Visiting Vanuatu: Port Vila & Tana Island
Climate Change in the Pacific University Tour: Vanuatu
Todays video is a short one which gives a quick summary of my time over in Vanuatu. I recently was overseas in Vanuatu on a 'Climate Change in the Pacific' tour with Griffith University; focusing on the impacts climate change will have in the future. In the two weeks I was overseas on this trip, I learnt so much and gained a deeper understanding of what Climate change is and how it will be impacting us as a whole.
This two minute video is also one of the Assignments I have to submit to University for this tour, and decided to share it with you all also as I absolutely loved my time over in Port Vila and Tanna island
We visited the Vanuatu Daily Post, University of the South Pacific, Efate Volcano, the Blue lagoon, local villages and communities and much more.
A massive thank you to New Colombo Plan for funding this trip, and also Doctor Kerrie Foxwell-Norton who was academic behind this whole trip!
I hope you all enjoyed this video,
until next time,
xox

Blue Cave, Tanna, Vanuatu
In October we stayed at the Blue Cave Ocean View Bungalow on the island of Tanna.
The bungalow was built by Daniel, who's family have owned the land and the Blue Cave for generations. When you stay here not only do you have a breathtaking enormous underground cave and crystal blue waters in the back garden, but the views across his land and the Pacific Ocean are truly unbelievable. And all from your bedroom door.
Many people who visit Tanna spend their entire time around the volcano, but we were so glad we decided to stay here.

5 REASONS Vanuatu is LIKE NO OTHER PLACE on Earth
Vanuatu is unlike anywhere else on Earth and these are our top 5 reasons why you need to visit! Click See more for more information about the places in the video and for links so you can stay in or go to any of the places we've shown in our video.
Yasur View Lodge - the family-owned accommodation on Tanna Island with the treehouse overlooking Mt Yasur volcano - they also have options on the ground for those not looking to hike to bed.
Tanna Island Village - the dancing you see here was not a tour or something you can pay to see, Thomas - the owner of Yasur View Lodge - is a member of this community and the event shown was a circumcision ceremony that we were invited to watch. We actually don't know the name of the village, these are the coordinates captured by our camera.
Champagne Beach - An incredible white sand beach. If this beach were any other place in the world it would be swamped with tourists but thanks to its location - quite a trek from the main town in Espiritu Santo - Luganville, we had the entire beach to ourselves! There is also accommodation nearby if you can see yourself spending a few days here.
Rocky Ridge Bungalows - Stay here to walk directly out your door to the Blue Hole 2 - they even provide free snorkelling gear!
Blue Hole 2 - An amazing blue hole that I can't recommend highly enough. We couldn't do the colour and quality of the coral justice in this video!
Matevulu Blue Hole - A beautiful blue hole and the canoe ride to get there - shown at 00:59 - is spectacular.
Hideaway Island Resort - This resort is a little gem tucked away from busy Port Vila. There are plenty of fish on the resort's doorstep that can be seen using their snorkelling equipment. The sunsets are beautiful and they also have movie nights and other activities. A little more on the pricey side than other places we've listed here but certainly not too expensive and worth the money. At low tide you can walk across a sand bank to the island resort or you can get the hotel boat - see 02:05 for footage of the hotel boat.
hideaway.com.vu
Norsup Airport, Malekula - This is one of the less touristic islands. It is somewhat underdeveloped - have you ever seen an airport like that?!? I love it!
If you like relaxing off the beaten path, Malekula was made for you. Like many of Vanuatu's islands, it has spectacular beaches - see 02:01 for an arial shot - one of Malekula's beautiful beaches. But if you're planning on relaxing with a cocktail by water, keep in mind that you may need to bring your own. Air Vanuatu is your only option to get here by air but if you're looking to travel more sustainably - and cheaply, check out the two boats that travel between Espiritu Santo/Port Vila and Malekula, the Vanuatu Ferry and the Big Sista.
MT YASUR VOLCANO
Last but certainly not least is the Mt Yasur Volcano. It is an exhilarating experience unique to Tanna, Vanuatu. You should definitely go with a guide at least the first time you visit as some areas of the caldera are subject to higher lava bombs - i.e. there is a very real possibility you will DIE FROM LAVA if you don't know where is safe to stand :P.
Thomas from Yasur View Lodge took us up in his 4WD the first night we visited for a very small fee and we walked ourselves from the lodge on the second night. I was again amazed at having a whole volcano to ourselves after the sun went down. Vanuatu's smaller islands are incredibly underrated.

LOLOLIMA Waterfall Vanuatu
In September 2012 whilst on holiday in Vanuatu we went on a very relaxing trip to the Lololima Waterfall. Our guide was Henry from Ecotours who operate out of Port Vila. Henry took great pride in looking after the environment around the falls whilst we relaxed exploring the area. He even used some local medicine on Jenni.
Need to sort out the fogging up of the Gopro Helmet camera but not with the suggested Gopro product there must be another method.
Thanks Heny and Ecotours for organising us access to these waterfalls which are on private land.

11 Explore the Blue Cave in Tanna, Vanuatu with me
11: Explore the Blue Cave in Tanna, Vanuatu Aug 27, 2019
The Blue Cave in Tanna is beautiful and the water is very blue and beautiful. Depending on the tides, the opening of the cave may be visible or like we went below the water and out of sight. I did swim through the tunnel and get into the cave. The most giant thank you to my boat team who were supportive and convinced me I could do it. I was excited to see it!
On our boat ride to the cave we saw spinner dolphins! That was AMAZING!
