Phillips Academy in Andover is the best high school in America
We visited Phillips Academy in Andover, Massachusetts to see what makes it the best high school in America. The school is often confused with Phillips Exeter. There are 1,154 students on Andover's campus. Tuition for students living on campus is $53,900. Tuition for day students is $41,900. Andover has a need-blind admissions policy which means they accept students based on merit, not wealth. There are 44 states and 44 countries represented in the current student body. Following is a transcript of the video.
Jenny Elliott: Folks who are not so close to Andover or who haven’t experienced something like this will say, “you were sent to boarding school.” And, a sense of agency for kids to feel like, “I wasn’t sent anywhere. I wasn’t sent by my parents. I chose to go to boarding school.”
David Tsai: I’m a senior from Natick, Massachusetts. I have attended Andover for four years. And it is a distinct pleasure of mine to bring all of you around on what I believe is the best school in the world.
The most important thing you learn on this campus is how every single faculty member and every single student, when they are walking on, these are called the paths, they’re smiling. They’re clearly enjoying themselves at this school.
I believe that the boarding experience is so much more beneficial to the student because they get to live on their own and they get to experience high school as most people experience their college years.
John Palfrey: What we’re trying to accomplish here is to be absolutely excellent in the classic ways of academics, of sports, of arts, of community engagement — all of those things — while also really focusing on the young person in their wholeness and to make sure that we encourage kids to have wellness as central to their experience. To make sure they’re getting sleep, to make sure that they’re eating well, to make sure they’re exercising. All of those things I think go together with this idea of excellence. And I think that that combination of things is working really well right now.
Elliott: We don’t post grade point averages. We try to take some very specific steps not to elevate competition in those ways. We do a lot of collaborative work in classes, we do a lot of collaborative work on teams, we do a lot of collaborative work outside — and we do, in terms of our leadership positions for students, there are many positions where there’s actually co-presidents or there are co-leaders to send a clear message to our kids — collaboration is a skill that you’re going to need to develop well in order to be able to move forward here with success.
Tsai: Mental health here is one of the most important things on campus because the only way for you to show your affection for someone, to love someone else, to build connections and build bonds, is to firstly love yourself.
Palfrey: The most distinctive thing about Andover’s program is the need-blind admissions policy in our 11th year. How can you have a morally responsible high school with a $1 billion endowment? It’s when you actually do admit kids solely on the basis of their admission criteria that have nothing to do with wealth.
Tsai: I am so happy that I made the decision to come here because there is so clearly a universal commitment to being loved and to love that you don’t find at any other school.

California Heartland
From Easy Money by Kally O'Mally
There are mountains among the trees.
It's a loving world built by you and me.
There are blue skies, miles high
and frosty snow on river rocks.
Time can move without the clocks,
in the California heartland.
I see people passing, they smile and go their way.
Isn't it wonderful how you and I can be, part of this crazy world but live in harmony, harmony,
in the California heartland.
You're right at home in the California heartland.
There's a long stretch of highway
it takes you down to the night
where the golden fields of life abide.
She's unfailing, she's unveiling
a ceaseless love that we can find, that we can find
in the California heartland.
You're right at home in the California heartland.

Rocky Hill Ranch - Part 1(Trails)
Due to that vast majority of Texas being a swamp from huge rainstorms that refuse to go away, I took a road trip to the Texas Hill Country to get in some ride time.
This is the first part of Rocky Hill Ranch which is hidden just east of Bastrop in Smithville. This is the first part of the lengthy ride that I took on these trails and it includes sections of Pam's Picnic Trail, Grey's Way, Fat Chuck's Demise, Grey's Highway, and ends at the south fenceline where I had a close encounter with a wild creature!
I am just glad I survived the kamikaze butterfly!

False complaint filed against the Visalia Police Department and Exeter Police Department
There are many. I reported a crime at my business (the 1st time in 7/2006) 5/12/08 and was refused help repeatedly by Donna Skaggs. As a result, I have lost real estate (4 properties total), and nothing has been done about my stolen property (real and personal), embezzlement, identity theft, forgery, etc. I had 3 Officers with guns drawn at my front door that verbally abused me threatening to take me in stating I was crazy; another Officer told me she was investigating me for a hired hit, she failed to arrest a repeat offender when I had cracked ribs, broken windshield and bruises from him and instead told him (in front of me) that she was impressed that he had admitted everything; this same Officer again placed me in a fatal situation with a known white supremist with outstanding warrants in 2 states and lied to me that he had no warrants and was not on Parole. She then told me that he would not hesitate to kill me. She has personal knowledge of me and has verbally abused me on more than 1 occasion. She has given me her personal cell # and told me if she finds out that I have given it to anyone I will be sorry; I recently discovered she is friends with 1 of the previous employees that embezzled, a previous tenant (that made every attempt to take my home from me, including refusing me the right to enter 2 times with numerous lawful notifications including calling Police on ME and they refused me entry as well), a Paid Informant which is the same white supremist I spoke of earlier.(the Paid Informant did a home invasion on me and continues to harass me with no charges filed on him. The D.A.'s Office has told me I need to handle this because it is a CIVIL MATTER). I was pulled over for not having a front license plate even though it was in the front windshield and arrested on planted evidence (drugs) and never have been charged . . . 4 text messages are on my cell phone bill during the time I was in custody to the Paid Informant and that is the night he robbed me. I am being targeted by a few Police Officers and I do not know why. It has placed my life in danger more than once and twice I have called for emergency service (911) and they have NOT come. I am a single female and live alone and my fear is that if this Nazi Low Rider Group comes back to finish the job, the Police will intentionally wait to respond. I have photos of the hook and chains with padlocks hanging from my ceiling, the noose with 17 loops, the 2 roll of duct tape, the saw-zaw with wrapped balde, the wrapped paddle sticks, etc they were going to use the night of the robbery. I desperately need help and someone needs to expose the corruption in our local government. Please take the seriously and PLEASE if you dont believe me still look into it because you will find that I am telling the truth.
the complaint was filed againts these officers:
Jason McWilliams, Jennifer Salmon, Donna Skaggs
We have determined the complaint was false
