Winter riding in the South of Florida.
Everglades National Park. (Miami, Florida,USA)

Discover Lake Okeechobee & The Glades, Florida | Everglades | The Palm Beaches
Her Soil is Her Fortune is the motto of Belle Glade, Florida in The Palm Beaches | Palm Beach County.
This is the Gateway to the Everglades and the starting point to explore Lake Okeechobee.
There’s black gold here. No, not the oil kind, but the soil. Everything and anything can grow in the famous, nutrient-rich dark soil. The locals call it “muck.” This muck has been golden over the years. Belle Glade is a major hub of the Florida Heartland, the state’s big-time agriculture territory – as the town has long since been one the country’s top suppliers of sugar cane, vegetables, and fruits.
Stop by the Lawrence E. Will Museum for more about region’s remarkable history. And culturally speaking, the impressive Dolly Hand Cultural Arts Center presents concerts, stage shows, and more.
Where the soil ends, another kind of treasure begins – Lake Okeechobee. Seminole Indians called this region “Land of Big Water,” thus the name Okeechobee. They weren’t kidding. Lake O is the second-largest freshwater lake in the lower 48 states. The lake offers world-class bass fishing along with panoramic views. Torry Island Campground and Marina and Paul Rardin Park are both exceptional for starting you trip on the lake or around it via the Lake Okeechobee Scenic Trail (LOST).
Grassy Waters
Off the beaten path and just the place to start a one-of-a-kind and unforgettable eco-adventure.
For those looking for the ultimate in outdoor eco-experience in The Palm Beaches, the 110-mile Lake Okeechobee Scenic Trail can be walked, hiked, mountain biked, rollerbladed or traveled by horseback. The Trail is known by many as LOST, but don’t worry – you won’t actually get lost! Three camping areas are available in The Palm Beaches’ portion of LOST, one in Pahokee, Belle Glade and in South Bay. Most of the Trail is on top of the 35-foot high Herbert Hoover Dike. Its height allows for excellent views and vistas of the lake. The Trail has a number of access points that can be used year-round, and it provides excellent opportunities for bird watching, fishing and photography. Drinking water is available on, or adjacent to, the LOST.
Or if this sounds a bit “over the top” for your day of adventure, grab a basket of grub and head to Paul Rardin Park for some fishing, boating or a day with family and friends. Either way, you’ll enjoy the sights, sounds and scenic beauty of the “big water” of Lake Okeechobee.
Crossroads of South Florida
Rich black soil and the lake's vast waters make South Bay a haven for agriculture and recreation.
On the western edge of The Palm Beaches and near the southern banks of Lake Okeechobee, two major roads, Florida State Road 80 and U.S. 27, intersect in South Bay. This crossroad makes this small town an important jumping-off point for visiting the Florida Everglades and understanding the incredible local agriculture industry.
Vast sugar cane fields can been seen from either highway. Sugar is king around here, but it isn’t the only crop; watch for corn, tomatoes, and other vegetables throughout the year.
South Bay also serves as the perfect layover for visitors passing through or searching for an alternative to Florida's bustling ocean coastlines. The Lake O shoreline has a different kind of peaceful feeling to it. Sense it in the South Bay RV Campground. This setting provides habitat for many of Florida's native plants and animals, including many endangered species. The angler in you can access the Lake from the boat ramp located across the street from the campground. The huge lake is nationally renowned for its bass fishing, bird watching, and Lake Okeechobee Scenic Trail (LOST).

Camping/Quading in Okeechobee
This is a camping trip my family and our friends took out to property I own in Okeechobee. The kids had some fun. It was a lot of work before, during, and after for us parents. In all, it was a blast and ended all to quick.
I edited every thing in iMovie. I am a novice at it and it took to 2:00 A.M. on a work night to make it happen.
The riding footage and some camp scenes were filmed with a GoPro strapped to my son's helmet. The other footage was from a JVC Everio and the stills and sideway shots from an iPhone 5.
Hope you enjoy! We did!
