So we had this whole day to Evora, Portugal planned out, and it actually started out quite well with the highlight of getting Via Verde so we don't have to queue up every time we pass a toll ????!
Anyway, the plan was to explore the amazing town of Evora, which is know for it's incredible beauty and medieval features throughout.
We were stoked to make a video here, but as an expensive Canon lens suddenly decided to malfunction, Joen just had a mental breakdown.

EVORA - 2000 ANOS DE HISTORIA
Evora Giraldo Square
woltersworld.com
Giraldo Square is the heart of the center of Evora, Portugal. Tourism office, banks, shops, and stores. A nice place to sit and enjoy a drink in the hot Alentajo sun. Evora is one of the ten best towns in Portugal to visit and is an easy bus or train ride away from Lisbon.

Évora is a Portuguese city in the municipality of Évora. As of 2004, it had 41,159[1] inhabitants.
Due to its well-preserved old town centre, still partially enclosed by medieval walls, and a large number of monuments dating from various historical periods, including a Roman Temple, Évora is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It is also a member of the Most Ancient European Towns Network.[2]
Évora is ranked number two in the Portuguese most livable cities survey of living conditions published yearly by Expresso.[3] It was ranked first in a study concerning competitiveness of the 18 Portuguese district capitals, according to a 2006 study made by Minho University economic researchers.[4]
Portugal - Evora
The Historic Centre of Évora is no. 361 on UNESCO's World Heritage List. Evora was an important town for the Romans and later on for the Portuguese until the 18th century. After this the town turned into a rather remote provincial town, with antique temple columns and a baroque university in a gradually worsening condition. The industrial revolution went unnoticed in Évora, and little has changed for centuries.

2011/07/09-2 Évora: Walking around
Évora is the capital of Portugal's south-central Alentejo region. In the city's historic center stands the ancient Roman Temple of Évora (also called the Temple of Diana). Nearby, whitewashed houses surround the Cathedral of Évora, a massive Gothic structure begun in the 12th century.

04 Evora (Portugal 2011)
This museum-city, whose roots go back to Roman times, reached its golden age in the 15th century, when it became the residence of the Portuguese kings. Its unique quality stems from the whitewashed houses decorated with azulejos and wrought-iron balconies dating from the 16th to the 18th century. Its monuments had a profound influence on Portuguese architecture in Brazil.

There is a tourist office in the main square of Evora. Visiting it to get some information, I met the most rude employee ever.

Evora, Portugal! Romance by the wall!
We took a detour from the long trip to Lisbon from Madrid. To a little town called Evora!
This place simply amazes me! Fell in love with this little town from the moment i arrived.
We explored and found some interesting rustic and classic looking cafes bistros, shopping outlets and some talented buskers all around town.
And a bunch of vending machines that sells absolutely everything!
Do take a detour if you are heading to Lisbon!
