Amsterdam's best art museum, the Rijksmuseum
The Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam, the Netherlands is a huge world-famous collection presented in 80 galleries, exhibiting 8,000 objects that tell the story of 800 years of Dutch art and history. This collection focuses primarily on Dutch paintings of the 16th and 17th centuries, rather than trying to present a complete sample of the entire world of art. The museum has a lot to show, thanks especially to the extreme genius of great native painters, Frans Hals, Vermeer, van Ruisdael, Jan Steen, and most-famously, Rembrandt.
Don’t miss out on the absolute highlights, like Vermeer’s Milkmaid, Van Gogh’s Self-portrait and a gorgeous collection of Delft Blue pottery ranging from tea sets to vases,
The total archive includes 1 million objects from the years 1200–2000, with more than 2,000 paintings from the Dutch Golden Age. Some 30 galleries are dedicated to the glory of the Golden Age, when the young mercantile republic led the world in trade, science, shipping and the arts.
Many objects from Dutch history tell the story with Paintings, prints, drawings, photographs, silver, porcelain, delftware, furniture, jewelry, costumes and more. There are also dozens of rooms with medieval arts and later decorative pieces of the 19th century, 17th century miniature house models, along with a sampling of minor Italian Renaissance paintings
The building itself is a major work of art, designed in neo-Gothic and Reneissance styles by Pierre Cuypers, who also designed the similar-looking Central Train Station, both completed in the 1880s. The red terra-cotta façade is adorned with many statues, decorative stripes, reliefs and ceramic plaques, using a mix of medieval and 19th century styles.
True Mass Cycling in the Netherlands in winter
In the Netherlands, mass cycling continues through the winter. People don't make so many journeys by bike in the winter as they do in the summer, but it's still significant. It is made possible because of the safety and convenience of direct routes on cycle-paths and roads from which motor vehicles have been removed.

Harry's Story - Memories of Hiding Jews and Nazi Brutality during WWII
Harry Andringa was only 9 years old and living in Holland when Adolf Hitler's Nazis invaded the Netherlands. Harry's family endured the horrors and atrocities of the Nazi regime for 5 years until Holland was liberated by the Allies.
Many families including Harry's hid Jewish children to prevent them from being sent to concentration camps. This documentary includes a interview with Harry and supported by vintage war footage from the Canadian Army Newsreels - courtesy of the National Film Board of Canada.
Harry used to visit local schools during Remembrance Day services and other times when he was invited to talk to students about WWII. His story is preserved in this documentary so it will not be forgotten. Please share with others. Thank You!

David Adjaye: Place, Identity, and Transformation | Talks at Google
Sir David Adjaye OBE is recognized as a leading architect of his generation. He was recently knighted by Her Majesty the Queen for services to Architecture and awarded an OBE in 2007. Adjaye was born in Tanzania and his influences range from contemporary art, music and science to African art forms and the civic life of cities. He reformed his studio Adjaye Associates which has offices in London, New York and completed work in Europe, North America, the Middle East, Asia, and Africa.
Two of the practice’s largest commissions to date are the design of the Smithsonian Institution’s National Museum of African American History and Culture on the National Mall in Washington D.C. and the Moscow School of Management (SKOLKOVO). In Oslo he designed the Nobel Peace Centre in the shell of a disused railway station. In London his design for the Whitechapel Idea Store pioneered a new approach to the provision of information services. The practice has also completed a social housing scheme in New York’s Sugar Hill (2014) and The Ethelbert Cooper Gallery of African & African American Art at Harvard’s Hutchins Center (2014), and is currently working on the new home for The Studio Museum in Harlem (ongoing).
Adjaye Associates believes that architecture presents opportunities for transformation – materially, conceptually and sociologically. Driven by the desire to enrich and improve daily life, the practice’s buildings are designed to meet the diverse needs of the communities they serve. Inspiration is drawn from many influences around the world and the work clearly articulates this enthusiasm for issues of place and identity.

Augusta Savage: A Woman of Her Word
Jeffreen M. Hayes, executive director, Threewalls
An outstanding sculptor associated with the intellectual and cultural awakening known as the Harlem Renaissance, Augusta Savage (1892-1962) overcame poverty, racism, and sexual discrimination in pursuit of her goals. Creating new visions of black identity in her work, she was also an activist, campaigning for equal rights for African Americans in the arts. The traveling exhibition Augusta Savage: Renaissance Woman and its accompanying catalog is the first to reassess Savage’s contributions to art and cultural history in light of 21st-century attention to the concept of the artist-activist. The exhibition viewing dates are as follows: the Cummer Museum of Art, October 12, 2018-April 7, 2019; the New York Historical Society, May 3–July 28, 2019; the Palmer Museum of Art, Pennsylvania State University, August 24–December 8, 2019; and the Dixon Gallery and Gardens, January 19–March 22, 2020. The groundbreaking catalog features illustrations of more than 40 works by Savage, her students, and her contemporaries, archival letters, rarely seen photographs, and an extensive bibliography and essays by Kirsten Pai Buick, Bridget R. Cooks, and Howard Dodson. In celebration of the Washington, DC, book launch on June 23, 2019, exhibition organizer Jeffreen M. Hayes discusses the life, work, and lasting legacy of Savage as an artist and a community builder. This program was proposed and made possible by Darryl Atwell.

Steve Aoki feat Angger Dimas - Steve Jobs
Steve Aoki
Arguably no producer has done more to raise the international profile of Los Angeles in underground electronic music circles than Steve Aoki. He broke bands such as Bloc Party, The Bloody Beetroots, Klaxons and The Gossip though deftly marketed single and full-length releases on his Dim Mak label, which he began in 1996 and now has over 250 releases.
Aoki's become a force of nature who has helped turn underground house, electro and harder-edged EDM with rap and rock leanings into the phenomena it is today: regularly pulling in 150,000 + fans at events such as Las Vegas' Electric Daisy Carnival and the debut of the IDentitynationalelectronic touring festival.
Aoki's punk roots go back to the art of the house party, when he was just a student at UCSB he was already booking bands such as The Rapture, !!!, Jimmy Eat World, Hot Water Music and At the Drive-In at his Pickle Patch bash and forging relationships with big names that would end up serving him well in the future (he met Weezer's Rivers Cuomo at a secret show in college). Now, Aoki is readying the next stage of is incredible music career with his first proper full-length release with Wonderland, bringing a lifetime's worth of passion for bands, DJs and artists of all stripes he has met and/or worked with over the past two decades to the forefront.
Marcus Schössow
Consecutively voted the most popular Nordic DJ since 2008, he has also cemented his spot in the desired DJ Mag Top 100. His rise in the scene and establishing his place in the eyes of EDM scene started with his 2007 smash track Mr White. Fusing futuristic techno, with filthy house and a subtle smattering of trance, his sound automatically became appealing to a whole host of DJ's and music fans alike. Ever since then he has single-handedly created a distinguished and recognizable, unique sound - he is the front man of the Trouse movement.
Combining the best of arena house and big room trance, Marcus was invited to host his Tone Diary Recordings under world-renowned dutch Spinnin' Records, garnering support from A list names including Tiesto, Swedish House Mafia and Sander Van Doorn. In this short time Marcus is moving masses with his sound with some of the biggest gigs in the calendar like Street Parade, Godskitchen, Creamfield and Ministry Of Sound. With Tone Diary, Marcus' acclaimed radio show airing on Area (Sirius/XM) and various Internet radios; the sound of Schossow travels even further. Setting the airwaves ablaze, he reaches those not lucky enough to have caught him live, and reminds those who have seen him live why they'll have to check him out again.
