Exe Trail Promotional Video - Exmouth to Dawlish Cycle Path
The cyclepath and walkway, when completed, will run around the entire Exe Estuary linking Exmouth, Exeter and Dawlish. The route itself is fairly flat and takes in the most fantastic views along the River Exe with lots to see and do along the way.
The pathway has been developed and constructed by Devon County Council as part of the National Cycle Network Route 2. Currently, the route links Exmouth, Lympstone and Exton with further sections linking to Topsham due to be completed in the near future. The route is also ready to use between Topsham and Exeter, and Exeter and the Turf Locks Hotel. When completed, the Exe Estuary Trail will be around 26 miles in length with many smaller circuits made possible by using one of the ferry services which operate around the Estuary.
Visit the Exe Trail website for more information on the route and things to do around.

Big Bike Out #6 || Exe Estuary Trail
We cycled down west side of the Exe Estuary Trail from Exeter to Dawlish and back up the east side, crossing via the ferry at Starcross. We were aiming for the National Nature Reserve at Dawlish but didn't really make it through the resort... have to come back another time. The best bit is probably Exeter to Starcross, then Exmouth to Topsham and back across on the ferry to the Exeter canal. Exe Estuary Cycle Trail - Exwick To Budleigh Salterton - National Cycle Route 2 - GoPro
I'm hoping that this footage will be of use to those who would like to cycle the Exe Estuary trail, especially with young family. See index under Show More to skip to the part you're interested in.
I started at the very top end of Exeter's flood defences in Exwick and followed the trail to Exmouth before continue on National Cycle Route 2 to Budleigh Salterton. I'm tring to increase my distances little by little and with the return leg came to 56.8km (see the link below for my Strava feed)
It's a great ride and mostly flat apart from a couple of hills at Exton, Lympton and near Budleigh Salterton. Below is an index to each section so you can skip to the bit you want to see.
