Stara Malta
The old Malta railway tunnel & station ,Floriana, MALTA .
The old Malta railway tunnel & station ,Floriana ( Railway foundation link below ) This was the only railway line ever on the island of Malta, and it consisted of a single railway line from Valletta to Mdina. It was a single-track line in metre gauge, operating from 1883 to 1931. The railway was known locally in Maltese as il-vapur tal-art (the land ship). The railway tunnel running under the fortifications of Valletta was used as an air-raid-shelter.

3-DAY TRIP TO MALTA | Valetta, Floriana, Fort St. Elmo, Blue Grotto, Popeye Village
Black Friday sales came around and my friends & I couldn't help but grab a bargain. With £15 flights to the beautiful island of Malta, we were on our way for a three-day break.
Our flight arrived extremely late at Luqa airport, around 23:30. An extremely bumpy flight filled with bad service and annoying tannoy announcements about cheap go-pros and tacky perfume later, we were on our way to the Two Pillows Boutique hostel in Sliema.
I have stayed in a hostel before but never with the pleasure of another guest in the room. I apologise for the rudeness about our room mate in this vlog... at this point we had only seen him in the dark haha. But he did insult me later in the trip, not knowing that the insta post being discussed was mine. Older generation, so-on-so-on. He wasn't 80 though, btw.
Firstly, the hostel experience. I didn't enjoy having a stranger in the room as it didn't allow for the chance to relax as you do in a hotel or air b'n'b. However, the rooms, staff and general aesthetic of the hostel was beautiful. I highly recommend for location and quality/ value for money as you are close to a central bus station, shops and restaurants, a ferry that takes you directly to Valetta for 1.50 euros. And the best part, Maxims pastizzeria was only a 10 minute walk away, selling the best pastizzi, timpana and lots of Maltese food the island has to offer.
Our first day was very jam-packed but very fun too. We started off with some pastizzi at Maxims and then decided to take a long stroll from Sliema to Valetta. On this walk, we also explored floriana, luckily coming across the set we used for Essex Vendetta in 2014. This led to exploring the capital of Malta, a fort, being attacked by pigeons and having a nap before heading back out for dinner at Mamma Mia for an incredible Maltese pizza.
Sadly, the next day was slightly dampened by the weather. It was cold and rainy pretty much all day. So we used the buses to get to Popeye village (11 euros), which was basically a ghost town. Very fun though and a few spooks, which you will see in the vlog. We did actually detour to St John's Cathedral in Valetta (10 euros), which was incredible. I decided not to vlog inside so I could take in everything the place had to offer.
Our last day was again, very chilled. We visited Blue Grotto, Paradise Bay and Golden Bay to watch the sunset before heading out on a more calm flight home back to London Stansted.
What I will say is don't be afraid to use the bus system. There are passes available, which we initially considered purchasing... but after working out how little we would be using the buses (and we still used them a lot), we just paid for singles, which are 1.50 euro and last on any buses on your journey for two hours from purchase time.
Although I didn't vlog as much as I had liked to... I hope this vlog is insightful for you and super fun.

Exploring Maltese Tunnel In Valletta (4k)
Adventures down deep Into the walls of Valletta, Malta
he fortifications of Valletta (Maltese: Is-Swar tal-Belt Valletta) are a series of defensive walls and other fortifications which surround the capital city of Valletta, Malta. The first fortification to be built was Fort Saint Elmo in 1552, but the fortifications of the city proper began to be built in 1566 when it was founded by Grand Master Jean de Valette. Modifications were made throughout the following centuries, with the last major addition being Fort Lascaris which was completed in 1856. Most of the fortifications remain largely intact today.

The Archbishop's Palace, Malta, Exploring the Centuries old underground water cisterns
In 1622 Bishop Cagliares thought of establishing his residence in Valletta, the design of which was commissioned to Tumas Dingli (1591-1666). After a power-play controversy between the Bishop and the Order the palace was built as a one-storey building with a garden on the rear. The Bishop established both his residence and Archbishop's Curia. The palace was extended and improved during the time of Bishop Alpheran de Bussan in 1730. In the 1950s Archbishop Michele Gonzi oversaw the construction of most of the upper floor level. The two-storey palace has a symmetrical façade with the centrepiece including the main portal featuring Ionic fluted columns and pilasters set in a concave embrace of the entrance typical of Baroque architecture. The portal is surmounted by a large statue symbolising Christianity and which is set in a concave reredos.
