Borders (second store in Australia), BaySwiss, Dick Smith Powerhouse, Freedom and Wheel & Barrow. The Loft was designed as a home wares precinct.[6] This development also included new food outlets and an expansion of the Greater Union cinema complex, from 8 to 16 cinemas. Greater Union was renamed to Event Cinemas in 2009.
Macquarie Ice Rink is an ice rink and opened in 1981 and is home to Sydney Bears and Sydney Ice Dogs ice hockey teams. The ice rink is used for ice skating, ice dance, speed skating and ice hockey. It is the only facility in Sydney to provide a full size Olympic rink (60m x 30m) with seating for approximately 2000 people.[7] Macquarie Ice Rink was used for the 1991 World short track speed skating Championships.[8]
Since 5 January 2009, Macquarie Centre has implemented paid parking systems. Many of the retail shops and firms of Macquarie Centre have undergone extensions and/or renovations since early 2007.[citation needed]
In 2010, Fitness First opened on the space vacated by Freedom and JB Hi-Fi moved from the location on level 2 to the space vacated by Borders on level 4.
AMP Wholesale Shopping Centre Fund No. 2 wholly owns the centre after an ownership agreement was reached with former co-owner Westfield Management Limited in 2012.

Devoted father Jang-su (Don LEE) is very good at minding his own business and only cares about his young daughter who has been on a heart transplant list for over 4 years. Tae-jin (KIM Young-kwang) is a rookie policeman who goes out of his way to help the citizens and even tracks down suspicious criminal activities on his free time. When he falls into coma while chasing down a lead, he appears before Jang-su as a ghost. Tae-jin has no choice but to ask Jang-su for help since he’s the only one who can see him. To Tae-jin’s dismay, Jang-su won’t do anything to help even if it’s to save Tae-jin’s fiancée from danger…

Ever wondered what watching a movie would be like on Sydney Harbour? Canon Australia aired Tales by Light at Sydney Harbours open air cinema. Tales by Light was a National Geographic Channel six part series which followed five photographers around the world, a film crew followed each photographer capturing their day to day movements as they captured some of the most breathtaking images on the planet.
Not only was it an amazing experience watching the movie on Sydney Harbour but the production level of the films were on another level, put together by Abraham Joffe of Untitled Films, in all honesty the quality of the film was on the same level if not higher than that of the photographers in the films.
Earlier in the day I also attended the ‘People with Cameras’ a photography event put together by Fuji Films Australia.
The event attracted over 400 people and Sydney put on a glorious late summers day, it was great to see so many people enjoying photograph.
