Ex Nihilo Vineyards - British Columbia
The Okanagan Valley of British Columbia in Western Canada is home to an ideal Icewine vineyard, known as Ex Nihilo. This vineyard, due to the effects of its microclimate, slope and soils, is considered one of the best sites in the world to produce premium Icewine. The Rolling Stones Icewine is crafted in limited quantity from grapes grown exclusively from this site. Strict vineyard practices are followed throughout the year at Ex Nihilo vineyard to ensure grapes of only the highest quality are used in the production of the Rolling Stones Icewine.
WINEMAKING:
The Rolling Stones Icewine is one of the rarest wines in the world. Our Pinot Noir grapes are left to hang on the vine well into to the winter months. When the temperature reaches -8°C the frozen grapes are handpicked and pressed in the extreme cold. This remarkable process intensifies the sugar, acid and flavors in the grapes, resulting in a wine unlike any other.
TASTING NOTES:
Fresh berry with intense raisin. This wine will also gain complexity with additional cellaring, estimated at 8 - 10 years
WINEMAKERS:
Dr. Allan Marks, Graham Pierce, Rob Thielicke

Wine Tour in Kelowna and the Okanagan Valley Wine Region
Our visit to Kelowna and the Okanagan Valley wine region.
We left Whistler and made the 8 hour drive to Kelowna. We stayed with family and our daily goal was to explore Kelowna and the Okanagan, taste wines, tour wineries and eat delicious oknagan fresh fruit.
The Okanagan produces 80% of British Columbias wine. There are over 182 licensed wineries with the majority of them situated along the Okanagan lake. Wine has been produced in Kelowna and the Okanagan since the 1850’s. Unfortunately in the early days prohibition had wiped out most of Kelowna’s wineries and it wasn’t until the 1930’s when the wine industry in Kelowna and the Okanagan was revitalized.
There are over 60 different types of grapes that are grown in the Okanagan including, merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, pinot noir, pinot gris, chardonnay, cabernet franc and much more.
We visited Rollingdale Winery, Tantalus Winery, Vibrant Vines, Frequency Winery, Arrow Leaf Winery, Summerhill Pyramid Winery and Ex Nihilo Winery. These wineries are located in various locations throughout Kelowna and you would likely want to limit yourself to 3-4 wineries per day. Please take a taxi or have a designated driver.
We highly recommend taking a trip down to Kelowna and doing a wine tour, it's a ton of fun and very close to Vancouver and the Sunshine Coast.

Ex-Nihilo and Arrow Leaf Cellar
Anne visited Vernon for the cousin's surprise birthday. To keep us from getting busted, we took her to Ex Nihilo winery at Lake Country for lunch and wine tasting. T he pizza was good by the way. We finished off with dessert at Arrow Leaf Cellar. The view there was amazing. It was a quick and wonderful date. I had my share of wine and pizza. I could not ask for more. :)
BEST Okanagan Wedding Video - Kelowna, Penticton, Cawston, BC
It's hard to believe, but we had yet to shoot a wedding in the Okanagan, the beautiful interior of British Columbia, wine country, open pasture, big mountains, the works. Then one day, Ruby and Jay called us. Not only are they having a big Indian wedding in the Okanagan, but it stretches from the beautiful city of Kelowna, to the lakeside town of Penticton, to the tiny farm community of Cawston, population 973. It's no surprise that we jumped in with both feet!
While Ruby is born and raised in Cawston, Jay is an American from New Jersey. With this big change in scenary, it was remarkable how easily and quickly the two families came together, even with a little election year chatter about Donald Trump! From the friendly family orchard, to the spectacular Laughing Stock Vineyards by Okanagan Lake, to the unbelievable reception view from Kelowna's Hillcrest Farm, you will definitely fall in love with Ruby and Jay's unique Okanagan perspective.

30 BC Wineries visits See Ya Later Ranch
See Ya Later Ranch has lots of history in Okanagan Falls. Dating back to Major Hugh Fraser who bought the property way back in 1919 when he came over from England. When his wife left him it's reported she left him a note that read See ya later. From that moment onwards his companions were man's best friend, his dogs.
In 2014 keeping the Major's legacy alive See Ya Later Ranch produces some amazing wines and honours the dogs of Major Hugh Fraser along the way. This winery is not only beautiful but has lots of great history and stories available when you come for a wine tasting.
