Exeter Cathedral, England
Founded in 1050, it was established to provide support for the Bishop of Exeter in his ministry and mission across Devon, and to be a community of prayer, and christian worship. It is the symbolic focus of the Bishop's centeredness in the life of the Diocese, and the home of his cathedra' (his seat or throne). All involved in its life seek to reflect the love of God revealed in the eternal community of the Trinity: Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
The Cathedral building, dedicated to Peter, one of Jesus' earliest followers and the model for all subsequent bishops, is the finest example of Decorated Gothic architecture in any Cathedral. The building itself proclaims something of the beauty and holiness of God. To see it on a day when the sun streams through its windows is breathtaking.

- we start at John Lewis, the meeting point of most Exeter students
- then we turn right and go down highstreet where you can find different shops, banks and supermarkets
- once we've done the whole street we go back and visit Exeter's cathedral
- from there we go to Princesshay, Exeter's shopping center and look around at the different shops in there
- then we go to Queen's street and look around guild hall
- we finish on the bus to campus where I kiss you guys goodbye!

Exeter is an ancient city on the River Exe in southwest England. Dating back to the Roman era, the Exeter City Walls surround its center and Gothic Exeter Cathedral.
Exeter Castle, a Norman landmark, overlooks leafy Northernhay and Rougemont Gardens. To their west, the Royal Albert Memorial Museum & Art Gallery (RAMM) displays fine art and costumes. The vaulted, medieval Underground Passages snake beneath the city.

Some views of the fascinating cathedral city of Exeter. Perfect mix for a shopping centre of ultra modern stores interspersed with medieval buildings and remains of the cities original wall.
Exeter cathedral whilst not the largest to be found in the UK is awe inspiring and it's cathedral green a great place to relax on a sunny afternoon.
The quayside is a total change of scene just a few minutes walk from the shopping centre and cathedral and is testimony to the cities importance over the centuries as a trading port.

The founding of the cathedral at Exeter, dedicated to Saint Peter, dates from 1050, when the seat of the bishop of Devon and Cornwall was transferred from Crediton because of a fear of sea-raids. A Saxon minster already existing within the town (and dedicated to Saint Mary and Saint Peter) was used by Bishop Leofric as his seat, but services were often held out of doors, close to the site of the present cathedral building, More Info :

Vobes Explores - Exeter in Devon
Richard Vobes goes off briefly to explore the wonderful sites and history of Exeter, in Devon - the old bridge, the quay and the old town. Of course, there are plenty more things to see and learn about. The video was a one man and a camera piece of test footage. I know I didn't do it justice and one day it would be great to return as my TV persona, The Bald Explorer, and do it properly. (I also have to confess, I shot this after an eye operation - and I was on steroids at the time. I subsequently lost my eye all together.)
Anyway, I hope you enjoy the simple look at a delightful city.
