A powerful original play exploring mental illness in Ireland
“I’m falling between the cracks in myself, and I don’t know how to crawl back out…”
In this darkly comic and deeply moving new play, an unsuccessful suicide attempt leaves young Leanne Dowd estranged from those she loves and attempting to pick up the pieces of a life still shattered by mental illness.
In Cracks, Quintessence Theatre use their inventive physical ensemble story-telling techniques mingled with film and music to explore the profound struggle individuals with mental illness face on a daily basis in Ireland today.
First devised by the company in 2016 and directed by Anna Simpson (a Creative Associate of the Pleasance and Practitioner with the Globe, London), this new work, already revived multiple times for sell out runs, seeks to expose the lived experience of battling a severe mental illness in an inefficient and unsympathetic system through the eyes of one young woman.

HOW IT IS: PART TWO is a stage rendition of Beckett’s novel by Gare St Lazare
Following the success of How It Is (Part 1), developed over 3 years as Artists in Residence at The Everyman, Cork’s own Beckett specialists return with Part 2 of this towering novel.
A site-specific work featuring actors Conor Lovett and Stephen Dillane (Game of Thrones), How It Is (Part 2) will be performed alongside The Irish Gamelan Orchestra with guest-tenor Mark Padmore and an original composition by Mel Mercier.
How It Is charts a journey undertaken by turns alone and accompanied, where time and space are fragmented and juxtaposed. GSL illuminate Beckett’s writing offering a new perspective on both Beckett and the exquisite auditorium of The Everyman.

CADA and The Everyman present our annual Christmas pantomime, Cinderella.
Hiya Boys and Girls. My name is Calinda and I just love to dance. Can any of you guess what my job is? A Fairy?
I’m a Fairy Godmother – well I am learning to be one.
I have been assigned to look after a lovely girl called Cinderella. Cinderella is so sweet, she is the daughter of Baron Overdrawn. The poor man hasn’t got 2 euros to rub together. He used to have loads of servants but the two ugly step-daughters, Verucca and Vinagrette squandered all the money. They are nasty. Cinderella has to do all the housework, with just the help of one servant called Cattie Buttons. Oh I almost forgot to mention the very dishy Prince Charming and his secretary of State Dandini. Oh, isn’t he a lasher? It’s his birthday too – come along to the Party.

650 Corkonians sing The Frank & Walters After All
DaBu were in Ireland for the first time ever. More specifically, Cork for the Cork Midsummer Festival. It was rainy! They didn't care. Neither did the sold-out crowd who came out to the gorgeous The Everyman Theatre to sing After All by their favourite hometown band, The Frank & Walters. The date was June 23, 2019 and it was the time of our lives! Behold C!C!C! in C! Enjoy!

MULDOON’S PICNIC Presented by Poetry Ireland | The Everyman, Cork | Mon 5 Aug
An omnium-gatherum of poetry, prose and music, Muldoon’s Picnic is hosted by the Pulitzer Prize-winning poet Paul Muldoon,‘the most significant English-language poet born since the Second World War’ (Times Literary Supplement).
The title ‘Muldoon’s Picnic’ refers to a popular 19th-century New York vaudeville show, which inspired the New York based Muldoon to begin hosting these carefully-blended evenings of literature and music back in 2014.
Described by Time Out New York as “a music-and-literature extravaganza,” each show on the tour has a bespoke mix of artists from the worlds of music and literature. Guests such as Michael Longley, Lisa O’Neill, Zadie Smith, and Horslips will join Muldoon for six different evenings of creative and collaborative energy.
Paul Muldoon describes ‘Muldoon’s Picnic’ as a direct response to that ancient impulse to perform, to share, to make one’s own amusement; “It’s one of our most basic instincts; to listen to a song, listen to a poem. Even in this era when people have their noses stuck in their tablets, it still works.”
The house band for the show is Rogue Oliphant – a collective of musicians and composers including Chris Harford (Three Colors, Band of Changes), Cait O’Riordan (The Pogues), David Mansfield (Bob Dylan, The Alpha Band) and Ray Kubian (Electric Six, Chris Forsyth).
On Bank Holiday Monday 5th August at The Everyman in Cork, contemporary English novelist, essayist, and short-story writer Zadie Smith, Northern Irish novelist and poet Nick Laird, and the ‘Godfathers of Celtic Rock’ Horslips are the special guests.

RAIN LIVE AT EVERYMAN THEATRE, CORK, IRELAND
Neasa Singer Songwriter from Ireland. Rain was written when I was touring and living for three years in a small town called Glenelg, right on the bay, seven km outside of Adelaide. I remember one day sitting on the beach under a searing hot sun knowing I had an amazing lifestyle, yet I felt isolation and loneliness and a longing to feel rain on my skin; longing to be home with those I loved. I realised that the sun cannot warm the heart like true friendships and family can and 'Rain' is an anthem in gratitude of those good friendships and family relations.

Acclaimed Irish artist Wallis Bird is back. The string-shredding singer-songwriter - once described by the Irish Times as having enough energy on stage to be able to “kickstart an entire economy” is coming to The Everyman with her solo show Wallis Bird – New Moon Tour on Sun 24 Nov.
Wallis Bird has an unusual ability to bind audiences with her musical spells; inciting people to join in rousing sing-a-longs as she shares her happiest emotions, or observe pin-drop silences as she expresses her deepest hurts.
