FDC: No point in celebrating women's day
The FDC Women League says there is no point in celebrating the International Women’s Day in Uganda on 8th March and the money should be put to better use. The chairperson of FDC women League Ingrid Turinawe said 19 women still die every day in childbirth and the government has not done much to prevent this despite the fact that it has the mandate and the capacity. The members say this number could come down if the government allocated just 1200 shillings per woman. They also feel that the money which will be spent on the national event should instead be used to buy equipment to help these women. The national celebrations will be held in Kabale district on Sunday.

Uganda Project 2014
In June 2014, a group of twenty staff and students from Dulwich College Shanghai went to Kabale, in south-west Uganda, to work alongside local contractors to build The Peace Centre, an orphanage that will be a home for up to forty children from the region. It was an absolutely amazing experience: by the end we felt as though we were a part of the community and found it very hard to leave. We cannot wait to go back in 2015, to see the finished building and to work and play with the children who will by then be living there. For more information, check out:
